⁴ᴷ Niigata: Furumachi District (新潟県: 古町通) – Japan Walking Tour (July, 2024)
In July (June at the time of shooting), we will be heading to Niigata. To get to Niigata Prefecture, we will go through Fukushima and Yamagata Prefectures. I moved from Yamagata Prefecture to Niigata Prefecture.
A Tanabata festival at an arcade shopping street in Furumachi, Niigata? I thought it was a relatively new event, but it started recently. I saw some Tanabata decorations that were brought over from Sendai. For some reason, I was surprised to see a number of street musicians in the shopping arcade. And they were all solo musicians. In Niigata’s largest entertainment district, hostesses stand outside. Some of them are dressed in con-café style, but others are dressed in traditional hostess attire.
