“Kathmandu was one of the most overwhelming and visual cities I’ve ever been to. Dust, music, marigolds. From an open window, the smell of incense mixes into the chaotic city streets. Outside of this Buddhist stupa hundreds of people walk clockwise spinning prayer wheels for good luck.
On some unseen signal – a plane passing overhead or a child running through the courtyard – and all the birds suddenly soar together. Like any special moment, this shot was partially planning and a lucky dose of perfect timing.
