I did the same tour last year. Sawara is a really beautiful town. Definitely worth a visit.
Interesting to learn about Ino Tadataka. And respect to him for walking through most of Japan at his old age and accurately mapping it out (aided by the use of astronomy)!
P.S. My favourite features from the Edo period are traffic lights and phone booths 😂
