Find Your Japan ANA SFC Monk’s Rest Do you know Bungo Takada, Oita Prefecture, the town of Showa Era? Back to The Real Showa! Sightseeing in Bungo Takada City, a rare Showa-era town in Oita, which I visited during my SFC training! In the center of Bungo Takada City, there is a Showa-era shopping street.
Bungo Takada City, Oita This time, we are in Bungotakada City, Oita Prefecture. Do you know this town of the Showa era? Sangu Taxi is on the left and Takada Office of Daikou North Bus Terminal is on the right. Bungo Takada Showa no Machi, Ekidori Shopping Street Gate is so shibboleth!
Here it comes. It’s a bonnet bus you can ride for free. Is there a conductor, Sachiko Nishi? Once again, we will be guided by Kyushu’s Youtuber Mr. O as we stroll through the town of Showa. Showa no Machi Yume Sanchome Kan Showa Roman Storehouse Showa Roman Museum Showa no Machi Yume Sanchome Kan
There are new electric cars to the nostalgic popular cars of the Showa era. Oh, look, I see the Moonlight Mask! Wow, that is a big car that looks like a Showa-era yakuza shop. To the right is the Dream Museum, a candy store.
The Showa Roman Storehouse alone is a large site with many exhibits. There are toys and candy that I have never seen before. This tricycle is a design that would still sell well today. It looks like something out of Lupin. Wow, there is a TeamLab Gallery in Showa Town!
What do you call this Hayao Miyazaki style tricycle? This is the site of the former Takada Agricultural Warehouse, built around 1935 by the Nomura Zaibatsu of Bungo Takada. This is Shunsai Minamikura, a restaurant serving dishes made with seasonal ingredients from the Kunisaki Peninsula.
The Showa Romance is an Isuzu BX141 bus that was revived in 1957. Wow, what’s this? Support us by subscribing to our channel! We came to a classroom inside the Showa no Yume-cho 3-chome Pavilion. Wow – it’s an even older classroom than the early Kinpachi-sensei!
Is it an old microcomputer? It was cassette tapes before floppies! I’m going to be asked to make a presentation when I teach. The school lunch utensils are old too. Ah! It’s Tatsunori Hara’s baseball game! LOL! This is ALWAYS the world of Sunset on Third Street.
Wow, I miss this vending machine. It was in front of a liquor store. Walk northward along Eki-dori to the largest shopping street on the Kunisaki Peninsula. Street with a station crossing Bungo Takada Bus Terminal, northbound on Eki Dori from Ekimae Shotenwa. It is a rather austere, old-fashioned Otoraya Restaurant.
It’s like a quiet shopping street in the countryside, but it’s quite large. Japanese and Western confectionery Mont Blanc has Showa Tanuki Cake Ponpoko. At Café Boulevard on the right, you can eat old school lunch style. The Ozuru Radio & Electric Company is also nostalgic for the old days of stereo assembly.
Turn right on Station Street and walk down Shinmachi Street from the Showa no Machi gate. Showa Town Gate Shinmachi Street Turn right at Nakano Fresh Fish Store and you will find Morikawa Toyokudo and Saian, a restaurant specializing in shish-kebabs. A gas station in the town of Showa. Eh~ gasoline 46 yen! Cheap!
Specialty peanut cake, soba senbe. They look delicious. The post boxes are also nostalgic. There is a Koukouya for side dish korekore and pickles. Cafe Kashu Kashu is located at Uegaki Pharmacy. Here, we had old-fashioned croquettes at Meat Kanaoka-san.
I’m a little bit afraid of insects in a museum of insects, but I’m sure children will be very interested. Mr.O tastes the croquettes he just purchased. Terrace, a town of the Showa era, had new Japanese cuisine and izakaya (Japanese-style pubs). Encounter Village (Showa-no-machi shopping street) also offers beautiful Japanese food.
There is a stone statue of a frog and the Hotel Seisho Annex, which used to be the old Kyodo Nomura Bank. To the right is a store specializing in plush bouquets. Heh, that’s unusual.
There is a general merchandise store, Fubiya, and a restaurant that serves Bungo Takada white onion roast that you will want to try. Mr.O will try his hand at smartball at Furumiya’s! From here, often at double speed! Mr.O, who is getting a feel for it next, is quite professional.
Amazing! I think this is a reach. And a likely place to go in! It’s good, isn’t it? Oooh, it’s soooooo good! Will a miracle happen with the last one? It went~! Bounce! It’s a shame, because it’s very nice! What does it say here? It reads “Brazilian Coffee House”.
There were also two unusual stores, Chishima Tea Shop and Dragon’s Takarabako. Walk from Shinmachi-dori to Chuo-dori and go to Katsura River’s Katsurabashi! Central street This is Chiling’s, a Western-style restaurant. It’s an old-fashioned Western-style menu. Showa Town Exhibition Hall I was given the OK to take pictures! Wow – lots of old nostalgic Showa-era stuff.
Oops, is this a warehouse? Wow – that looks like a very large safe with a lot of money in it. Showa-era alley maze, also recommended. At first glance, it looks like a shuttered shopping street, but there are many tourists. I hear Vietnamese. Even in the countryside, there are many foreigners!
Hourai Kaikan? It looked like a clothing store of both Japanese and Western style. Yay – I made it to Katsuragawa. It is not in Kyoto, but in Oita Prefecture. Wow – it’s a nice, wide, quiet river. Mr.O, go buy some ampan! LOL! Handmade bread at Alfonso’s! I want to eat it in a wigwam!
Well, let’s go back. Village of Encounter It has a very Japanese feel and the creek in the middle is wonderful. You have beautiful Nishikigoi in a beautiful stream. Beyond here you will find the large Showa Town parking lot. You can see the bonnet bus up close. Glad to see it! See you soon! Uncha!
