Maejima is an island located between Maejima Bridge (Bridge No. 4) and Matsushima Bridge (Bridge No. 5) of the Amakusa Five Bridges. In this corner there is an artificial beach, 200 metres long but covered in beautiful white sand. The beach is not well known due to its small size. For that reason, it’s a spot where you can experience the atmosphere of a private beach. The sea is shallow and the waves are calm, and it’s a great spot with a great view of the various islands, large and small, floating in front of the beach. This time we visited at low tide, so you can clearly see how shallow the water is far out on the beach. The only facilities available are a parking lot (capacity for about 30 cars) and portable toilets. But the free parking is an attraction. Like other beaches in Amakusa, the beach opens on July 1st.
