■桜絶景①: 中橋
中橋は、飛騨高山の中心部を流れる宮川に架かる橋で、「日本百名橋」の一つに数えられます。中橋は飛騨高山のシンボル的な観光名所となっており、周辺は桜や柳の木が並び、朱色の橋と調和しています。高山祭で屋台がこの橋を通るシーンも有名です。所々、宮川の河原に降りられるようになっており、中橋を下から見上げることも可能です。
■桜絶景②: 江名子川
江名子川(えなごがわ)は、高山市街のやや東側を流れる小さな河川で、江戸時代に高山城(陣屋)を囲む堀の役目を果たした川でした。江名子川沿いに古い町並みが残り、白壁と桜が調和しています。中橋が架かる宮川よりも静かな雰囲気の中でお花見を楽しめ、歌舞伎にちなんだ橋や、横丁のある懐かしい景観が残ります。
■桜絶景③: 友好の丘公園
友好の丘公園は、高山市街の西方の丘にある公園で、「飛騨の里」の入口に位置し、「飛騨民俗村」も隣接します。友好の丘は、北アルプスの絶好の展望地で、立山連峰から槍ヶ岳・穂高岳・乗鞍岳などを一望でき、春には、北アルプスの名峰群と桜の絶景を満喫できます。
■桜絶景④: 飛騨東照宮
飛騨東照宮(ひだとうしょうぐう)は、高山市街の南西に位置する神社で、別名「松泰寺」(しょうたいじ)ともいい、徳川家康公を祀っています。全国に550ほどある東照宮の一つで、規模は小さいですが、建物の配置は日光東照宮に似ています。高山市街の南西方向の丘陵地に鎮座しており、境内からは北アルプスの山々が望めます。
■桜絶景⑤: 飛騨護國神社
飛騨護國神社(ひだごこくじんじゃ)は、高山市街の南方にある神社で、西南戦争から太平洋戦争までの飛騨出身の戦没者を祀っています。かつての飛騨高山城の三の丸跡地に鎮座しており、本丸などがあった城山公園の登山口も近くにあり、現在も実質的に城山公園と一体となっています。護国神社を取り囲む堀も、高山城跡の水堀の名残です。堀のすぐ外側には、高山の古い町並みが続きます。
■桜絶景⑥: 高山城跡(城山公園)
城山公園(しろやまこうえん)は、高山市街の南方にある広大な森林公園で、戦国時代から江戸時代前期に存在した高山城の跡地にあり、「日本の歴史公園100選」「森林浴の森100選」に選ばれています。飛騨国の領主だった金森長近が江戸時代初期に完成させた城で、1659年に幕府の命令で廃城となり、建物も取り壊されました。かつての三の丸跡地に鎮座する護国神社には桜が多いですが、城山公園の山頂付近にはあまり桜は見られません。山頂には高山城の石垣が見られるほか、北アルプスの山々が望め、立山連峰から槍ヶ岳・乗鞍岳まで、名峰群を見渡せます。
■桜絶景⑦: 賀茂神社のお旅所
賀茂神社のお旅所(かもじんじゃのおたびしょ)は、飛騨高山の近郊にある静かな公園で、樹齢550年と樹齢450年2本、合計3本の巨桜が見られる園地です。3本の巨桜は市の保存樹に指定され「賀茂桜」と命名されました。
■桜絶景⑧: 臥龍桜
臥龍桜(がりゅうざくら)は、岐阜県高山市一之宮町にある巨桜(一本桜)で、龍が地に臥しているように見えることからその名が付いたといわれています。樹齢は1100年を越えるといわれ、国の「天然記念物」に指定されています。樹高約20m、枝張り約30m、幹周り約7.3mで、枝が変形して「龍の頭」の形に見える部分もあります。
