春の京都　桜巡り 2024_05 円山公園　祇園枝垂

Kyoto shines in spring.
The blooming of cherry blossoms this year in 2024 has been significantly delayed compared to last year.
On March 31st, I took a photo of the illuminated Gion Shidare in Maruyama Park.
The next day, April 1st, was a nice change from yesterday’s cloudy weather.
This shoot was planned to take place over two days and one night.
So, I decided to take this as a chance and
head to Maruyama Park again to photograph Gion Shidare first thing in the morning.
Take the 203 system heading east on Shijo-dori towards Gion.
Turn left at Gion intersection and head towards Gion C bus stop.
Since it’s my first time riding today, I swipe my one-day ticket through the reader and get off the bus.
We arrived at Yasaka-san’s at 8am.
The precincts of Yasaka Shrine, which were crowded yesterday,
are less popular and quieter at this time of day.
Enter Maruyama Park from Yasaka Shrine.
When you pass through the open air before the store opens…
Gion Shidare will appear on your left.
Gion Shidare stands out against the blue sky.

As I moved deeper into the park, I saw that the flowers were beginning to bloom a little.
The morning dew was making polka dots on the cherry blossom petals.
Waking up early is one of the three virtues.
I was able to see some good things.
The cherry blossoms, which were just buds until yesterday,
were blooming one after another, attracted by the cheerful weather.

Approximately 20 minutes to Gion C bus stop.
Gion Shidare is about a 5 minute walk away.
