Sunset at Komori Coast Ushibuka Town, Amakusa City Explanation of the sunset on the Komori Coast. The west coast area of Amakusa is known for its beautiful sunsets over the East China Sea. The city of Amakusa is trying to promote the region by showcasing the beautiful sunsets of its hometown, and has named eight particularly beautiful spots as the "Amakusa Eight Sunset Views." Today I’m here to introduce the "Sunset at Komori Coast," which has been selected as one of the eight most scenic sunsets in Amakusa. This coast is located on the west coast of Gesu Island, the southernmost island of Amakusa. Nowadays, Gesu Island is connected to Amakusa Shimo Island by a bridge, but it was a completely isolated island until the bridge was completed in 1971. As a result, the incredibly beautiful sea and nature remain even today. Right in front of Komori Coast is the Eboshi Pit, a historic site that marks the site of an undersea coal mine. The arched mine entrance, constructed of red bricks and other materials, along with the stone breakwater, has withstood 120 years and remains in its original form to this day. Further beyond the remains of the coal mine you can see Oshima Island and Ryusen Island, and the vast waters of the East China Sea stretch out to the horizon. The sunset view from here has been selected as one of the "100 Best Sunsets in Japan." Today I am at Komori Coast in Ushibuka Town, Amakusa City. First of all, I must apologize. Today, clouds will come out in the evening and we won’t be able to show you the beautiful sunset. "Sunset on the Komori Coast" will be covered next time. Instead, I was able to capture some interesting footage. It is a scene of fishing boats all setting out at once. Please enjoy. Oshima Island Ryusen Island / Eboshi Pit Remains I don’t think it’s possible to see the sunset today. So I decided to change my focus to photographing the light from the lighthouse.
