沖縄といえば!!那覇市の超人気観光スポットを巡る初めてのひとり旅行
Hello everyone. I’m Matsun, a petite otaku bachelor. This time, I would like to visit super popular tourist spots around Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture. Actually, this is my first time coming to Okinawa, but I would like to tell you about the charms of Naha city from a beginner’s perspective, so
Let’s enjoy the scenery of Okinawa together!! The first place I visited was Senagajima Umikaji Terrace. Um, would you like just one? Umikaji Terrace is so beautiful that it has been nicknamed “Japan’s Amalfi”, where you can experience the feeling of being at a Mediterranean resort.
Senaga Island can be reached in about 15 minutes by car from Naha Airport. However, the area around the airport is a traffic jam point, so we recommend that you allow plenty of time when stopping by on your way home. However, the scenery is really beautiful.
It feels like there is a pure white town right next to the emerald green sea of Okinawa. This definitely gives you the feel of a Mediterranean resort. I’ve never been to the Mediterranean Sea. Umikaji Terrace is a facility that opened in 2015 and is lined with gourmet food and sweets unique to Okinawa.Currently
, there are 47 shops. What’s even better is that once you order your menu, you can eat it on the stylish terrace with a panoramic view of the ocean. I think the mood will be better if I come with her. Gourmet food is not the only highlight.
The highlight of Umikaji Terrace is that there are many photogenic places that look great! ! The Mediterranean scenery alone would be impressive, but the walls are decorated with cute illustrations, and there are also many Instagram-worthy objects. This is completely aimed at tourists.
Aside from that, Senaga Island is said to be the island of love, and there was a place called Love Terrace within the facility. When you step inside, you’ll find objects that look even better. What is this object? ! If you change the shooting angle, the shadow will overlap and form a heart shape.
Whoever thought of it was a genius! ! It’s a place that doesn’t suit me as a single person traveling alone, but I was able to show off my determination as a YouTuber. Umikaji Terrace is divided into four levels, and the view from the top is truly spectacular.
Since Naha Airport is nearby , you can take pictures of planes flying along with the beautiful sea . Come to think of it, I think there were a lot of people waiting with great cameras. Meanwhile, a single man takes pictures with his iPhone.
After walking around Umigami Terrace, I started to feel a bit hungry, so let’s go eat some Okinawa gourmet food. So, the store I came to was Capricious Shokudo. I didn’t have any plans to eat anything at Umikaji Terrace, but
All the restaurants looked delicious, so I ordered the chilled Okinawa soba from Capricious Shokudo. Capricious Shokudo is a restaurant specializing in gyoza and cold Okinawa soba. The standard menu item, chilled Okinawa soba, costs 770 yen. However, it is difficult to say the name of the shop.
After all, when you come to Okinawa, the first thing you want to do is try the local Okinawan food. So what does authentic Okinawa soba taste like? Even though it’s February, it’s extremely hot today, so I can’t stand the feeling of being cold. It’s chewy and has a light taste.
I think it’s probably seafood soup, but it’s refreshing and easy to eat, so it’s something I’m looking forward to in Okinawa’s warm climate. Now, as I was thinking about going to the next place, the shop that tempted me was MARCY’S OKINAWA.
I came here because I saw an advertisement for Shima Banana, which has a lifespan of 15 seconds, but unfortunately all the Shima Bananas were sold out. There was a delicious-looking soft serve ice cream called salted milk, so I bought it again.
Delicious. The sweetness matches the saltiness of the salt, making it extremely delicious. Isn’t it great to be able to enjoy soft serve ice cream with a spectacular view of the Okinawa ocean? Umikaji Terrace has a beautiful ocean view, many photo spots, and it’s close to the airport, so it’s convenient to access, so
I think it’s a good place to come either first or last when you come to Okinawa. The next place we came to was Shuri Castle. Speaking of Shuri Castle, the memory of the building being destroyed by a fire in 2019 is still fresh in our minds.
To be honest, I wanted to see the complete Shuri Castle, but I would also like to introduce the current situation of Shuri Castle as well. Shuri Castle is estimated to have been built around the 14th century, and
Played an important role as the political, diplomatic, and cultural center of the Ryukyu Kingdom, which existed for about 450 years. The building was destroyed during the Pacific War in 1945, but was later restored and registered as a World Heritage Site in 2000.
It is said to be Japan’s only red castle, and the beautiful vermilion building is a symbol of Okinawa. That’s why the fires that occurred in 2019 are so sad. So let’s go inside. The first building you see is Shureimon. Also known as “Iino Ayajo”.
