Find Your Japan ANA SFC Monk’s Rest Onomichi Sightseeing 5 Sightseeing Spots in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture Onomichi offers great deals on accommodations and Onomichi ramen noodles! I visited Shimanami Kaido during my SFC training. When I crossed to Hiroshima side, I found Onomichi waterway. Onomichi City I immediately thought it was an austere townscape, but what is a street cafe? I don’t know. Onomichi is a city of hills, a city of movies, and a tourist city known as one of the five sacred places of anime. First, we will visit Senkoji Park, which has an amazing view north of the center of Onomichi. 1 View of Onomichi City at Senkoji Park. Since it was a holiday, the parking lot was full, so we parked in front of the temporary school building of Tsuchido Elementary School Senkouji. Walk through the park to the Onomichi Museum of Art, Lover’s Square, and the observation deck! The uphill in Senkoji Park is long and quite tiring. But the flowers are beautiful. There was some kind of strange tower standing there. What is this? A monkey mountain? I wonder if there was some kind of animal… This is the place where you can see wisteria flowers and chisui cherry blossoms. It is said to be the Senko spring water of this Onomichi Sanzan, which has been a source of various mysteries since ancient times. This modern building is the Onomichi City Museum of Art. Let’s go to the Lover’s Square on the west side before going to the Senkoji direction on the east side. There was a tourist guide, but Senkoji Park is quite large. It is for those who can walk. I thought there was an amazing concession stand, but it was an animal shelter called Sakura Mimi Yochien. Walking to the west end of the building, there is some kind of observatory… What a pity and disappointment. We walked quite a bit, but it was now off-limits. Wow, retro car. I want to see the same view as the observatory! A slight view of the Onomichi waterway. Tears It is a statue of Yutaka Tsuchiya, a former member of the House of Representatives and mayor of Onomichi. On the back, Yutaka Tsuchiya’s achievements were inscribed. Here is another manhole typical of Onomichi. Recently, manholes with patterns are popular among foreign tourists. I could see a little bit of the Onomichi waterway. I will go to a place where I can see more. Senkoji Park is the site of the 100 best cherry blossom viewing spots. Definitely recommended sightseeing spot: Senkoji Summit Observatory PEAK. You can see it now, can’t you? Onomichi waterway. Climb up to PEAK and take a stiff shot! It’s a very modern observatory. It is climbing up a spiral slope. This is an unusual way to climb the observatory. I’ve never seen anything like this before. Senkoji Summit Observatory PEAK Ya~y! I feel like I’ve come to Onomichi! Wow – a quiet Seto Inland Sea townscape. This is it. This is what I was expecting. So this is the Onomichi waterway. The view from here is without a doubt one of the best views of Onomichi. Support us by subscribing to our channel! I am going to Senkoji Temple now, so I will go down the stairs on the east side. From here, we will descend again, this time along a mountain path to Senkoji Temple. You are going through this place, aren’t you? Amazing! A ropeway was descending toward the base station on the east side of the mountain. 2 The second tourist attraction in Onomichi is Senkoji Temple! Senko-ji Temple looks like a temple with a very deep history. The downhill incline is quite steep and I am scared. It is a very different temple. The cliffs are also amazing. The Onomichi waterway can be seen beautifully from Senkoji Temple. Oddly shaped rocks Double rocks are scary because they look like they might fall. Senkoji Temple and the Onomichi waterway are picturesque no matter where you take the picture. I refrained from photographing the main hall. There are stairs and the path to the temple is quite demanding. Ishizuchi, you have to climb up a cliff while holding a chain. It is impossible for me. There is something strange sounding. 33 Kannon Hall Here, people tickle large prayer beads made of cherry wood to cancel out their vexations. Onomichi City has a nostalgic Japanese landscape here. This drum rock makes a clanking sound and is a wonderful photo spot. We finally arrived at the parking lot. Ha~ I am tired. The streets of Onomichi city are really calming and nostalgic. Before we get to that, let’s take a look at today’s best value (Airb) lodging near here. The Aoyama Mansion near the foot station of the ropeway is today’s accommodation. The stairs were a little rusty as it is a sea town, but you can stay there for 7-8,000 yen. I think it is quite cheap in Onomichi. It’s an Airb, so it’s a regular apartment. The entrance is a bit small, but it looks like a student apartment. There is a kitchen, a washing machine, and the room is fully equipped and clean. I’m really happy with the washing machine while traveling! There is a mini kitchen and a refrigerator, which is sufficient. Beds were bunk beds but clean. The