【寄港地ベトナム観光編】 ロイヤルカリビアンのクルーズ船で行く10日間シンガポール→ベトナム→タイ→シンガポールの旅 (Vol.2)
This time we are going on a cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Spectrum Of The Seas. This is the second video from Singapore, Vietnam, and Thailand. If you haven’t seen the first video yet, please check it out as well. This channel also includes useful information for cruise travel and living abroad.
Please subscribe to the channel if you like. This time, I had a lot of trouble getting to the sightseeing spots in Vietnam, my port of call. In the video, the things I struggled with on this trip. Also, advice for those who are planning to take a cruise trip.
We will be providing you with a variety of information, so please read this article until the end. 4th day of cruise trip. We left Singapore on the evening of the second day. After a full day of cruising, we arrived at our first port of call, Phu My, Vietnam. good morning.
When I woke up in the morning, the ship had already arrived at the port of call. Everyone seems to be busy preparing to disembark at the port of call first thing in the morning.
The first thing in the morning is crowded, so we plan to eat breakfast on the ship and then slowly get off the ship. Actually, the port of call this time was exactly as shown in this table when I first made the reservation. The fourth day was Nha Trang, Vietnam.
Phu My on the 5th day. Vietnam was scheduled to call at two ports. However, as we neared departure time, the schedule changed. There is only one port of call in Vietnam, Phu My. It was a bit disappointing to lose one port of call.
In return, we received a refund of $100 per person and $200 for 2 people. This can also be used on board during a cruise. Since we didn’t use it, this money was later refunded to our credit card in Japanese yen. 9:30am.
After disembarking the ship, a shuttle bus will take passengers to the port entrance. It wasn’t until I arrived in Vietnam that I was able to get a full view of this ship. Depending on the port, like Singapore, you may not be able to take photos near the ship.
At this port, you can freely take photos and videos of the entire ship. I came out to the entrance of the port, but I couldn’t grab a Grab at all. Grab doesn’t seem to be able to get this far. So I decided to go by bike.
Instead, since I don’t have any money, I ask them to stop by an ATM. It’s like 20 USD for two people. I don’t really understand the true market price. You may wonder if this is expensive, but we have no other means of transportation, so it can’t be helped.
I had agreed with the motorbike driver that he would first withdraw money from an ATM and then give me a ride to a town called Vung Tau. This choice was a big mistake. I came to an ATM at a mall about 10 minutes away by bike.
I used the Wise Debit Card to get the local currency, Vietnamese Dongs. As long as you have Japanese yen in your Wise account, you can withdraw as much local currency as you need at an ATM. Wise is the perfect card for cruise travelers visiting multiple countries.
When I withdrew money from the ATM and paid it, I was suddenly told that I couldn’t go to Vung Tau. The driver tried to convince me that this was a mall similar to Vung Tau.
No matter how much I tried, they still didn’t make it clear, so I asked for about half of the refund, and we parted ways. This can’t be helped. Also, the internet is available throughout Southeast Asia, but it’s really bad in Vietnam.
I’m really having trouble because I can only connect to the internet for a moment. It’s like being caught by a strange motorcycle taxi. From now on, I would like to head to Vung Tau if possible. Now, please excuse me. It’s 11:31. I just took a taxi.
I was dropped off by a motorcycle taxi in a very strange place. I looked for a taxi there but couldn’t find one. It’s not a tourist spot or anything. I had no choice but to find an unauthorized taxi.
Instead, based on what I mentioned earlier, I told them that I would like to pay at the end. It’s 70 USD. It was now 11:30 and we agreed to be back at the port by 5pm.
At first I was told it would be 80 USD, so I tried to negotiate, but they wouldn’t lower it below 70 USD. We don’t have any means of transportation, so I think people are watching their feet. It was a little unexpected that I couldn’t use Grab at all.
There is a reason why we decided to go to Vung Tau on our own this time. The only tour that could be booked by boat was a sightseeing tour to Ho Chi Minh, and there was no tour to Vung Tau.
Also, Ho Chi Minh is close to the airport, but it takes about 2 hours by car from the port where the ship arrived. Vung Tau, on the other hand, is 48 minutes from the port.
Rather than signing up for an expensive tour and going to Ho Chi Minh, which is far from the port and easily accessible by plane. I made this choice because I thought it would be better to go to a tourist spot near the port and eat some delicious local food.
