Hello. This is the “Chia’s Outing” channel where she travels hard without a car. This time, we will visit Otori Taisha Shrine in Izumi Ichinomiya. I visited for the “Spring Special Exhibition of Sakai Cultural Properties”.

We took a mini-tour of the shrine precincts by Mr. Gonneki and enjoyed the mysterious Otori Taisha Shrine, which is home to the legend of Japan Takeru. The video is from March 27, 2022, which is quite a while ago, but free tour buses are sometimes operated in Sakai during tourist events. It’s convenient. This time, I took a bus from in front of Sakai Station on the Nankai Main Line and headed for Daisen Park.

We had lunch at Kofune Cafe IROHA and then went to the Sakai City Museum in Daisen Park. Across from here is the Mausoleum of Emperor Nintoku (Daisen Tumulus), and there are many things to see, but since I have been there many times, I would like to make a video of them all.

This is Joo Takeno from Joo Forest in the Tenka Chaya video from a while ago. There is also a statue of Sen no Rikyu, a disciple, across the street. We will also take a bus to Otori Taisha Shrine. It ran quite frequently and was convenient.

At this special opening, we were able to take a mini tour of the precincts by Gonne Yoshi. There is no participation fee, and there are three guided tour times: 10:50, 13:30, and 15:10. I participated in a mini tour starting at 1:30 p.m. (The following explanation is taken from the website. There was also an explanation by Goneyoshi, but it was a while ago so I can’t remember it properly.

) It is a famous shrine that is said to have particularly remarkable miraculous powers, and is the Ichinomiya of Izumi Province. It has

Been highly respected by successive imperial families, and there are 85 shrines that have been designated by the Shinto priests to pray for disaster prevention rain in times of national disaster. As it is one of these, it has been entrusted to temporary offerings without interruption. Also

, in July of the 3rd year of Emperor Seiwa’s Jokan era, the shrine was conferred Jusanmi (Jusanmi), and was later promoted to Shoichii (Senior First Rank). Before the mini-tour of the

Shrine grounds, we headed to Sokeikai Hall, where sumo wrestler Arashio stable is boarding at Otori Taisha Shrine. Return to the torii gate, exit and go to the left.

This day was March 22, 2022, and we were told that Takakage Waka, who won the spring tournament, would be appearing, so everyone on the tour waited outside. The explanation began at Emaden.

The names Otoriyama and Otori-gu Shrine used to be the Otoriyama Kangakuin Kami Otori-ji Temple of Kaizan Gyoki, but it was abolished in the Meiji period due to the anti-Buddhism movement.

A monument to Taira no Kiyomori’s poems. It was written by Tomioka Tessai, who was the chief priest of our company during the Meiji period.

Sessha Otori Minamihi Shrine. The enshrined deity is Amaterasu Omikami, and the main shrine is Sugawara no Michizane. It was originally enshrined in Kitaoji Village, but was moved to its current location in 1899. End shrine: Four shrines combined shrine. “A large camphor tree whose roots (value) are rising.” Behind is the “Chigusa no Mori”.

On his way back from the battle in Togoku, Japan Takeru was haunted by a god on Mt. Ibuki, and passed away in Nobono, Ise Province. A tomb was built there, and as everyone mourned, the spirit of Japan Takeru turned into a swan and flew away from the tomb.

After landing at Kotobanahara in Yamato and Furuichi in Kawachi Province, it landed at our company, according to the main shrine of Otori Taisha Shrine. The origin of Otori Taisha is that a shrine was built and enshrined there.

The sacred area is called Chigusa Mori, and it is said that when a swan swooped down, the trees grew thick overnight. The main hall is called the “Otori-zukuri” style, with gabled and tsumaya-zukuri structures, and is said to have the second oldest style after Izumo Taisha-zukuri. Then, enter the torii gate in the back.

According to him, there is an impressive shrine. It is said that this is the stone that gave birth to Otori Taisha Shrine. It is called “Myojin Kage Mukai Stone”. I don’t have any psychic powers, but on blogs and other sites, I’ve heard from people who feel a lot of things.

Otori Taisha Shrine is located on the “Path of the Sun” at 34.32 degrees north latitude, and is a mysterious place with a legend of Japan Takeru, so there may really be something here. Is the story we’re talking about about Takeru Nippon who died under the curse of the god of Mt. Ibuki?

Go back and go to the temple. In front of the stairs in front of the shrine, there are a pair of Ogatamano trees.

Also known as the sacred tree, this tree is closely associated with shrines, and is used in place of sakaki in places where sakaki is not available, and is also used for planting in sacred precincts. The torii gate in the foreground uses an unusual octagonal pillar.

I made this with an image from two years ago, so I’m sorry that the content of the story is not clear. Mr. Goneyoshi had fun talking with me about finances and other silly things. Transparent amulets that allow you to see ahead are currently very popular.

After this, I went to Sakai Toshiaki no Mori, which I would like to introduce in another video someday. We are from Sakai and have already made several videos about Sakai, so we would be happy if you could check them out. Sakai has a lot to see.

As for Akiko Yosano from Rikyo no Akira, there was also a monument to Akiko Yosano’s poems at Otori Taisha Shrine, but I missed seeing it this time. It’s a shame because I don’t think I’ll go to Otori Taisha that often.

Otori Taisha Shrine is located in Izumi Province, but there are also videos of Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine in Settsu Ichinomiya in the former Mikuni Province of Osaka, and Hiraoka Shrine in Kawachi Ichinomiya. There was also a free bus in 2024, but it seems that the last one was March 17th.

Sorry for the late timing of the video. After seeing Sakai Toshiaki no Mori, I went to Xavier Park. Francisco Xavier, a Jesuit missionary who came to Sakai in 1550.

It was built on the site of the mansion of Ryokei Hibiya, a wealthy merchant who provided generous hospitality, and was named Xavier Park to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the sea to Japan.

Last but not least, if you go by train, Otori Taisha is about a 5 minute walk from Otori Station on the JR Hanwa Line. Thank you for your viewing. Please rate highly and subscribe to the channel.