Apparently, all the buildings at Shuri Castle have different names. Apparently each name has a meaning, so if you pay attention to that, you’ll have even more fun while sightseeing. By the way, this building is one of the historical buildings that is also used as the image on the 2000 bill.
As you pass through the gate, you will see Sonohyan Utaki. It is said that the Ryukyu King used to pray here for safety when he went out. So it seems that it is not a gate. What a waste for such a magnificent gate! ! Next is Kankaimon. Also known as “Amahe Gomon”.
It’s the so-called first main gate, and it feels like an Okinawa castle, and it’s really impressive. By the way, the castles in Okinawa are called gusuku, but it would be too long to talk about it, so I will omit it here. Is the guardian dog guarding the gate? Not Shisa?
A statue with a strange and cute face will welcome you. If you turn around to the back, there will be stairs. There must have been people climbing on top of this gate at the time. I’m getting excited! ! The road leading to the main hall has an irresistible atmosphere.
In fact, you can tour this place for free. Okinawa is so fat! ! The gate at the top of the stairs is Zuisenmon. Another name is “Hikawa Gomon”. A vermilion gate surrounded by stones. It’s not often seen on the mainland, so it’s also beautiful. After passing through Zuisenmon, you will see Rokokumon.
Another name is “Kagoise Gomon”. It served as a water clock, and the gatekeeper used to tell the time at the time. Once you pass through the Rokukokumon gate, you will see the Kangfukumon gate. Another name is “Nagaujo”. I mean, it’s so hard to name each one! !
Anyway, it is said to be the fourth gate and means to “spread good fortune.” It’s so unnaturally shiny that I thought it was made of metal, but it turns out it’s made of wood. How many times have you applied the paint? !
Behind it was a shadow stand that was used to measure the time at the Rokumon gate. It looks like a compass, but does this mean that time was measured by looking at the direction of the shadow on the needle? I’m really amazed at the ideas of people from the past.
By the way, you can see the whole area around Shuri Castle from this place, so you can climb the stairs and soothe your tired body. So, let’s go through Kangfukumon. I think you’ll see a gate on your left, but beyond that gate is the paid area.
So, in order to introduce the current situation of Shuri Castle, I will go to buy an admission ticket. By the way, the building in the center of the square is called Shuri Mori Utaki, and
It is said to be one of the most powerful places at Shuri Castle, so be sure to keep a close eye on it. Now, I’m going to enter the paid area, and the gate that serves as the ticket gate is Hoshinmon. Also known as “Kimikosho Gate”.
In the past, only people of high status could enter, so you can feel a sense of superiority by passing through this gate. That’s great! ! As you pass through the Hoshinmon gate, feeling a sense of superiority, you will see the main hall of Shuri Castle.
Wow, that’s really cool! ! That seemingly flat building has a lot of charm. Well, it also becomes a photo spot. What, you’re trying to escape reality? sorry. While the castle is being restored, this picture of Shuri Castle will serve as the main hall.
The truth is that I wanted to see the real thing. There are many buildings in the paid area that are being restored, but why not take a look at some of the buildings that are still under construction? The road is well paved, which makes it very easy to walk.
I’m sure it wasn’t this easy to walk around before the restoration. From a position just to the side of the Seiden , you can observe the construction site through the window. By the way, the restoration of Shuri Castle is said to be scheduled for 2026, so
If you would like to see the construction site, please visit by next year. This is surprisingly fun, as you can see the construction in progress. Honestly, I wanted to see the actual thing. Outside, there are pieces of Shuri Castle on display that were destroyed in a fire.
In particular, even if Shuri Castle’s dragon ridge decoration (Munakazari) is destroyed in a fire, you can tell at a glance that it’s just the whiskers, so it gets you excited. Let’s go deeper. From here, you can see buildings that are still standing from before the fire even in the paid area, so I
Think you can enjoy the historical scenery. This road surrounded by stone walls feels more like a Chinese building than a Japanese castle. It’s a sight you don’t often see on mainland Japan. And the path is too maze! I am confident that if there were no arrows, I would definitely get lost.
Climbing these stairs will take you to Azana, the easternmost part of Shuri Castle. Azana is apparently a viewing platform set up to look out into the distance. It’s a spectacular view point, so
Take a look at this view! ! Hmm, it feels good, but even though it’s Okinawa, you can’t see the ocean, so it’s kind of boring. You can also see the back view of Shuri Castle. The building still looks flat, but it’s very interesting. It’s a special photo spot only available now. (Positive Campaign)
So, this is the restoration status of Shuri Castle. I just hope it will be restored as scheduled. It was a shame that I wasn’t able to see the main hall of Shuri Castle, but even within the free area there were so many historical buildings that there were so many things to see.
