The Best Way to Spend 48 Hours in Puerto Escondido, Mexico!
We had the most amazing and jam-packed 48 hours in Puerto Escondido, Mexico. We started our exploring in La Punta, which is a really trendy and touristy part of Puerto Escondido that is known to be great spot for digital nomads. This area is great for cute coffee shops and shopping, and happens to be next to Zicatela Beach which is one of the most popular beaches in Puerto Escondido. We did a little sun bathing at Zicatela Beach while watching the surfers and the pretty intense waves that make this beach best for strong swimmers!
For lunch we headed to Zicatela Market which had great shops and venders in addition to the amazing authentic Mexican food options. We opted for the grilled fish and tostadas which we would highly recommend if you’re traveling to Puerto Escondido!
Puerto Escondido has many incredible beaches, and during our visit, we discovered that Bahia Principal is a much calmer swimming option than Zicatela Beach. There were tons of families swimming at Bahia Principal, but we were just passing through on our way to Puerto Escondido’s coastal walkway, called Andador Escénico. This pathway was built in the 90s and it’s age is really starting to show, but the scenes from this path were incredible. We recommend going at low tide though – it would be a bit of a scary walk at high tide! To end off our first day exploring Puerto Escondido, we headed back to Zicatela Beach for the best sunset views in Puerto Escondido.
For our second day of exploring, we treated ourselves to the best breakfast in town at a restaurant called Malagua – we can highly recommend a visit here! After picking up Evie from the Air BnB, we drove to Playa Coral and discovered we may have accidentally ended up at a nudist beach… we’re honestly still not sure. Either way, we had a great time enjoying another one of Puerto Escondido’s famed beaches before heading a little ways out of Puerto Escondido to Laguna de Manialtepic.
Laguna de Manialtepic is most famous for it’s bioluminescent plankton that are best seen at night. We joined a tour company called Explora Servicio Turistico for their mangrove tour of the laguna, and got to experience a beautiful boat ride as well as a stunning kayak through the mangroves (and the water lilies!). Explore Servicio Turistico also offers tours to view the bioluminescent plankton and they unexpectedly brought us into the water once it got dark enough to see the plankton! It was such a cool experience and we would highly recommend checking it out for yourself if you’re visiting Puerto Escondido. To book a tour with Explora Servicio Turistico, you can message or call +52 954 162 1843 or +52 954 126 8598 using Whats’App to book your own tour!

Safe to say..the food looks amazing! I would eat my way thru Mexico! The water is so clear and the area is beautiful! Safe travels to the three of you! Thanks for sharing.
Great video guys! The fish dish looks tasty, and the beach looks dope! Safe travels and look forward to your Oaxaca video! I'll be down there in October!
Hi Mico and Nicole. Hola from Guadalajara. Thank you for spending the $100 to take us to Laguna de Manialtepec. That got me thinking last week I renewed my YouTube premium for only $75 for the entire year. So worth it to see your wonderful videos! I also like YouTube music that comes with it to download songs for flying. Merle
Great vlog ❤
He guys how’s it going. Same thing happened to me had a blow out in puerto Escondido , went to buy new thongs and the locals just laughed at me when I asked for a size 13. Mexico has very limited size options. Can’t wait to get back there next year. Love your videos.
Oh no your poor shoe haha.
The beaches look really
The coastal walk looks so pretty but I would also be scared of falling off the edge too haha.
Aww Evie got a new beach friend!! I guess you have a new dog now haha.
The tour looked so good! How amazing to swim to swim with the glow in the luminous water. Xx
On one hand, I found Puerto Escondido (la punta) to be full of trust fund kids playing at being surfer dudes and dudettes (maybe not all the time, but it was when I was there). On the other hand – it's in Oaxaca and the food is just as good as the rest of the state! I don't know what it is with Oaxaca, but the food is even better than the excellent food everywhere else. On your way back up, when you stop in Acapulco you should do day trips to Pie de la Cuesta and Barra de Coyuca, but bring Evie.
Nicole dog becomes your good friend.😊
