Crossing into Zimbabwe The Most Expensive Country S7 EP.51 | Pakistan to South Africa

I don’t know what he wants to check. Assalam Alekum Everyone and welcome back to the channel from Tete, Mozambique. We reached here yesterday from Malawi. Unfortunately, we are leaving today. Mozambique is a huge country on the map. It is said to be the 35th largest country in the world.

It starts from the coast and ends in South Africa. And from there, it goes to Malawi. This is the part between Malawi and Zimbabwe, where I am right now… Tete city. I am using it as a transit to go to Harare. My plan for today is to leave from here.

It will be a 380 km journey. We will reach Zimbabwe by evening, God willing. I have no idea about the border crossing. But I don’t think it will be a big issue. The borders are open. We will reach there before it closes. And then we will go straight to Harare.

This is the local breakfast of Mozambique. I don’t think it’s a local breakfast. But at least this is what we are getting in the hotel. We are getting fries for breakfast. We have eggs, salad and coffee with it. They have brought something else here as well. Let me show you.

I think this is the local bread. It’s fluffy from the inside. It’s very soft. It’s well done. Because bread is hard in some places. It’s difficult to eat. This is a piece of cake. So this will be our breakfast here. And maybe this will be our last meal here.

Because we might have to cross the border to reach Zimbabwe. Let’s say Bismillah. Thank you very much. See you again, God willing. Bismillah… In the name of Allah… Prayer for the journey May Allah bless us all with a good day. And a very good one. It’s really scorching here.

It was not this hot in the entire tour. It’s 9 in the morning. And the temperature here is around 35 degrees. I was told that it will be hot here in Malawi. I thought it would be just 2 to 4 degrees. But it’s really hot here. And it’s not the summer season yet.

I am thinking of refueling the motorcycle before we go ahead. So that we can reach Zimbabwe at our next fuel stop. The city is empty. You won’t see much life here. Only a few streets with shops and businesses. Let’s fill up the motorcycle here. TVS King is also here.

TVS and Bajaj are almost all over East Africa. These are the two main companies here. 5.3 liters of fuel cost almost 500 mithi cash. Let’s convert it to dollars. It’s almost 1.45 USD per liter. Fuel is very expensive in all these countries. Mozambique got its independence from Portuguese relatively late.

Compared to some other countries which got it in 1962. Mozambique got its independence in 1975. Their infrastructure has improved in the last 10 to 15 years. It’s a relatively new country. They have only been here for 50 years. It’s a big country in terms of the area.

But their population is only 30 to 32 million. On the other hand, despite being a small country, Malawi had a high population. Because the population there is 20 million. That’s a small area. Here we can fit 10 Malawians. That’s how big Mozambique is. The population is not that big.

So when you leave the cities or small villages, you will see fewer people on the roads. If you go to the coast from here, it will be about 1200 km. I was told that the roads on that side are not that good. So these areas are slowly developing.

But there are a lot of business opportunities in these countries. That’s why I say that if you have any relatives in Pakistan, you should get information from them and invest here. You will get more returns here compared to Europe, USA or Canada. Thought to stop at a side and show you.

I have seen a lot of coal sacks on the roads. They told me that a lot of coal is extracted from the mountains here. That’s why people have set up sacks on the roads to sell. How are you? The problem here is that people only know Portuguese. And I don’t know that.

That’s why we don’t have much conversation. This is the river Mazoi. It’s quite a big river. You can see people washing their clothes in this river. There is a lot of water here. But there are some rivers that don’t have that much water. And still people are washing their utensils and clothes there.

We have finally reached the last city of Mozambique. The border will start from here. The name of this border was written on the Mozambique side. It was New Panda. Let’s see how the border crossing is here. It looks like a small town. There is a small market here.

It sells clothes, shoes and some fruits and vegetables. Let’s see what they have to say. There it is. Hi. How are you? Where is the immigration? Here? Thank you. Let me park somewhere. He is asking me to show my carnet. Are you okay? Yes. Yes. How are you? I’m fine. What’s your name?

You work at the border? I work here as an agent. You need stamp here. This one is for control. This one is here. So now, check. It’s you. And this one? This one is the border. So next time you stop, stamp this one. So this one is here in the border.

Thank you very much. So it shouldn’t take any longer here. We just need to get the exit stamp. We have done our work here. We just needed to get the exit stamp. It’s done. And we haven’t given them any money.

Because they took about 10 – 15 USD as road tax and for the motorcycle, back there. They took a total of 25 dollars. Just had to show them the receipts. So we are entering now. No, we are exiting from here. Or we have entered on the Zimbabwe side.

So we have to see where their immigration is. He is asking me to park here. I am thinking about parking here, in the shades. Under the police watch. This is the visa. Thank you. The officers here are very friendly. But they are also very lazy. They take too much time for no reason.

Maybe because this is the first border where I felt the heat. The previous border was also hot but this one is hotter. Hot weather also makes you lazy. I don’t know what he wants to check. This one? Yes. Wait a second. This one? Okay. GGP446. Thank you. Here, you can get a fever.

Seriously, it’s so hot. And the weather was so pleasant back there. Maybe that’s why the body didn’t get used to the heat. I thought I won’t need a visa here. It is just an entry stamp. Zimbabwe visa is free for Germany. What is this? Now what are they doing here?

I don’t know what to check here. He told me to go this way. Hello. I am good. Thank you. Okay. Wait a second. Yes. But we just need to see your face. You could be wanted face in the video. Well he really annoyed me. Got me really angry.

He told me to take off my helmet. He said, You might be… You might be Osama Bin Laden. It could be anyone in the helmet. I said, it’s not a good joke. He apologized and kept quiet. As I said, I thought that it’s visa free entry here for German passport.