Also, it seems that Shuri Castle is aiming to be restored in 2026, but I think it was good to be able to see something rare. However, I would like to come back once Shuri Castle is restored. The next place we came to was the cobblestone streets of Shuri Kinjo Town.
Shuri Kinjocho Cobblestone Road (Shurikinjocho, Ishidatamimichi) is located downhill from Shuri Castle. It was one of the roads built to connect Shuri Castle and other regions during the Ryukyu Kingdom era, and at that time it was said to have continued for about 9 kilometers to Naha Port.
Although the road is now about 300m long, its beauty is still intact. It has even been recognized as one of Japan’s top 100 roads. Wow, it’s very atmospheric. As you walk along this road, you can almost feel the sound of shimauta being played from somewhere. First of all,
Let’s go to see the large akagi, which is one of the highlights of the cobblestone streets of Kinjo-cho, Shuri. “Double push!!” By the way, Akagi does not refer to Nobuyuki Fukumoto’s work, but a plant that mainly lives in tropical countries.
It is said to be a troublesome plant that has been selected as one of Japan’s top 100 invasive alien species, but it is said to be a sacred tree at Utaki in Uchikinjo. What kind of shape does it have? Wow, it’s really big! ! This is the best tree for shade,
And this big hole… A hole in a tree feels romantic, as it seems to be connected to another world. However, to be honest, I don’t think there’s any need to come all the way. That’s my impression. So let’s go back to the cobblestone road. I think this cobblestone path is worth coming.
It’s great to be able to enjoy the atmosphere of the old Ryukyu Kingdom and have a relaxing time. Also, the retro scenery makes it look great in photos. However, the road is uneven and the slope is steep, so I recommend wearing sneakers when you come.
There is a shop halfway up the hill, and the red brick roof gives it a Ryukyu Kingdom feel. Isn’t this scenery amazing? ? It wouldn’t be surprising if it was selected as one of Japan’s top 100 scenic spots to visit at least once.
Well, this slope continues all the way to the bottom, but since the scenery is always the same, I won’t show it in the video. To be honest, it’s not that popular as a tourist spot, but it’s a very interesting road. I feel like I was able to get a glimpse of life in Okinawa in the past. It’s a short walk from Shuri Castle, so be sure to stop by when you come to Shuri Castle.
The next place we came to was Tamaudun Mausoleum. Just the sound is great. “Doom!!” Although it sounds like a silly name, Tamaudun Mausoleum is one of Okinawa’s most representative sightseeing spots and is a historic site where you can learn about the history of the Ryukyu Kingdom.
In order to tour Tamaudun Mausoleum, first we will purchase an admission ticket. Judging from the exterior of the reception desk, it has a historical atmosphere that is irresistible. So, I bought an admission ticket, so let’s go inside right away. Tamaudun Mausoleum is a mausoleum carved into a natural rocky mountain in 1501.
The royal family of the Ryukyu Kingdom was buried in this tomb, and the stones from the time of its founding are apparently still intact. You can get a glimpse of the factional conflicts of the time, making it a must-see place for history buffs.
By the way, have you ever seen a grave in Okinawa? It was my first time seeing it, and to be honest, I was really surprised. Anyway, it’s big! ! There are graves everywhere, so be sure to pay attention to them when you visit Okinawa. Finally, I came right in front of Yuling.
I wonder if that stepped area was prepared for filming? I almost climbed up. This is a place of worship from afar, and is a place to worship the gods, so please be careful not to climb up there. Someone please tell me soon.
When you enter the entrance, you will be impressed by the building, which is shaped like a rock castle. It has the appearance of a tomb befitting a royal family. By the way, this tomb is said to be modeled after Shuri Castle. Seen from the front, it looks exactly like the Seiden, but
I wasn’t able to see the Seiden. I don’t understand at all. The second entrance is only a little over 150cm high, so please be careful above your head when passing through. Otherwise, you’ll end up bumping your head and creating bitter memories like this single man did.
From the left, the Tamaudun Mausoleum consists of an east chamber, a middle chamber, and a west chamber. The east chamber is where the king and queen are placed, and the middle chamber is where the bodies of the king and queen are kept before their bones are washed.
