【東京御朱印散歩】かわいい御朱印8選
This time we started from Oshiage Station in the rain. Take exit A3 and walk to the left. I would like to take the road in front of the railroad crossing on the right, but look for a crosswalk…
Walk along the road in front of the railroad crossing to the left along the railroad tracks. After a short walk you will reach an intersection. Turn left here. “Tobiki Inari Shrine” is on the right. I’ll visit you another time! There was “Takagi Shrine” on the right after a short walk from Inari.
“Chozuya”. There are cute decorations every time and it makes me feel at peace. The front of the Chozuya is the “Haden”. In front of the shrine, we joined hands to express our gratitude and pray for world peace and for fewer disasters.
There is a guardian dog in front of the shrine. When you look up, you can see Tokyo Skytree! The deity enshrined is “Takamimusubinokami”. It is also said to be a god that symbolizes the union between men and women. Perhaps for that reason, there were many rice balls dedicated to the temple grounds.
Then, if you go from the left side of the shrine building to the back of the precincts and look back at the end, you can see Tokyo Sky Tree from there! Now, this is the Goshuin seal that I received on the day.
The design changes every month, so check it out on the shrine’s official website! Next, leave Takagi Shrine and head to Imado Shrine. Turn left at the traffic light at the Takagi Shrine entrance. I will walk along Hikifunegawa Street. Next, turn right at the Oshiage 2-chome traffic light.
As you walk along Sakurabashi Street, you will see the Sumida River embankment. I’m going up the stairs. Then there was Sakurabashi. Cross the Sumida River and enter Taito Ward. After crossing the bridge, walk to the right. Pass through Taito Riverside Sports Center and turn left at the street.
Cross the push-button traffic light and go straight. Then, the torii gate of the shrine came into view. The deities enshrined are “Emperor Ojin”, “Izanagison”, “Izanamison”, and “Fukurokuju”. When you walk along the approach and turn right, you will see the shrine. It was founded in 1063 and has a history of nearly 1000 years.
The shrine building was damaged in the last war. The current building was rebuilt in 1971. In front of the shrine, we joined hands to express our gratitude and pray for world peace and fewer disasters. Another feature of the temple is that there are beckoning cats all over the grounds.
And here is the Goshuin seal that I received on the day. I look forward to seeing the year mark in the upper right corner change every year. Next, go to “Imado Shrine” and then “Akiba Shrine”. If you look to your left, you will see the big Sky Tree!
Also on the right is “Machiyuzan Honryuin.” I will visit you another time. Next, turn right at the Kotoibashi West traffic light and walk towards Iriya. Walk west along Kotoi Dori with Tokyo Skytree in the back. On the way, keep going until you see Asakusa Hisago Dori on your left,
Then keep going until you see Kappabashi Dougu Street on your left. When you arrive at the Nakariya traffic light, turn left. As you walk along Saemonbashi Street, you will see a torii gate on your left. Akihabara Shrine is the origin of the name of Akihabara.
It was moved to its current location when Akihabara Station was established. The deities that are enshrined are “Kasanrei Okami,” “Mizunami Nouri Okami,” and “Haniyama Hime Okami.” Recently, monthly stamps have become popular. First, we joined hands in front of the shrine to express our gratitude and pray for world peace and for fewer disasters.
The small precinct surrounded by buildings has a unique atmosphere in the city center. And here is the Goshuin seal that I received on the day. The Goshuin of February 2020 had a stamp of Mr. Fuku. After Akiba Shrine, we continued on to Ono Teruzaki Shrine.
When you return to the traffic light at Nakairiya, you will find Chikuryuan Okano. Recommended Japanese sweets shop. Continue along Saemonbashi Street and turn left at the Iriya 1-chome traffic light. As you cross the national highway, you will see a torii gate on your right, but keep going straight.
Turn right at the Negishi 3-chome traffic light, and then you will see the company name sign on your right, so turn right. I like to enter the precincts from here, so this time I will visit from here as well. The deity enshrined at Ono Terusaki Shrine is Ono Takamura.
He is a poet from the early Heian period who also appears in Hyakunin Isshu. The shrine building was built in 1866 and has survived earthquake and war damage. In front of the shrine, we joined hands to express our gratitude and pray for world peace and for fewer disasters.
When you go to Ono Teruzaki Shrine, you can sometimes meet cats. Also, on the left side of the shrine building is “Fujizuka”. Open every year on June 30th and July 1st! And this is the “Tobiume” special goshuin stamp that I received on the day.
“Tobiume” is a sacred plum tree in front of the main shrine of Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine in Fukuoka. The design of the stacked paper stamp changes every month. In February 2020, Setsubun beans were also served. After visiting the shrine, I headed towards JR Uguisudani Station to have lunch.
I was aiming for a hamburger shop along Kotoi Dori, but at this time I got lost… I managed to find my way to Kotoi Dori. And here is the hamburger shop you are looking for. An American hamburger specialty store where meat is the main ingredient.
The patty is made from 100% American branded beef. This time I ordered a bacon cheeseburger. Comes with fries. The meaty patty, tomatoes, and lettuce are fresh and juicy. I’m full. With my stomach full, I resumed my tour of goshuin stamps. Aiming for “Shimoya Shrine”.
