Join me as I embark on an unforgettable two-week journey through Sabah, Malaysia, exploring the untamed beauty of Borneo. Our adventure begins in the vibrant coastal city of Kota Kinabalu, where we dive into the heart of local culture by savoring fresh seafood and experiencing the lively atmosphere of this bustling port. From there, we set off on a thrilling motorbike ride to the very tip of Borneo, skimming along winding coastal roads with breathtaking ocean views and stopping to explore secluded beaches and charming villages along the way.
Leaving the coastline behind, we head to the majestic Mt. Kinabalu region, where the lush landscapes and towering mountains are home to the indigenous Mari Mari tribe. Here, we immerse ourselves in local traditions and gain a deeper understanding of Borneo’s rich cultural heritage. Next, we journey to Sepilok for a rare chance to encounter the island’s iconic orangutans up close. Our time in the jungle continues with three nights on the river, where we embark on exciting boat safaris and stay deep within the rainforest, surrounded by exotic wildlife and the tranquil sounds of nature. This area of Borneo is called The Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary.
Our adventure culminates with an exhilarating climb up Mt. Kinabalu itself. Facing challenging trails and unpredictable weather, we push through to reach the summit, rewarded with sweeping sunrise views over the island’s vast wilderness. From diverse ecosystems to heart-pounding experiences, this documentary captures the essence of Borneo’s wild beauty and the unforgettable thrill of exploring Sabah, Malaysia.

Loved this video. Beautiful footage of Borneo. The trek up that mountain was awesome! Glad you made it up there and back down safely. 13,000 feet is nothing to sneeze at. Would love to try that myself. I hiked Fansipan, Vietnam. That was quite a trek for myself at 60 years old. You’ve come a long way since the Budgeteers. And keep getting better. Just take care of your health mate. And keep going. Like you said. One step at a time.
