Toyota Automobile Museum | Aichi, Japan

The Toyota Automobile Museum was established in 1989 to commemorate the history and culture of automobiles. It is a large complex located in Nagakute city in Aichi Prefecture. This museum not only features cars of Toyota, but also cars from other manufacturers as well as artworks.

The Toyota Museum has two galleries – the Automobile Gallery and the Cultural Gallery. The Automobile Gallery exhibits the history of automobiles from the birth of gasoline cars to modern times. Approximately 140 vehicles from Japan, the United States and Europe are displayed. The Cultural Gallery showcases a selection of approximately 4,000 automobile related cultural items such as advertisements, toy cars, stamps, and more.

In addition to the two galleries, the Toyota Museum has a library, restaurant, cafe, shop and studio for special programs. Admission costs ¥1,200 for adult. Free guided tours in English are available by advanced reservation. In terms of access, the Toyota Museum can be reached by car (free parking) or by train. The nearest Geidai-dori Station is a 5-minute walk away from the museum.
