林芝市（Nyingchi），隶属于西藏自治区，古称“工布”，藏语音译为“尼池”，寓意为“太阳宝座”，地处西藏东南部，素有“西藏江南”、“雪域明珠”等称号，总面积114870平方千米，自治区内与拉萨、山南、那曲、昌都相邻，自治区外与云南毗邻，边境与印度、缅甸接壤，平均海拔3100米。截至2023年9月，辖1个市辖区、5个县，代管1个县级市，56个乡（镇、街道）、504个村（社区），居住着藏族、汉族、门巴族、珞巴族等35个民族和僜巴，常住人口23.89万人。
林芝市属于中国水力资源富集区，拥有全中国最大的原始林区，是世界生物多样性最典型地区，水能理论蕴藏量1.43亿千瓦，森林覆盖率达47.6%。林芝是国际生态旅游区、全域旅游示范区和重要世界旅游目的地，拥有古老淳朴的工布文化和风格迥异的门珞民俗、僜人风情，拥有雅鲁藏布大峡谷、南迦巴瓦峰、巴松措等一大批自然景观，拥有太昭古城、千年古堡群等历史古迹和易贡将军楼、波密红楼等红色遗迹。

Impressive.. and this is very close to the Indian Northeast border. I have been to Arunachal Pradesh which is on the Indian side and it is nowhere close to the modernity, cleanliness and development of Nyingchi. In fact, not a single city in Northeast India is comparable to Nyingchi. This should be a wakeup call to India generally and Northeast India specifically.
