Celebrate the yuzu season with us in the Japanese countryside | Yuzu recipes from Umaji Village

Yuzu Hajimaru Matsuri, or Yuzu “Beginning” Festival, is an exciting event that marks the start of the yuzu harvest season in Umaji Village. 🍊This village plays a significant role in the yuzu production of Kochi Prefecture, which is recognized as Japan’s largest producer of this citrus fruit. If you’re considering visiting, I highly recommend checking out the festival details online. Just a heads-up—due to the village’s location, having a car is essential for your trip. It’s a wonderful way to experience the local culture and enjoy the flavors of yuzu!

#NotSponsored: I had the opportunity to travel to Umaji Village, thanks to the support of the Umaji Village Agricultural Cooperative, which generously covered my accommodations and transportation costs. No further financial transactions took place to make this video.

  1. Oh wow this was an emotional watch for me (that beautiful yuzu song 😭), you can really feel the sense of community. Your channel is truly one of my favourites, such a talent for filmaking, editing, narrating… Thank you for sharing those moments !!!

  2. Thank you for this beautiful and informative video. The montage section with the man singing the yuzu song was so touching. I hope to one day try some of the yuzu products or dishes featured.

  3. I think this is probably one of my favourite video ! The montage at the end with the man singing was sublime and I just felt transported. And it is so nice to discover all those cultural events in other places in Japan. Thank you so much for sharing ! And I cannot wait to watch more of your videos !

  4. I hope I one day will have the money to travel to Japan! But where to go there? So many fantastic places, nature, food…I would have to stay at least 2-3 months! Yuzu…I once had a drink with yuzu lemonade and I got hooked but it is so expensive here in Sweden and hard to find. It is also very expensive with imported stuff, I found fresh (well, not matured, still green) yuzu in a store in big town. Unfortunately I could not afford to buy one, I think the price of one fruit was about 3 US dollar/fruit and I was so short of money that month. Maybe I try flavoured ponzu (still quite expensive) but as a keen amateur chef I would love to make a marmelade with youzu and apricot- and peach tasting chili! Love your vids!

  5. If I can't be there in person then this is the next best thing. Thank you for sharing this with us 🍋

  6. Hi . I was magically dropped on your channel. Awesome content and awesome editing. I subscribed rightaway. From Italy.

  7. Thanks for your videos, and happy new year! Do you know if I can find the song the man was singing at the festival anywhere else? Does the song have a name or writer?

  8. Sou visitante novo aqui. Estou adorando o canal, seu conteúdo e o lugar aonde vocês vivem. Parabens e tudo de bom para vocês !!!
