植物博士のパパが京都で初めて見る日本庭園に言葉を失う【初来日】
There are no words for how stunning this place is. Golden Temple. Wow. Man. No way! Shaved ice in Japan. 10,000 torii gates. Kyoto, Japan (Day 3) Good morning, people. It’s nine in the morning and it’s day three of exploring Kyoto. Today we’re going to be visiting
Many beautiful places and we’re starting with Kinkaku-ji. Good morning, everybody. It’s a very, very beautiful place. The Golden Temple. Golden Temple. Wow. Look at this! We’re at the Golden Temple. Gold. Golden Temple. Look at this! Wow. Man! It’s just spectacular! – Surrounded by nature. – Is that real gold leaf? How amazing!
What a stunning place. Beautiful. Wow. Is that a bird over there? Yeah, it’s a bird. How beautiful. Ori and I came here 8 years ago by motorbike. That was Ori’s first time in Japan and first time in Kyoto. We came to visit this temple, but there wasn’t this many people.
Visitors have incresed in recent years. For real. The Kinkaku-ji temple is really beautiful. That’s regardless of how many times you visit it. But there were lots of people. We’re now at Ryoanji. This is the spot I really wanted to bring Ori’s dad to!
Ori’s dad has studied and work with plants for may years. He’s totally obsessed with Japanese gardens – he just loves them. We actually have a Japanese garden at home at he’s the one taking care of it. That’s why I wanted to bring him here. How exciting.
This is a place you will love, Grossito. Ryoanji. Japanese garden. Oh yes. I’m eager to know this place. They don’t cut the whole tree to be able to plant one again. They cut it here so it produces more branches which they will be harvesting in the future to use as timber or wood.
For construction purposes or whatever. I read about that. It’s a very old technique used in Japanese forests. Ori’s dad is all about observing things in meticulous detail. When we go places, we’ve gotta plan in advance because Ori’s dad likes to take his time. It’s pretty cool watching him in action like that.
We haven’t even entered yet, and the plants have already grabbed his attention. Okay. No way! What is this place? They want to go through. Oh my goodness! Wow. No way! No, no, no. No, no, no. This is just… No. I’ve got no words to describe this place. Wow. Yes.
There are no words for how stunning this place is. There are no words. What’s the meaning of this place, this dry garden? Such an ancient place that’s been here for ages. This place is… Spectacular! Do you know what those are? What do you think it’s written there? I’ve got no idea.
Those are the names of companies, sponsors. Sponsoring companies. I never would have thought that. Very cool. Sponsors of this place? Yes, of this temple. Shake it. This water will make your skin super soft. We’re hanging out in the Gion district. This place in Kyoto is all about narrow streets
And these charming old wooden houses, just one or two stories tall. It’s such an interesting spot; the contrast with the other side of Kyoto is really something. Absolutely. Beautiful spot. Look. This path leads you right up to the mountain. I’ve got to take a photo of this. Yes. Mani (prayer wheels). Awesome.
Pao is about to buy the biggest shaved ice I’ve seen. Just add everything you want. It looks delicious. This is awesome. Shaved ice in Japan. Just look at this. My gosh. Spectacular. The Japanese version of the Colombian shaved ice. Hold on, hold on. It’s beautiful. Look. Oh my goodness. It’s huge. It’s huge.
How is it? Delicious. He’s shocked. See how it measures up against your hand. Shaved ice Kyoto style. Delicious. It has grapes, strawberries and blueberries. Look. The blueberry. Beautiful, right? Really beautiful. Really pretty. Take a look at the lanterns! Beautiful.
Kaito’s right about the houses here – every one of them does have windows with wooden curtains. Exactly. That’s a distinctive architectural feature of this area. Look. DAY 4 Good morning, people. It’s 9:40 in the morning and it’s the last day in Kyoto.
There’s a lot of people here today. Must be because it’s Friday. Do you see all the people behind us? We’re now going to visit one of the most popular places in Kyoto. The Kiyomizu-dera Temple. We’ll be taking Ori’s dad and Pao there. Pao loves Snoopy and we just found a Snoopy shop here.
Sannen-zaka. Sannen-zaka. It connects to the Kiyomizu Temple. It’s one of the most famous temples here. Beautiful temple. It used to be my favorite one. Really? Yeah. So you’re also rescaling your temples as you go out and visit new ones? Yeah, yeah.
It’s the third time, no, the second time that we come here, right? She’s in the matcha mood. There are so many shops here! And everything is neatly organized. Amazing. Incredible. My gosh. What is this temple called? It’s called Kiyomizu. Kiyomizu. Kiyomizu. Everything around here is basically world heritage sites.
Thanks to its cultural significance for humanity. This is nuts. Thank you. Ah, the scent of wood. I can smell the wood here. It’s a strong scent. Check that out. It’s so beautiful. This is spectacular. Think about the massive trees they must’ve chopped down to create the foundation of this temple.
Trees maybe hundreds of years old. It’s just one piece. And don’t even get me started on the beams. Are those hot springs? What an amazing sound! Look at Kyoto down there. This is the best spot to get a view of the temple. You can see it from here.
I have to take a photo of this. We’ve made it to our last stop in Kyoto. We’re at Fushimi Inari Shrine. Ori was really impressed by this place on her first visit. Look. There are lots of torii gates. Why is this consecutive? It’s the first time I see this.
If you guys know, please let us know. They’re practically one after another. Oh yes. So this is the name of the company which sponsored this torii gate. Okay. So if you want, you can have a torii gate with your name. Okay. Johannes. Wow, man. What an incredible path! Let’s go. It’s all wood.
Yeah. What is this place? What an incredible path. Just look at how far it goes! My gosh. Wow. This is absolutely incredible! Wow. This is magnificent, man. There was not this many people, 8 years ago, was it? Yeah, 8 years ago.
We came here 8 years ago and there was not this many people. 10,000 torii. Incredible! This doesn’t have plates here. Maybe not this side, but the other side. Let’s go check the other side. Right here. Four. Four? Five. It’s by… By groups. This is another set of torii gates. You see?
So that’s the end of that set. Now this is another set here. I don’t know. Yeah, maybe. He started wondering what the number on the Torii gate was all about. Number seven. It goes increasing this way.