The west room is the room where the prince and princess sleep, and each room has a separate role. Indeed, if you look closely, you can see that the east room is the most magnificent. The Shisa sitting on top also makes a proud pose.
You can see the impressive large tombs of the Ryukyu Kingdom, which is a must-see for history buffs. However, there is only one large grave here and there, so it may be a little unsatisfactory. On the other hand, even if you don’t have time, you can just pop by, so
Why not give it a try? The next place I came to was Shikinaen Garden. Time is running out, so let’s walk quickly. It is said to have been the largest villa in the Ryukyu Kingdom, with a site area of approximately 40,000 square meters.
On the premises, you can enjoy the unique atmosphere that combines Okinawa’s unique architectural style with Chinese architectural style, and it is one of the most popular tourist spots in Naha City. The current one is apparently a reconstruction of one that was destroyed by fire during World War II.
When you enter the park, you will be healed by the rich natural atmosphere. The ivy-like trees also have a very Okinawan feel to them. There was a main gate a short walk away, but it felt more like an entrance than a main gate.
At that time, it was a highly prestigious gate that only the royal family and guests were allowed to enter. I’m thinking of walking towards the back, but the road at Shikinaen Garden is also cobblestoned and bumpy, so it’s very difficult to walk. Therefore, I recommend coming with sneakers.
And then I saw it. The main dish of Shikinaen Garden is the meandering garden. It certainly has a unique Japanese garden atmosphere that is unique to Okinawa and different from the mainland. Well, since it’s a royal villa, there are some expensive-looking carp swimming around.
On the other side of the pond, there is an unassuming “Ikutokusen”, so don’t miss it.Water is said to be gushing out from this spring, but when you get closer, you can see that the water is gushing out. You can see that, right ?
After passing through the typical Okinawan road, there is a “Goten” . I heard that it’s being built. So , I went inside right away, but there wasn’t anything special to see, so I’ll just give you a quick introduction. The walls and doors are made of wood, and they’re beautiful. .It
Feels a little different from temples on the mainland, with a feeling of openness. There is also a tatami room and a dining room, which is similar to the construction of buildings on the mainland. When you go out into the garden, you can see This is a stone bridge.
No, no, it’s too rugged! It’s more rugged than it needs to be, but it’s worth seeing. Right next to it, there’s also a stone bridge with a beautiful shape. This area is one of the few Japanese gardens on the mainland. I think it’s a great photo spot because there’s nothing to see.All
The tourists were taking pictures too.Once you cross the bridge, you’ll see Rokkakudo.According to experts, this building has a strong Chinese architectural style. It seems like it feels similar to a Japanese tea room, but isn’t the structure a little different?Actually, there is a trick to the stone bridge I mentioned earlier, and
I purposely took photos from this angle, but everyone can see it. The correct answer is that when you compare it to the bridge reflected in the water, the arch part becomes circular. This seems to be a uniquely Chinese style structure, and it’s elaborate and wonderful. It’s
Located in Honshu, Japan . The atmosphere was a little different from other gardens, and it was a Japanese garden with a unique atmosphere unique to Okinawa, so I was able to enjoy it with a fresh feeling. As expected, it is a Japanese garden that is registered as a World Heritage Site.
I thought it was worth coming because you can spend a relaxing time in the garden.I’m tired so I’d like to take a gourmet break. The place I came to was Makishi Public Market No. 1. Makishi Public Market No. 1 is… Its predecessor is said to be a “black market” that was held
Near Kainan, Naha City, shortly after the war.It is a popular tourist spot, also known as the “prefecture’s kitchen,” and the building will be renovated in 2023. It just opened, so let’s go inside right away.Okinawa ingredients are sold on the first floor, and they all look delicious. The
Fish for sale were still moving, so you could tell they were fresh. Masu. Wait a minute, what is this object? No matter how I look at it, it just looks like a reptile. This…I didn’t have the courage to buy it.
On the other hand, they also sell colorful fish that look like tropical fish, and as expected from Okinawa! ! There’s a lot of variety. However, I don’t really want to eat colorful fish either. In fact, this market is famous for its “lifting,” where you can
Buy fish on the 1st floor, have it cooked on the 2nd floor, and then eat it as is . I didn’t try it this time because I didn’t have time, but if you want to eat fish unique to Okinawa, please give it a try.
Also, when I think of Okinawa, I think it’s famous for steak, but Ishigaki beef was also sold well. If you ask me if it’s cheap, it’s pretty normal. I guess the material is good. However, souvenirs are really cheap, so it’s definitely better to buy them at the market than at the airport.
