忘れたくても忘れられないあの日の出来事・・・
ずぶ濡れになって多くの方々が避難してきたのを受け入れ、自宅がどうなっているかも分からないまま1週間、職場で過ごしました。
私の家族は無事でしたが、知り合いが亡くなり、同僚の家族が亡くなり、遺体安置所には多くの亡骸がありました。
あれから、かなりの月日が経ちますが、私たちはこの出来事を後世に伝えていく義務があります。

I spent a week at work, soaking wet and accepting the many people who had evacuated, not knowing what had happened to their homes.
My family was safe, but people I knew died, family members of my co-workers died, and there were many dead bodies in the morgue.
Ten years have passed since then, and we have an obligation to pass this event on to future generations.

2011年3月11日14時46分、観測史上最大のマグニチュード 9.0の地震が発生しました。この地震により太平洋沿岸を広く津波が襲い、多くの方々が亡くなりました。
宮城県気仙沼市にある気仙沼向洋高校にも高さ12mの津波が押し寄せ、校舎の4階まで浸水しました。しかし、生徒全員が高台に避難し、残された教職員も屋上に避難したため、奇跡的にも犠牲者は出ませんでした。この教訓を後世に伝えるため気仙沼向洋高校を震災遺構として残しています。

At 14:46 on March 11, 2011, a magnitude 9.0 earthquake, the largest in recorded history, struck. The earthquake triggered a widespread tsunami along the Pacific coast, killing many people.
Kesennuma Koyo High School in Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture, was inundated by a 12-meter-high tsunami, which flooded the fourth floor of the school building. Miraculously, however, no one was killed, as all students evacuated to higher ground and the remaining teachers and staff took refuge on the roof. Kesennuma Koyo High School has been preserved as a relic of the disaster to pass on this lesson to future generations.