After about 50 minutes by taxi, we arrived at our destination, restaurant Co Ba. This is Vung Tau, and the food is said to be delicious. Even Vietnamese people from Ho Chi Minh come here to try the food. Now, let’s enter the store.
When I entered the store, it was already lunch time, so it was quite crowded. When I looked around the store, I saw that it was mostly full of Vietnamese customers. As soon as I sat down, a waiter brought me a plate of lettuce, shiso leaves, herbs, and other chopped vegetables.
I also placed wet tissues on the table. This dish seems to be eaten with this vegetable. After a while, the Vung Tau specialty Banh Khot that I ordered arrived. It looks like a small crepe with something like fishballs and green onions on top. I also ordered a different type of Banh Khot.
This one has shrimp on it, but all the other ingredients seem to be the same. If you flatten the takoyaki and put the ingredients on it, it will probably look like this. Place this on top of the vegetables that were brought to you first and roll it up.
Then, dip it into the sauce in this bowl. What does it taste like? For drinks, I ordered coconut juice. When I tried drinking it, the coconut here was extremely sweet and delicious. Now, my wife and I will share two types of Banh Khot in half.
Spread out a large piece of lettuce and top with shiso leaves and other herbs. Then put the main body and the chopped vegetables on top and wrap it tightly in the lettuce. We have plenty of vegetables, so let’s use them lavishly. Once wrapped in lettuce, serve generously with the sauce.
Banh Khot is really delicious. The freshly fried body inside the lettuce is crispy. The sauce is fish sauce, and although it looks light in color at first glance, it has a very strong flavor. The sauce mixes with the lettuce and gives it an exquisite flavor.
Since the main dish is fried, I expected it to be a little greasy. It’s eaten with lettuce and plenty of herbs, so it’s not greasy at all. It’s very refreshing and crunchy to eat. It was really delicious, and I’m glad I went through all the trouble.
I was still hungry after eating one plate, so I ordered Goi Cuon, fresh spring rolls. It also came with peanut sauce. Serve fresh spring rolls with this sauce. When I tried it, it tasted a little different from what I had imagined. To be honest, I think this tastes better when eaten in Japan.
Rather than ordering this, I should have ordered another plate of Banh Khot. One final word. Many people just drink coconut juice, but that alone is a waste. Young coconuts have white flesh inside their shells. If you scrape the inside with a spoon, you will be able to remove the plumy white flesh.
Only young coconuts have this pulp, but this pulp is also delicious, so we recommend it. After eating and drinking this much, we spent 236,000 Vietnamese Dongs for two people. 1,534 yen in Japanese yen. This is quite cheap, isn’t it?
After lunch, head to a dessert shop located 5 minutes away by taxi for a delicious dessert. I have just arrived at the store. The main street is visible on that side. When you enter the small road from there, you will find the store that you wanted to visit this time.
I don’t know how to read it, but there is a store called Kem Bo Sau Rieng. Kem Bo means ice cream and Sau Rieng means durian. It will be called Durian Ice Shop.
It was hard to see the store sign because it was hidden by plants, but I was glad that it was open. This is a delicious dessert from this shop. Avocado durian ice cream. The price is 55,000 Vietnamese Dongs. In Japanese yen, it is 357 yen. Now, let’s have this ice cream right away.
The yellow thing on top is durian. The green part at the bottom is the avocado. I have eaten durian in Bali many times, but this is my first time trying durian in Vietnam. What does it taste like? First, let’s start with durian.
When I tried it, I found that it was a very sweet durian. The color is darker than the durian from Bali, and the taste and sweetness are quite strong. The smell of durian is not very strong.
I think it will be easy to eat even for those who are trying durian for the first time. The white thing next to it is coconut ice cream. Dried coconut fruit is also included. The avocado part at the bottom is also rich and delicious. It’s delicious no matter where you eat it.
It was a very high quality dessert. I think this dessert will definitely be popular even if sold in Japan. If you come to Vung Tau, please try this ice cream. It’s now 14:22. This time I’m heading to the port. Something like this.
Initially, in Vietnam, I was planning to go to two restaurants and one place for dessert. I was full at the first restaurant. I think I’ll just go to the dessert shop I wanted to eat and then head back to the port.
The scariest thing is that if you are late for the last boarding at 6pm, you will be left behind. It is really difficult to be left in a place where English is not spoken. I think I’ll go back a little early.
