Today I am heading to Kasama Castle in Ibaraki Prefecture. Get off at Kasama Station. It takes about 50 minutes on foot from the station to Kasama Castle. On the way, we will stop by the Kasama Historical Exchange Center. When I visited, it was the time of the chrysanthemum festival.

On the second floor of the Historical Exchange Center, there are exhibits related to Kasama Castle. I will also take a moment to appreciate the chrysanthemums. Next, we will go to Shinjoji Temple, where the turret of Kasama Castle has been relocated. This is a turret located in the main enclosure of Kasama Castle.

I’m back on my original path. This is a statue of Kuranosuke Oishi. Does it have something to do with Kasama? It seems that Kuranosuke Oishi’s grandfather’s residence was located here. A large stone appeared in front of me. This is Daikuroishi.

There seems to be a legend that it was used in battles between monk soldiers during the Kamakura period. This is the parking lot for those coming by car with a crowd of 1,000 people.

Kasama Castle was built by Tokitomo Kasama during the Kamakura period, and served as the residence of the Kasama feudal lord for about 750 years. It is said to be a mountain castle that takes advantage of the natural topography and is easy to defend but difficult to attack. This area is Otemonzeki.

The slope has become steeper. This area will be the entrance gate. We finally arrived at the main enclosure. The main enclosure is surrounded by earthworks. Let’s go up to the top of the earthworks. It seems that there was a Yawatadai turret here. This is an old guide map. Head to the castle tower.

This is a stone monument at the site of the Celestial Lord. Suddenly, a magnificent stone wall came into view. There is a no trespassing sign. It seems more difficult than this. Thank you for your viewing.