It is written on Wikipedia and other websites where I get information about every country. But here they told me to get a visa. I have been to Zimbabwe in 2017. At the end of 2016. I got a visa then. But it was for 3 countries. Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

That visa was not available here. So, from here I got a double entry visa for Zimbabwe. 45 USD. So… I got in. But the bike was waiting for me. I got in on Carnet. No issues. Road tax was only $1. I gave them $5. They didn’t have change.

But they accepted card payment and that saved us 4 USD. Otherwise, I had to pay $5. But the border crossing was not difficult at all. It was simple. We were chatting for 1.5 hours. They wasted time in that. Otherwise, we would have got our work done soon. It’s almost 1.45 pm here.

Just saw a board here. Pumpkin Hotel. This lodge looks nice. I don’t know if it’s a lodge or someone’s house. Let’s park the motorcycle here. Hello. How are you? After waiting for 40-45 minutes, we finally got our lunch. We have fish here. We got two types of fish.

I don’t know the name of this fish. It’s grilled. There are some fries with it. You can see some salad. But no spices have been used on it. Hopefully, it’s worth eating. Let’s see how it is. It would have been better if some spices were used on it.

At least, we will be full now. If I am not wrong, this and water will cost $15. Zimbabwe is quite expensive if you go to such tourist places. Anyway, I had an idea about this because I had already been to Zimbabwe in 2017. Here, they use US dollars in currency.

All the prices are quoted in that. That’s why it’s a bit expensive. Anyway, let’s enjoy our lunch. Then we have a 200 km ride ahead. Here is Mutoko. We should get a sim card from here. It should be here. Excuse me. Hello. Wait a second. Listen. I didn’t want to kidnap you.

I was just going to ask something. Let’s ask them. Excuse me. Where is Econet? I want to buy a sim card. Someone told me there is an Echonet shop here. Where is it? Echonet. Sim card. Where am I stuck? Do you speak English? No. It’s fine. Thank you.

I think we are a little low in luck today. We are in the market area. I am wasting my time. If I don’t find it now, we’ll get on with our ride. I would have taken it from Harare. Hello. How are you? Can I get a SIM card here please?

We have taken the SIM card from here. And I am so shocked to see the data rates here. I have taken a SIM from a company called Econet. The sim costs 1 USD. And after loading it with a credit of 20 USD, I was only able to get 14 GB.

So you can see how expensive the internet is here. In Mozambique, I was getting it for $4 to $5. Anyway, as you travel in these countries, you get an idea of the variations in things. Till now, the most expensive internet in East Africa is here.

And now we have to ride 136 km to reach Harare. But the weather here is very pleasant. It’s cool breeze. There has been a positive change in the weather in the last half an hour. Before, I was sweating profusely. Hey. How are you? How’s everything going? Good? Okay. Not bad.

Can you also cut it? You don’t have a knife? Let me check if I have one. The smaller one is for 1 USD? Okay. So I have this knife. The name of this brother is Beloved. I have never heard that name. But it’s a very nice name. He has cut small pieces.

This one looks fine. We cut one before. It was not good. This one is very nice. This is my son. Oh, he is your son. So I want to ask you. His name is Beloved. Beloved Membe. So how did you decide to name him Beloved? Or why? Because I loved my son.

So I said Beloved and my Beloved’s wife. Okay, so that’s because of your Beloved son and Beloved wife. And what’s your name, sir? Edmembe. Edmembe. Okay, thank you very much. Beloved is taking picture of prominent. Are you coming from Harare? Mutoko. We have entered Harare.

We have to walk 2 to 3 more kilometers. We will be there in 4 to 5 minutes. I have only one regret. We should have reached here at least an hour earlier. The area I have passed through was so beautiful. Especially a little before Harare. And the houses here and there.

It doesn’t look like you are in Africa. You must have seen such big British mansion-type houses in dramas or movies. They show such houses in movies. But it was amazing. And my navigation is crazy here. It doesn’t know where to go. It will find a way. No worries.

It has made us go one more kilometer. Let me tell you that I am not staying in a hotel here. I am staying with Pakistan’s Ambassador, Mr. Murad Basir. I got a few messages from him a year or two ago. He said that he watches my videos with great interest.

He praised me a lot. When I was about to start my Africa tour, I got a message that whenever I come to Harare, I had a chat with him a couple of days ago. He asked me to come and stay with him. We are on our way to his house.

In this area, I feel that most of the people who work for the Embassy, are accommodated here. My navigation is taking me here and there. We are not finishing our one kilometer. Assalam Alekum Sir. How are you? Welcome. Thank you. I am so happy that you are here. Thank you so much.

This is Mr. Murad’s motorcycle. He has also bought a 310. I think he has bought it after watching my videos. How are you, Sir? Lovely to have you here. I am sorry that I am late. I know that you want to make some content. We make some good content here.

Today’s long day has ended after a dinner with Mr. Murad’s family. It was a great experience. We had food from hotels, resorts, restaurants, etc. Today we finally had homemade food. I personally find it a bit awkward to go to someone’s house and record everything at the same time.

That’s why I couldn’t make a video. I hope you liked my vlog. If you liked it, please like, subscribe and share. We will explore Zimbabwe in the coming days. That’s all for today. Remember me in your prayers. Allah Hafiz.

  1. Since last 3 years, its now customary for me to enjoy Abrar's travel tales during Ramazan🙂. As ever, good and precise content. The joke of immigration guys was totally inappropriate it think they still need to learn how to greet visitors.
Looking forward to the next episode.