It would be like chartering a taxi just to have a delicious meal. If I could connect to the internet, I would have been able to do some more research. I thought it was really inconvenient not to be able to connect to the internet.
I wish I could use Grab more when I go to Thailand. I would like to return to the port now. 15:20. I was able to safely board the shuttle bus at the entrance of the port. You can rest assured that you will be taken to the ship by bus from here for free.
My advice to those who are planning to call at Phu My Port on a cruise ship. Please note that Grab taxis cannot be used in this area for some reason.
Even if someone offers to pick you up and drop you off on a motorbike for a cheap price, there’s a chance they’ll take you to a different location. So it’s better not to ride it in the first place. There are no ATMs at the port and no money exchange shops nearby.
If you are heading towards Vung Tau, take a taxi and ask to stop at an ATM on the way. You can withdraw local currency using your Wise Debit Card or as a cash advance from your credit card.
Alternatively, prepare the local currency, Vietnamese Dongs, at a currency exchange office in Singapore, the port of departure. This is because the restaurants, dessert shops, and taxis I introduced this time did not accept credit cards at all. You will need some cash.
If there’s a place you’d like to go on an onboard tour, sign up for it even if it’s a little expensive. If you can’t find where you want to go on your tour, negotiate with an unlicensed taxi driver waiting at the port entrance. These are the precautions for Phu My Port.
When we got back to the ship, there were many buses stopped and people who had enjoyed the tour getting off the buses. Boat tours are a little more expensive, but you can leave immediately after getting off the boat.
You can enjoy your tour with peace of mind as you will always arrive in time for the ship to depart on your return trip. As soon as we got back to the ship, we changed into our swimsuits and went straight to the jacuzzi.
My legs get more tired than usual when I go sightseeing, so the ship’s Jacuzzi really helps. The pool and jacuzzi are empty, either because everyone hasn’t returned from sightseeing yet or because they’re tired and staying in their rooms. I tried swimming a little. The pool is a little short.
If you swim, you will reach the other side immediately, so it is a little unsatisfactory for those who want to swim properly. After getting tired from swimming, you can relax on the balcony of your room while watching the sunset over Vietnam.
At this port, if you choose a room on the balcony on the left side of the ship, you can see a beautiful sunset like this while the ship is anchored. A large ship passes slowly in front of it. The clouds are flowing.
No matter how many times you see the sky changing colors as the sun sets, you will never get tired of it. Today we went to our usual restaurant for dinner. While waiting for your meal, you are free to eat the bread on the table.
There are about 3 to 4 types of this bread, including cheese bread and French bread. All of them are delicious, so I always end up eating a lot of them. If you eat too much, you will be full when the main dish comes, so be careful. Soup for appetizer today too.
The main dish was a very tender Japanese beef steak. Delicious desserts and coffee. We had a sumptuous dinner. As I was walking around the ship after dinner, I saw Bumper Cars at the Sea Plex, so I joined them.
Just driving around isn’t fun, so this time I did an unpopular driving experience where I had fun just bumping into my wife’s car. My wife was also used to it and was able to easily dodge it. It’s a go-kart where anything goes, and even adults can have a lot of fun.
Next, the table tennis table on the second floor was empty, so I played with my wife again. Traditionally, when inns and hotels have ping pong tables, people always play against each other. Even on a cruise ship, if there is an open table tennis table, your body will move as a conditioned reflex. 21:45.
There was a show called Duo Free Action at the Royal Theater today, so I went to see it. A pair of a man and a woman. They skillfully use the cloth on the stage to dance in time to the music, and at times they dance with an elegance that resembles a ballet.
Sometimes he uses cloth to perform movements similar to circus acrobatics. You can enjoy the delicate movements unique to women and the powerful performances of men. Although it must have been difficult with a series of incredible techniques, it was a truly wonderful show that looked graceful to the viewers. good morning.
It’s now 6 o’clock in the morning. Today is a full day on the boat, so it’s a day to enjoy the event. If there’s an event that looks fun, I’ll try to participate. Then I’m going to take a shower and go have breakfast. 7:45am. After eating breakfast, we participated in Sunrise Exercise.
Since it was the first program in the morning, I thought I would be able to relax and participate. Just when I was full from the breakfast buffet, I suddenly had a series of jumps. This was honestly tough. Muscle training for 45 seconds. Then take a 15 second break.
