👹From Namba-Osaka to Hida Takayama👹 | 飛騨高山で絶対食べるべき旅行ガイド | Things To Do, Food To Eat
Konnichiwa mina san, I am back again! I am now in Kansai International Airport. I was here exactly 12 months ago and I said I will come back soon. And here I am. Okay I’m in train station now. We have red color Nankai train and blue color JR train. This trip I’m going to take Nankai train to go to Namba Osaka direct. You have JR ticketing office and the vending machine on the right side. And the Nankai ticketing office and ticketing machine on the left side. Okay that’s my train, Nankai limited express rapid, 15:05 to Namba Osaka. Osaka is just another city to me. The only reason I come here is because it is the best gateway for me to get to Central Japan, my main purpose for this trip. I checked into the same boutique hotel, Vessel Inn again this time. It has the smallest, squeezy room I have ever stayed. But it has the best location, next to Dotonbori and Namba Station, and the room rate met my expectation. The one and only thing that makes me excited about Osaka is the Kuromon Market. There are so many things to eat and buy here. And what really intrigues me is the monster seafood here. This is not something I have back home. Ohayo gozaimasu, everyone. The time now is about 20 minute past 7. I’ve just checked out my hotel. I’m on my way to Osaka City Air Terminal to take my express bus to Gifu’s Takayama. Finally! Once I reach Namba Station, based on Google Map, I’m supposed to turn right and keep walking right, nonstop to the end and that will be Osaka City Air Terminal. Keep walking straight. OCAT, Osaka City Air Terminal. And I know if I see a travellator, that means I am on the correct path. The bus terminal is at level 2. Okay, the bus terminal at 2nd floor. Yes, this is the escalator. Hida Takayama, platform 4. Let’s go. I come to Central Japan at this time for three reasons. One, to film the two days only Takayama Festival. Two, to visit Shirakawa-go. And three, for cherry blossom. Alright, ladies and gentlemen, finally the moment has come, I’ve reached Takayama. And that is the start of exciting time here at Gifu’s Takayama. Okay, a quick room tour. A small hotel room size. Automatic toilet bowl as usual and a bathtub. Queen size bed as I’ve requested, Electric kettle, very convenient. And across road, that is Takayama train station and the bus station. Alright, about the weather, the weather now here at Takayama is 24°. The winter just over, we are starting spring now so I thought it’ll be cold. Nope, it’s 24° and it’s, the sun is slightly scorching. Not very. Okay, this is the popular Sanmachi Suji. It’s an old street with all the buildings preserved since Edo period. It’s a little bit like Kyoto’s Gion’s Hanami-Koji except that in Hanami-Koji, filming is not allowed along the street. But here you can do filming and photo taking for all you want. But it is also pretty crowded. This outlet selling takeaway Hida beef skewer. Okay, let’s try one skewer of Hida beef. Hida beef skewer with Japanese pepper and salt. Let’s see how it tastes like. Okay I’ll say it’s not bad, soft and tender. With the salt and pepper, it really adds to the flavour. Okay this outlet selling famous dango in Takayama. Dango is a, actually is a Japanese dumpling (made) with rice flour and then grill it. Not my type. This is one of the locations where they hold the Yatai, the float. Alright, we still have some cherry blossom although it is end of the season now. But let’s take a moment to immerse into this entire lane of cherry blossom. Oh, that is Japanese fried noodle. Oh this is beautiful. This feels like Kyoto’s Kamogawa. The sun is setting down soon. Ohayo gozaimasu. The time now is 20 minutes past 7. The temperature 13°. Not very windy So, not too bad. The first thing to do in the morning here at Takayama is to visit Takayama’s morning market called Miyagawa Morning Market. It is drizzling now. But I kind of don’t mind, as long as it doesn’t turn into a heavy rain. Because, you know, walking under light rain in this beautiful old town of Takayama, it really gives a different feel. It’s the end of cherry blossom season, look at the petals falling off everywhere on the road. Natural wood and polyester resin. Every design, one and only. Okay I’ll take this. The number one reason for coming to Takayama is to film their Spring Festival. I have edited a separate video for that. Please refer to the link in the description below. Hida Takayama Retro Museum. Goodness me! I know her, 松田圣子. Oh, Akina, 中森明菜. That will reveal my age. Haha! The diva during my (youth) time, from Japan 松田圣子 Takayama Jinya, this is an old Government office during Edo period. Still well preserved. There were many in the past but if I’m not wrong, today, this is the only one left. It is a museum now. Another thing to do here at Takayama is to go for Higashiyama Walking Trail or Walking Course to visit temples and the castle ruin. Wow there is a park here and I smell barbecue. I’m going to buy something to eat here. Takayama but aww, it’s a blocked view. I don’t want to go back by the same way. It says that there’s a shrine down the slope. Let’s go down and check it out. Wow! Steep! Okay from the slope, I reached here. This is the shrine it was talking about. Apparently, I am the only tourist here. How cool is that! Holy smoke! What a lovely place here and there is no tourist! Okay guys, here comes my Hida beef. There is a fun activity you must not miss while you are here. That is, sake tasting. There are few breweries here, I picked Funasaka Sake Brewery. Step one, buy a sake cup at 100yen. Step two, buy tokens for sake vending machine. I bought five tokens at 500yen. Step three, choose the sake flavor you wish to try and pay with the token. This is number 13. Taste the best because It has a fruity taste. This number 13 sake taste the best. It actually taste like lemon juice. Okay that is a fantastic sake tasting. I felt something. Just 5 cups but I’m not tipsy. It’s a good experience. If you come to Takayama, make sure you go for your sake tasting. I’m ending my video here as it is getting too lengthy. Please stay tuned for my next video the 2nd reason for coming to Takayama – The stunning Shirakawa-go.
