Koh Muk è l’attrazione turistica più gettonata di Trang ed è una destinazione unica per chi cerca un ambiente naturale incontaminato. L’isola, posta quasi di fronte a Hat Chang Lang nell’entroterra, offre delle spiagge impeccabili, perfette per il nuoto, ed una barriera corallina che merita di essere esplorata. Per di più, l’isola è compresa tra rupi alte e maestose che si affacciano sul mare ad ovest, offrendo riparo alle rondini e un villaggio di pescatori che si affaccia sulla terraferma ad est. Per raggiungere Koh Muk, i turisti possono prendere un ferry dal porto di Pak Meng Sikao e viaggiare per circa 40 minuti. Sull’isola sono disponibili hotel, bungalow e resort. Nascosta nella foresta tra le pareti rocciose, si trova la spettacolare Tham Morakot (Grotta di Smeraldo). L’entrata della grotta è un piccolo passaggio posto nella parte occidentale dell’isola ed è attraversabile con la barca solo con la bassa marea. La grotta stessa è lunga 80 metri, all’uscita dalla parte opposta si apre una spiaggia bianca e pulita con una piscina naturale all’aperto di color smeraldo, circondata da alte pareti rocciose. La meravigliosa Emerald Cove era l’antico forziere dei pirati che imperversavano in queste acque fino al secolo scorso. Se si vuole assistere alle vere attività giornaliere dei pescatori, è possibile visitare Ao Phangkha e il villaggio di pescatori, posizionato a sud dell’isola.