First, I headed for Iriya Station on the Hibiya Subway Line. Iriya Station is located below the Iriya intersection on National Route 4. Take the train heading for Nakameguro Station and head to Ueno Station, one stop away. Once you get off at Ueno Station, head for exit 1.
After exiting from Exit 1, walk towards Asakusa. Walk east along Asakusa Street. Then, you will see the red torii gate of Shimotani Shrine on your right. The precincts could be seen beyond the red torii gate.
The hand water at Shimotani Shrine is a flower hand water where the flowers are replaced at the beginning of each month. I was able to see the beautiful flower chozui that was still brightly colored on 2/4 of the day. The shrine building was rebuilt in 1934. It was spared from war damage.
In front of the shrine, we joined hands to express our gratitude and pray for world peace and for fewer disasters. By the way, Jenny the turtle was hibernating. Well, what I received on the day was this Goshuin limited to February 2020. Information about monthly goshuin stamps is posted on the shrine’s official website.
After “Shimoya Shrine”, we will aim for “Karasumori Shrine”. Turn right at this red torii gate. I should have gone in the opposite direction to the video and went to Inaricho Station, but for some reason I ended up heading towards Ueno Station. Inaricho Station is closer than Ueno Station.
When you arrive at the station, board the train bound for Shibuya. We will pass through Kanda and Ginza and move on to Shinbashi. When you get off at Shinbashi Station, head for exit 8. After exiting Exit 8, walk south along Yanagi Street.
Walk past the SL Plaza at the west exit of Shinbashi Station on your left. After passing the New Shinbashi Building, turn right at the traffic light. Then, you will see a torii gate in a narrow alley on your right, so enter it. At the end of that alley was Karasumori Shrine.
When you enter the shrine grounds, there is a wash basin on your right, so don’t forget to stop by. Karasumori Shrine is a shrine that pioneered colorful goshuin stamps. It is a popular shrine with many worshipers due to its good location.
Now, this is the Setsubun worship goshuin that I received on that day. Check the shrine’s official website for the latest goshuin information. After “Karasumori Shrine”, we aim for “Hatomori Hachiman Shrine”. First, return to Shinbashi Station on the Ginza Subway Line.
I returned to Exit 8 from earlier. Board the train bound for Shibuya again. By the way, this time I bought a 24-hour Tokyo Metro ticket. Unlimited rides on all Tokyo Metro lines for 24 hours after purchase. Pass through Toranomon and Akasakamitsuke to Gaienmae.
When you get off at Gaienmae Station, head for exit 3. After exiting Exit 3, head north on Stadium Street. When you reach the National Stadium, turn left. Go through this tunnel and turn right at the Jingumae 2-chome traffic light just after exiting the tunnel.
As you go up the gentle slope, you will see a torii gate on your left. Since it is Hachiman Shrine, the deities enshrined are “Emperor Ojin” and “Empress Jingu.” This shrine has a long history, having been founded in the second year of the Jogan era (860).
There was a chozuya on the right hand side in front of the shrine, and on that day it was a nice place to wash your hands. Now, we joined hands in front of the shrine to express our gratitude and prayed for world peace and for fewer disasters.
There was a “Shogi Hall” in the precincts, and a large King’s Shogi piece was kept there. It is possible to climb Fujizuka, which was built in 1789. Now, this is the goshuin that I received that day. The pigeon stamp is cute, isn’t it?
After “Hatomori Hachiman Shrine”, we will aim for “Koenji Hikawa Shrine”. By the way, there was a shogi hall next to Hatomori Hachiman Shrine. Walk through the residential area and aim for Kitasando Station on the Fukutoshin Subway Line. The Fukutoshin Line is under Meiji-dori, so we will aim for Meiji-dori.
From Kitasando, take the Fukutoshin Line to the neighboring Shinjuku Sanchome. Transfer to the Marunouchi subway line at Shinjuku Sanchome. On the Marunouchi Line, take the train bound for Ogikubo. Passengers bound for Shinjuku and Honancho are not allowed. Get off at Shin-Koenji Station. Head to the exit.
When you exit the exit, Ome Kaido is right in front of you. Turn left at the nearby Itsukaikaido entrance signal. Walk north. Walk north along Konan Street to JR Koenji Station. Turn right in front of you. We will continue down the side street. Then, a torii gate appeared on the left.
Once you pass through the torii gate, you will find a chozubya on your right. Purify. This was also a flower hand wash. A unique and fun shrine! The enshrined deity is “Susanoo no Mikoto.” Also, within the precincts is Japan’s only “weather shrine.” A lot of brightly colored Teru Mikuji are so cute!
Well, this is the Goshuin from February 2020 that I received on that day. The goshuin will be announced on the shrine’s official website on a monthly basis. Today’s stamp tour ends at Koenji Hikawa Shrine. I thought I’d take a break at a nearby cafe, but it was full so I gave up.
I decided to buy some souvenirs for my family at a patisserie in front of the station. A wide variety of cut cakes, baked goods, and roll cakes. This time, we chose from the cut cakes lined up in the showcase.
I ordered three types of cakes, but I was interested in the seasonal strawberry one. My family of three enjoyed it deliciously. Thank you for the meal. On my way home, I took the Sobu Line from JR Koenji Station.
Thank you for watching until the end. Please be sure to subscribe to the channel and give us a high rating!
