Having travelled nearly 1000km from Tokyo, my husband and I reached Hokkaido’s vibrant capital, Sapporo, the fifth-largest city in Japan. The city’s name, derived from the Ainu, the indigenous people of Hokkaido, signifies “a river flowing through a plain filled with reeds,” a poetic touch to its identity.
Following an exhaustive 18-hour overnight ferry journey from Tokyo, we opted for a relaxed approach, avoiding the urgency of capturing every moment. Our leisurely exploration led us through Sapporo’s lush parks and gardens. Much of the buildings and structures of Sapporo were in fact designed by Americans and Europeans.

ABOUT ME:
In 2013, I started my solo travel journey, leaving Indonesia in 2016 to become a full-time traveller and YouTube creator. My background in International Relations has fueled a profound interest in exploring different countries. My content focuses on exploring different cultures through the lens of a solo female traveller, aiming to capture real-life interactions and experiences.
My travels kicked off with a five-month trip across Asia, after which I moved to China in January 2017 to work as an English teacher—my first time living abroad. I left China in 2018 to fully commit to creating videos on YouTube, where I share my travels and the cultures I encounter.
Living nomadically since 2016, I settled in England in early 2022 after marrying my British husband, David. Now based in the UK, I continue to travel and share my adventures on YouTube.

Yes, Japan and the Japanese are enigmatic. Japan is also a country where suicide rates are quite high, probably the first one in the world. It is also a country in which people suffer from affective poverty and loneliness because Japanese people are convinced that having a sentimental relationship or family may ruin your career aspirations. They hire a boyfriend or girlfriend in order to fill this emotional poverty
You could not find trash bins because sometimes back(a decade or more so) there had been a blast from a trash bin. They don't have them anymore due to safety reasons. They do have trash bins but they are placed in a specific space, inside the apartment building. You may also find them in malls, railway or metro stations.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. You two make so personal and have a way of drawing us in your adventures. Top Notch as always. ❤
一度触った箸は戻さないこと。衛生面を考慮するように!
日本へようこそ🎵
Thank you very much

Hi Syifa, i just came back from Hokkaido, it more beautiful during winter all areas covered by snow i like it, but love your video 😉
Woww….❤
Axesome Japanese seafood market tour.
Prices for food and drink are slightly higher where there are more tourists.
In Sapporo, prices are a bit lower if you go to residential areas.
Welcome to Japan! That's a long way to go! Good luck!👍
The lack of trash cans is an anti-terrorism measure. (In the past, there was a chemical weapons attack disguised as garbage.) The reason why there are no trash cans is because Japanese people think it is bad manners to eat and drink while walking around, except for some events such as festivals. In crowded places, it would be troublesome if you spill on your clothes or hit someone else and make a mess. If garbage is generated, it is always taken home or thrown away in a trash can at a convenience store or some train stations.
I think the reason why most people pay in cash is because many Japanese use the common nationwide transportation IC card, many stores and transportation companies do not want to spend money on the payment system (and make it cheaper instead), and the system is originally clean and free of counterfeit bills. Another big reason is that digital money cannot be used when a natural disaster occurs. During the earthquake in Hokkaido a few years ago, the power went out and the payment system went down, making it impossible to make purchases using anything but cash. So we always carry cash with us or stock a little cash at home.
If this city was designed by Americans it also must be the ugliest city in Japan.Let’s face it nobody makes more beautiful streets and houses and gardens and surrounding as a whole than Japan, the opposite is the U.S .But great video
i love u too i hope you one day come to visit bangladeshi
You are such a winner.

Actually you are correct about the trash cans. The Japanese always take their trash home. And another interesting fact is that the Japanese fans will stay behind after the football match has finished. They come with big trash bags and clean the stadium.
I never been to Japan but as i have researched Japan is most developed and advanced country even destroyed in 1945.. you both beautiful in beautiful place god bless you both…