On the 2nd floor, in addition to “lifting”, there are also regular cafeterias. Although there are not that many shops, you can enjoy Okinawan gourmet food at reasonable prices at all of them. This time, I visited one of the most famous shops in the market, Katsutei Hoenen. The store is
Full of autographs from celebrities such as Garage Sale’s Gori, so expectations are high. After thinking about what to order, I decided to order the Okinawan folk dish “Soki Boiled Set Meal”. It looks like a home-cooked meal and looks delicious. Let’s have it then! !
Yes, it’s delicious! ! Not only the meat but also the vegetables are tender and soaked in flavor, making it seriously delicious! ! It tastes like a dish that my mother put a lot of effort into making. As a single person, I don’t usually get to enjoy home-cooked meals, so
This brings tears to my eyes. After eating rice, it’s definitely dessert! So, I went to Ayumi, a popular shop that sells Sata Andagi, a specialty of Okinawa, and bought “Lucky Call Sata Andagi.” Well, I would like to receive it immediately. It’s really hard when you hold it in your hand!
It’s so delicious! Inside is like this. It has a light sweetness, and unlike donuts, it’s not greasy, so you can eat as many as you want. I think it’s essential to have a drink after eating because it takes away the water in your mouth
. Why not stop by the Daiichi Makishi Public Market and have lunch? The last place I visited this time was Naminoue Shrine. Okinawa doesn’t have much of an image of shrines, but when you come to Okinawa, you must visit at least one shrine. Naminouegu Shrine was founded in 1368 and
Is a shrine with a long history that has long been considered a sacred place to pray for peace to Niraikanai, the utopian god of the sea god, Niraikanai. Moreover, the enshrined deity is Izanami no Mikoto, so it is a power spot for love!
Well, I have no choice but to make sure to visit the shrine. The atmosphere inside the shrine grounds is a little different from that of shrines on the mainland. Apparently Kumano Shrine is a gongen shrine, and it has a tropical feel to it, giving it a sense of openness.
The atmosphere is a little different, but there is a clean water station at the entrance. I thought about washing my hands first, but then I realized that I couldn’t take pictures if I was holding the camera with one hand, so I gave up. sorrow.
I washed my hands with water flowing from the dragon’s mouth next to me. Even though it’s February, the water is warm and soothing. Next to it was a statue of Emperor Meiji. Statues of Emperor Meiji are placed at all the shrines.
Now that you have cleansed your hands, would you like to worship at the main shrine? The main shrine was destroyed by fire during World War II, but it was apparently restored over several years starting in 1953. A guardian dog is enshrined in front of the main shrine! !
It was not a Shisa that is unique to Okinawa. There is a Shisa on the other side and it seems cute. Shisa is a legendary creature that has the meaning of warding off evil spirits.
There are ema (votive tablets) displayed next to the main shrine, which gives you a sense of security as this area is the same as the mainland. But I forgot to check what kind of picture was drawn on the ema! Shit! There was also a gift office set up within the shrine grounds, but it was already closed. It closes at 4:30 p.m. Isn’t it too early? Naminouegu Shrine is not just a shrine. In fact, some people may prefer this one. There is a beach next to Naminoue Shrine.
The name is Naminoue Beach! ! The name is so true that it feels familiar. So, now that we’ve finished visiting the shrine, let’s head to the beach. By the way, Naminoue Beach is a man-made beach, but it is called Good Luck Beach because of the shrine’s blessings.
Naminoue Shrine is on the left hand side of the beach. When you look at it like this, you can really feel that it’s on top of a cliff. And check the sand on the beach! ! Hmm, it’s smooth.
With this, you can rest assured that you won’t get hurt even if you walk barefoot. The sea water is also emerald green and extremely beautiful. Have you ever seen such a beautiful beach even though there is a road in front of it? It was so beautiful. If you come here in the summer,
You’ll probably have better luck if you take a dip in the sea while visiting the shrine. So, that concludes our introduction to tourist spots around Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture. The area around Naha City was amazing, not only was the ocean beautiful, but
There were so many things to see, such as gourmet food and historical sites. I was able to enjoy a different atmosphere from Honshu, Japan, and it was really fun. At this age, I feel like I finally understand why everyone wants to come. No matter how much time you have, it’s never enough.
I was actually planning to go to two more places today, but I gave up. So next time, I would like to focus on the most beautiful spots in Okinawa. If you find this video even a little interesting,
