茨城県桜川市の、ひな祭りで有名な真壁町を歩きます。真壁の町割りは、戦国時代末期の真壁氏時代に形作られました。枡形と呼ばれる城下町特有の交差点が現存し、現在も約三百数十棟の見世蔵や土蔵、門などの歴史的建造物がその町割りとともに今に残ります。2010年6月29日には、この真壁地区が国の重要伝統的建造物群保存地区に選定されました。近くの真壁城跡も探索しました。当時の土塁も見ることができます。
Walk through the Makabe district of Sakuragawa City, Ibaraki Prefecture. The town layout of Makabe was formed during the Makabe clan era at the end of the Sengoku period. An intersection called Masugata, which is unique to castle towns, still exists today, and about 300 or so historical buildings such as storehouses, storehouses, and gates still remain, along with the town’s layout. In 2010, the Makabe district was selected as a nationally important preservation district for groups of traditional buildings.