It’s just a series of hard muscle training. It was a pretty demanding program, similar to Billy’s Bootcamp. 8:30. Next time I moved to Cafe@Two70 and did Morning Stretch. This program will help you stretch each part of your body. I participate every day except on port days.
You can participate in this program without worrying even if you are full after breakfast. 9:15am. Once you’ve relaxed your body through stretching, it’s time to try Morning Dance Exercise. Dance to the music and to the instructor. It’s quite fun to move your body.
Don’t forget to bring water as you will be sweating a lot from the dance moves. We recommend joining Morning Stretch as a set so you can dance with a relaxed body. As I passed through the Music Hall, I saw a class on how to fold table napkins, which you often see at restaurants.
I didn’t have time to participate, but it seemed like an interesting event. When I went to the rooftop, Rock Climbing was open, so I joined in again. Last time, my wife took the middle course, so this time she took the far left course.
Perhaps he had gotten the hang of it, and this time he easily climbed the wall, rang the bell at the top, and cleared the stage in one go. I tried the course on the far right. The upper part of this course slopes toward you, so the higher you go, the harder it becomes.
I had a little trouble at the top, but I managed to clear it too. It’s a simple but fun attraction to climb up the wall. 10:30am. I participated in an Arts & Crafts Workshop event. This is an event where you can make handmade greeting cards.
The host will give you scissors, a piece of cardboard, and a piece of paper with a pattern on it. It’s a highly artistic event that requires a lot of taste, as you use it to create cards the way you like. This is the card I made.
I was planning to make a stylish card in which an origami crane would open its wings when opened. It is a creepy card that has forgotten how to fold a crane, and when opened, a mysterious creature appears. This is a card my wife made.
It is made up of many layers, and when you open it, you will see papers of various colors. The cards are finished with a feminine and fashionable feel, with patterns added here and there.
It was an event where I could clearly understand the sloppy nature of myself and the methodical nature of my wife from the completed works. After eating the lunch buffet, I felt sleepy and slept soundly until the evening.
When I was walking on the rooftop in the evening, there was a skydiving iFly lesson going on. The instructors teach carefully and lead by example. And on this side, a surfing lesson was in progress. This person was already so good that he didn’t need lessons.
There is a fee for both, but you can improve your level significantly by taking private lessons. Here, a man was enjoying Shuffle Board. I didn’t really understand the rules of this sport, but that’s how I enjoy it. I think I’ll play with my wife again later.
It’s already sunset and it’s quite cool, but there are still people in the pool. The gondola is still moving today and we are enjoying a walk in the air. I rode the evening gondola during the cruise on a previous cruise trip. You can see the ship from above, like a drone video.
It is recommended because you can see the sunset. It was dinner time, so we headed to the restaurant as usual. Today’s delicious soup and fried shrimp appetizer. Main course: New York steak. We had cake and coffee. When I walked on the rooftop after dinner, the ship was lit up and looked very beautiful.
When I climbed the stairs to the top, the glass floor that I crossed on the first day was also beautifully lit up. This is a place where you can skydive and surf, and although there is no one at night, there is always loud music playing.
The rock climbing walls and walkways are also very brightly lit. Even if you take a walk on the roof of the ship at night, it’s not scary at all because it’s bright and lively. There was still time until the evening show, so my husband and I enjoyed playing table tennis again.
Looking back, I played table tennis almost every day during the cruise. Table tennis is great for killing time or when you want to get some exercise. 21:45. I came to see The FabFour Beatles Tribute show at the Royal Theater tonight. We are a four-piece band from Australia. He sings while imitating Beatles songs.
I don’t know much about the Beatles, so I didn’t know. According to my wife, the bass player’s movements and singing style were very similar to Paul. There were many people in the audience from Europe and America. At the end, everyone was in a good mood, with many people standing and applauding.
The entire venue was extremely lively. Today was a full day cruise from morning till night. The day went by so quickly as we participated in so many fun events. When you participate in an event, you won’t notice the ship rocking at all.
To prevent seasickness, it may be a good idea to move your body as much as possible and participate in events. We are scheduled to arrive at our next port of call, Thailand, tomorrow morning. Good night today. The next port of call was Thailand, where there was a lot of sightseeing for two days.
We plan to introduce the event and the subsequent cruise in the next video. Please look forward to the next time. If you liked this video or found it helpful, please hit the like button. Thank you again for watching until the end.
