EXTREME Vegetarian Festival in Phuket: The Ultimate Guide

DON’T MISS! Shocking Rituals, Intense Piercings, & Intense Spiritual Devotion at the Phuket Vegetarian Festival.

Prepare to be amazed and, at times, shocked as I take you inside Phuket’s Vegetarian Festival, a celebration like no other! This isn’t just about vegetarian food—it’s a raw, spiritual journey filled with intense rituals that will leave you speechless. From spirit possessions to extreme piercings and dangerous acts of faith, this video captures the festival’s mesmerizing intensity and cultural depth.

One of the most jaw-dropping experiences was witnessing the Ma Song—individuals who enter trances, allowing the gods to possess their bodies. These devotees endure extreme body piercings using swords, spikes, and even household objects to purge evil spirits and absorb the sins of the community. The sight is both shocking and spiritually profound. 🗡️💀

I also watched in awe as devotees scaled the bald ladder, made entirely of razor-sharp blades, barefoot and seemingly unfazed. 🪜⚔️ This ancient practice, like the piercings, is believed to cleanse the body and soul, helping the Ma Song achieve spiritual purity for themselves and others.

To add to the spectacle, there’s the fire-walking ceremony, where participants walk over burning coals—another test of unwavering faith and devotion.🔥🔥 These acts are intense, sometimes shocking, but they reflect the deep spiritual devotion of the Ma Song, who believe they are protecting the community through their suffering and channeling the power of the gods to heal and purify.

And amidst all this spiritual intensity, I’ll take you to explore the festival’s incredible vegetarian and vegan street food, from spring rolls to bean smoothies and even vegan croffles!

Key Moments You Can’t Miss:

* Shocking Spirit Possessions during the Ma Song processions
* Up-close views of extreme piercings and their spiritual meaning

  3. Wow! A-dam!
This video was absolutely your best one EVER!
I am not exaggerating when I saw, it's award worthy!
We can only imagine the amount of research you put into this. Whatever the effort, it resulted in an absolutely spectacular video.
And, I giggled when you said avocado milkshakes are your new favorite. I get mine at Bikini Bottom Express in Da Nang, Vietnam; avocado & coconut milk, with a sprinkle of chia on the top…yum!
For coffee, I do the iced coffee with coconut milk at Bamboo Bob Coffee…delish!
I'm heading to Da Nang, for a month, on Tuesday so, I'll be watching your next videos with one of them there Vietnamese delights to sip on.
Thanks for taking us along on your amazing adventures.
*please consider entering this video into any short film competitions that may be happening this year or, at any time in the future…it really is award winning.
** The National Film Board of Canada may be a good place to start.

  4. Adam! Magnificent!!! I'm breathless, what a stunning presentation of culture, custom. The deepest believers, offer their bodies as receptacles of proof that their transcended faith disallows pain! In that moment they are beyond earthly existence and dwell in the faith of their beliefs!
Some of these exhibits, proof of faith is seen in several countries. In Mexico walking on your knees to make pilgrimage to the shrine of La Virgen de
Guadalupe is common. Torn and blooded knees is symbol of faith.

I must say the production value of this video is spectacular. You really stepped up the game, brother. I'm proud of you!
Hope you're feeling better! I got to get my friends to see this vid!!!