京都と同じくらい或いはもっと素敵なお父さんの心を見ました
枯山水庭園は水がなくても砂で水を表現してるんですよ！
こうやって日本文化に興味を持って敬意を持って接してもらえる方には、どんどん来てもらいたいですね！次の来日お待ちしております！

行った事あると思いますが、鞍馬寺から貴船神社へ通じる山道行ってください。シンドイですが、樹齢何百年の樹木が沢山あって凄いですよ。
昔は、春と秋以外の平日に行けば、龍安寺には観光客ほとんどいないんだけどね。
俺が1993年に行った時は、10人もいなかったから、ゆっくり隅々まで時間をかけて見ることができた。
今は冬でもこんなに観光客が多いのかな？
さすが植物博士。木の文化に触れるのはいろいろ楽しそうだ。こういう楽しみ方をできる方こそ何度も来てほしい。
お父さんの純粋さに感動しました。
きっと娘さんもその心を受け継いで居られるんでしょうね。
わたしも日本の自然は大好きですが、改めてその美しさを感じる感受性を
もっと高めなければ、と思わせていただきました。

お父さんのリアクションが素敵なので熊野古道や屋久島、白神山地なんかにも行って見て欲しいです。
大学で園芸の授業があって「日本庭園は自然の中を切り取って庭に小さく再現する。だからどこから見ても違和感がなく美しい。盆栽や生花もどこから見ても美しい」と言われました。
だから海外ではわざわざ庭師を呼んで日本庭園を作りたがる人がいると。「だから君たち！勉強して海外に顧客を持ったら稼げるようー！✨」とノリノリで語っていた教授達を思い出しました（笑）
日本ホルホル系の動画って,カメラから見える姿は癒し系なんだけれども,カメラの外側が資本主義だからあんまり好きじゃないんよな。日本人自体が腐っていく感覚がある
以前の動画でコロンビアの川ではしゃいでたパパさん、今回の動画で日本の文化に感動してくれるパパさん。素直で素晴らしい方ですね。最高です

オリ父の植物観察の参拝いいね。目的直行より道草して自分の興味を満たしていくのが最高直だよ。人生に厚みのある人にしかできない味わい方だよね。鳥居は寄付じゃなかったでしたっけ？わからんけどカイトの日本語解説聴いて安心したよ。
