黄色いフェリーで行く 東京→八丈島 荒天の海 10時間の旅
東京港から八丈島まで、フェリーで旅しました。
東海汽船の「橘丸」に乗船。
イラストレーターの柳原良平さんがデザインした黄色いフェリーです。
午後10時30分に東京港を出航し、八丈島には午前8時55分に到着します。
今回は「特等室」を22920円で予約。
通常だと、途中で三宅島と御蔵島に寄港します。
しかし今回は荒天のため、御蔵島には寄港できませんでした。
東京から八丈島へ10時間余りのフェリー旅、ぜひお楽しみください！
なお、車両を運搬できない橘丸は「フェリー」ではない、という見方もあると思います。
これについて東海汽船に問い合わせたところ「カーフェリーとの混同を避けるため『大型客船』と称していますが、『フェリー』と呼んで差し支えありません」とのことです。
つまり、橘丸はカーフェリーではないがフェリーではある、ということです。
当チャンネルでも、橘丸を「フェリー」と呼称します。

Speaking of the voyages to the Izu Islands, there was big news recently.
Disney and Oriental Land Co., Ltd. announced last week that they will invest 2.1 billion US dollars to build a new Disney Cruise ship by 2028. It will be a sister ship to the Disney Wish. It will be based in Tokyo and will be a Cruise Vacations service operating near the waters of Japan. Destinations will likely include the Izu Islands, and the Ogasawara Islands.

東海汽船の橘丸やさるびあ丸は車両甲板がないのでフェリーではなく貨客船といいます。おがさわら丸も同様です。
私もこんなフェリー🚢の長旅をやって見たかったです😭

Beautiful, my friend, esp that gorgeous sunrise! Hachijo—another interesting island. Everything is so clean, both the terminals really look so commodious; but, maybe that's just your particular 👁🗨. Curious as to the flag on the ship's funnel. AB

Great trip. It's great you visited another isolated island in the ocean again. Yeah the ferry company logo is inspired from Norway's flag. Yellow colour on ship actually not rare, but when it's applied on full body like this, it become rare, and yeah most yellow ship actually using darker shade and only applied small portion on the body/Fuselage. Is that the ship skipped one island because nobody embark or disembark in there? Can't wait for another video in this island.
