春の京都　桜巡り 2024_08　府立植物園

Now that May is here, I’m starting to feel a little nostalgic for the cherry blossom season. This time, we will take a look at the cherry blossoms at Kyoto Botanical Garden. The blooming of cherry blossoms this year in 2024 has been significantly delayed compared to last year. Under such circumstances, on April 1st, I visited the Kyoto Botanical Garden to photograph the cherry blossoms. In Kyoto, Yoshino cherry trees were not yet in full bloom even in April. Well, what about the cherry blossoms in the botanical garden… Subway Karasuma Line. From Exit 3 of Kitayama Station, head towards the Kitayama Gate of the Prefectural Botanical Garden. As soon as you go up the stairs, there is Kitasanmon. The cherry blossom illumination commemorating the park’s 100th anniversary will be held from March 23rd to April 7th. It is held from sunset until 9pm. This video shows cherry blossoms during the day. We plan to take a look at the illuminations next time during our Kyoto night walk. Stay tuned. Admission fee is 200 yen for adults. High school student 150 yen. Admission is free for junior high school students and younger and those over 70 years old. Purchase a ticket and enter the park. We entered the park after 4pm. Now, I’m looking forward to seeing how much it blooms. First, let’s take a look at the Cherry Blossom Variety Exhibition Garden. We will head to the Cherry Blossom Variety Exhibition Garden while watching the Yuki Willow and Forsythia in full bloom. Last year, all the cherry blossoms in the sample garden were in bloom. However, this year, they seem to be blooming at their respective flowering times. The deep pink ”Kouyou” was in full bloom. ”Koshinohigan” is also almost in full bloom. There are approximately 100 varieties of cherry blossoms at this cherry blossom variety exhibition garden. This year, as the sign says, it looks like it’s going to be fun for a long time. After seeing the cherry garden, we headed to the cherry blossom grove. There are two cherry blossom viewing spots within the botanical garden: the aforementioned ”Cherry Blossom Variety Exhibition Garden” and ”cherry garden’’. In the cherry blossom grove, you can see several varieties, mainly Someiyoshino and Benishidare. Now, I’m looking forward to seeing how much it blooms. The cherry blossoms in Sakurabayashi are about 50% in bloom…? That’s what it feels like. Among them, the wild cherry blossoms were almost in full bloom. Eventually, the sun will set to the west and the lights will turn on. Next time: ”Kyoto Night Walk”.
