Jomon Cedar Trekking in Yakushima, World Natural Heritage Site
You will be amazed how old the tree is.
Jomon Cedar is about 2500 to over 7000 years old.
This is what they said.
On the way to Jomon Cedar, you will see huge “Wilson Stump”
It is another famous site because you will see Open Heart shaped ceiling when you walk into the stump and look up to the sky. It is a quite spacious there.
Usually it will takes11 to 12 hours trekking for both way, going and coming back, about 22 km trip.
You don’t wanna miss these 2 spots, Jomon Cedar and Wilson Stump when you go trekking in Yakushima.
You may have to prepare for trekking in advance.
It is not easy, but it is worth visiting there.
If you understand some Japanese, I highly recommend to take a Jomon Cedar trekking tour going with a professional guide.
He will tell you useful and interesting information during the trip.
No worries about toilet. You can find it during the trekking.
But it is not many though.
You may want to bring portable toilet with you just in case.

You can rental some equipment, like walking sticks at the store in the hotel.

Even winter, you will sweat, so you might need some clothes when you come back from trekking and get change.
Otherwise you will feel cold with wet clothes until you get your hotel.
Of course, changerooms are available!
I am over half of century, but I gave it a shot.