microwave, microwave kettle, and dishes were also new. There are beaded cushions and room to spread out your luggage. The balcony was free of debris but a bit dirty, so we did not dry it outside. Toilet and bath are units. Amenities were adequate. In fact, it is within easy reach of Senkoji Temple, the shopping district, and famous Onomichi ramen stores. This is Tomoyo Harada, the girl who leaps through time! We are almost to the Kajiyama Clock Shop in The Girl Who Leapt Through Time Kajiyama Clock Shop Our generation all watched it. This is awesome, awesome! The surrounding area is also quite retro, which is quite valuable in the 2025 era. This is another amazing store. What is it, a cafe? Onomichi Sanyo This street is Tenjinmachi Historical Resource Street, from where you will reach another spot. It doesn’t feel like a business, what is it, a hobby? Above this is a shrine called Misode-tenmangu Shrine. What is this stone wall? It looks like it is not just a stone wall of a shrine. This is the approach to Fukuzenji Temple. This area is nostalgic with many shrines and temples. It is a beautiful temple, but it is surprising that it was built in 1573. Finally, it’s Tile Alley for the Girl Who Leapt Through Time! Wow, wow, it is deteriorating, but is this it? Tile alley also feels the passage of time. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time Tile Alley Tomoyo Harada, who played the student, was really cute. Yes, the tour of the Girl Who Leapt Through Time is over, so I am leaving. The vacant land is quite jungle-like. Nevertheless, it was quite a tasteful street with a sense of Onomichi’s history. 4 Onomichi Hondori Shopping Street Walk through the long, long central street of Onomichi. Onomichi Main Street Shopping Street Just a short walk from where you are staying, there are some old shops remaining that are over 100 years old. There are Fumiko Street, Tsuchido-naka Shopping Street, Honmachi Center Street, E-no-machi Street, and Onomichi Street Onomichi Hondori Shopping Street is one of the longest shopping streets in Japan, stretching approximately 1.2 kilometers in length. About 210 stores are said to line the street, which has a retro Showa-era atmosphere. Nostalgic Onomichi Ramen Moon Tenshin. Oh, I want to eat Onomichi Ramen tonight. The shopping street is arcade, so you can enjoy it even on rainy days. You can also walk along the coastal street along the sea parallel to the Hondori shopping street. Shoaido Onomichi main store had delicious lemon cake and hassaku daifuku. Oops! I’m glad I’m in Center Street and not Shibuya. There was a very large vacant lot next to the Onomichi Honmachi Center Shopping Center Promotion Association on the left. I thought it was a public bathhouse, but it was the Koronbori Bar Yamato Yu. It was a tavern. Ah! Swallows! Onomichi Fumiko Hayashi Memorial Museum and Onomichi Ramen Hinode Restaurant! This is a regular train going up from Onomichi Station on the Sanyo Main Line. It has a taste~. Onomichi Station Well, well, well. Onomichi Ramen & Izakaya Torikawa Gonbei is in line. 5 From Onomichi Station, walk along the promenade by the sea. The sunset from Onomichi station is beautiful! We are now going to the promenade along the sea. There are fashionable waterfront areas such as Onomichi WHARF and U2. The Onomichi waterway is right in front of you. It is very tasteful at dusk. It is calm. Avec all over the place. I wish you happiness 💖. Mukojima-bound ferry terminal Onomichi WHARF Oops. Is that a Chinese tourist walking in front of me? There are many different boats, but what kind of boat is it? Is it a ferry? On the other side of the river is a car carrier. It is a very large ship. Oh, look, there is a building over there called U2, which is an old warehouse that has been converted. Let’s go there. There were many fashionable bicycles. It’s very current. The U2 based on this warehouse is very cool. This kind of reuse is great. M-M-M Why? Is this sign written in English? This is the Onomichi Police Station. Now, it’s time for some local gourmet food. Sightseeing in Onomichi ends here. Next stop is Onomichi Gourmet! Yay! Japanese style dining Ichimaru Kitchen. You can enjoy octopus dishes. Japanese Dining Ichimaru Kitchen What a full house! It is recommended to make a reservation as it is a popular restaurant. It is near Onomichi International Hotel, but there was also Onomichi Ramen Onomichi Ichiban! Wabo Mansaku A delicious Japanese restaurant in Onomichi. The restaurant is too good to refrain from taking pictures. The sashimi was very delicious. This is the only video. Please forgive me. Onomichi Ramen Ichibankan Honten Maruboshi Gyu-chan Onomichi are famous restaurants. Onomichi Ramen Ushichan Onomichi Branch This time, we will have Onomichi Ramen here because the restaurant staff was very nice! Yaay 💖 It was a very tasty one. It was delicious~! I am full, but I am curious about the local convenience store. Amazing~! You sell a heap of Setoda lemon crème bread. Ehh~~! I’ve never seen a bar in Lawson before~! Baicha!
