春の京都オススメ王道コース – 祇園の格安京町家ホテルに泊まる | 清水寺・鴨川カフェ・東寺・競馬の神様・桜・グルメ | Kyoto, Japan travel vlog

Kyoto has a good number of buses. Most of the major tourist destinations can be reached by bus. It’s a little too much though… If you look it up on Google Maps and rely on the route number, you won’t make a mistake. Municipal bus 207 Shijo Horikawa → Shimizu-michi 19 minutes 230 yen.

I came to Gion. First, go to a rental kimono store. I changed into Japanese clothes. Walk slowly through the town of Gion. I came to Yasaka Koshindo. It is a beautiful temple with colorful beads. This temple worships monkeys, and this colorful ball is said to be shaped like a monkey.

You can write your wishes and tie them together. I received a goshuin stamp. A symbol of Gion. “Yasaka Tower”. This is “Ninenzaka”. It is a street where you can enjoy the charming townscape. “Nene’s path.” The cherry blossoms are stunning! I would like to eat dango. Mitarashi dango and warabi mochi.

This is a restaurant with the best position where you can eat while looking at the cherry blossoms. I came to Yasaka Shrine, located in the center of Gion. South tower gate. The vermillion color is very beautiful. The dance hall is also splendid. Main shrine. It’s a national treasure. Visit.

There were stalls in the precincts. I received a goshuin stamp. I came to the north of Gion. Tatsumi Bridge is the most famous photo spot in Gion. This is a place you’ll want to come and take photos of when you’re wearing a kimono. This is Hanamikoji, which runs through the center of Gion.

The historic townscape remains, and sometimes you can even see maiko walking around. One thing to keep in mind when sightseeing is that photography is prohibited on the narrow side streets (private roads). This is to protect the historic town. The main street seems to be OK.

We will have lunch at a famous restaurant in Gion. Small zaru soba 730 yen. Oyakodon 1,060 yen. This restaurant is famous for Oyakodon. A fluffy oyakodon rice bowl made with plenty of eggs. A typical Kyoto flavor with a gentle dashi soup. It’s a popular store with long lines on Saturdays and Sundays.

Attracted by the cherry blossoms, we stopped by this temple. Kenninji is the oldest Zen temple in Kyoto. The wide grounds are perfect for a walk. Admission fee is free. Discover a path with a sense of emotion. A very good photo spot! The hall of worship has a solemn atmosphere.

There are cherry blossom trees everywhere in the precincts. Then, I went to the temple “Ryosokuin” in the precincts of Kenninji Temple. This temple is not a guardian dog but a “komatora”. And the fortune telling is also “tora”. cute! I received a goshuin stamp. I’m heading to my accommodation for the day.

Today we will be staying at an inn that is a renovated traditional townhouse. The appeal of this hotel is that you can rent out the entire building and feel like you’re living in a historic town. The surrounding townscape has an elegant atmosphere, and the narrow alleys that are unique to Kyoto remain.

I’m going into an alley. This is our accommodation for today. It’s nostalgic. You can make a reservation online and receive a pin code via email on the day of your reservation. Then, at check-in time, a staff member will come to take care of the formalities. Stylish and modern Japanese interior. It’s very beautiful.

A very nice courtyard. It comes with a kitchen and household appliances, so you can feel like you’re really living there. It has been renovated using wood as its main theme and is very clean. The inside of the room doesn’t feel old at all. It also has a drying function.

I also like that the bath and toilet are separate. The wood grain makes the bathroom feel calming. and…. You can take a bath while looking at the illuminated courtyard. Hairdryer. There are also plenty of towels. Amenity set and toothbrush. The bedroom has twin beds. There’s something nostalgic about the glass pattern.

Limited to one group per day, whole house rental 1 night without meals 10,500 yen (2 people). If you can enjoy this atmosphere, it’s probably very cheap. An inn in Kyoto where you can rent an entire townhouse. There are many other places besides here. Recommended!

Leave the hotel, return the rental kimono, and head out to Gion for dinner. Nice townscape. The restaurant I made a reservation for is at the back of this alley. This is an eel kaiseki restaurant. First of all, appetizers. Assortment of 5 appetizers.

Urui with sesame sauce, eel liver boiled with Japanese pepper, boiled eel liver, etc. All of them are carefully prepared and delicious! And eel ham. It is soft and has a rich flavor that goes well with alcohol. Boiled bamboo shoots. Soft and delicious! Kyoto is a bamboo shoot production area. Sake progresses. Washing carp.

Grilled eel. The way eel is grilled is different between Kanto and Kansai. In the Kanto region, the meat is steamed, so it’s fluffy, but in the Kansai region, it’s grilled without steaming, so it’s crispy. This shop is especially crispy and fragrant! And the main thing… Eel claypot rice!

It will be provided in three parts. Drink the first cup as is. It’s so delicious! ! The flavor of the eel soaks into the rice and it’s amazing! When you finish eating, they will serve you the next one. Add condiments to the second cup. Green onions and wasabi go very well together.

If the taste changes little by little, you won’t get tired of eating it. And finally. The third bowl is served with dashi soup. Pour the dashi soup over the crispy eel for a completely different flavor. Eel eaten with soup stock while retaining its aroma is irresistibly delicious!

This time, I ordered the “Eel Earthenware Pot Rice Course” for 8,800 yen. The skin is crispy and the flesh is plump. It was an elegant restaurant where you can fully enjoy Kansai-style eel. When I left the store, it was dark outside.

The area around Tatsumi Bridge, which I visited during the day, is also wonderful when the cherry blossoms are illuminated at night. I came back to the inn. Even though the course came with dessert, I ended up eating Japanese sweets at the hotel.

I bought it at a Japanese sweets shop that I stopped by during the day. The Japanese confectionery shop you wander into is a long-established store that has been in business for over 100 years. This is not uncommon in Kyoto. It was delicious. Going to bed.

I’m going to wake up early and take a morning walk around Gion. There are almost no tourists, so you can take pictures without people at famous photo spots. The store isn’t open, but it feels great. I came to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, illuminated by the morning sun. You can enter Kiyomizu-dera from 6am.

It is divine if you come when the sun is rising. Kiyomizu-dera Temple is a tourist spot that is sure to be crowded, but if you visit early in the morning you can enjoy a quiet visit. I take my time to look around the precincts where there are not many people.

Head to the main hall, which is designated as a national treasure. This is the famous “Shimizu Stage”. I will take off my shoes and pray. You can ring the large bell in the main hall. “Shimizu Stage” with no one around. This is also unique to early mornings.

Cherry blossoms are also blooming in the mountains. Good view! You can offer incense sticks to Kannon for 10 yen each. Put out the fire without blowing… After passing the main hall, there is a shrine dedicated to the god of matchmaking. It seems that the worship here is only available after 9 o’clock.

Reception for goshuin stamps begins at 8:00. Let’s come again one last time. This is Amida-do Hall, an important cultural property. It is a spectacular spot where you can see the city of Kyoto through the Kiyomizu stage. Cleaning the stage! I’ll do it with a vacuum cleaner.

This is “Otowa Falls”. This water is beneficial. This is also a popular spot that usually has a long line. According to the temple, all three waterfalls have the same sacred water. It is said that if you make a wish to Fudo-sama and drink the water, your wish will come true. Visit.

Using a long ladle that is always sterilized… I’ll have some water. The “Shimizu Stage” seen from below is also splendid. I had a goshuin written. After leaving Kiyomizu-dera, we walked for about 20 minutes and headed to our next destination. This is Sanjusangendo. You can view it from 8am. Visit.

Inside the long hall, there are a total of 1,000 thousand-armed Kannon statues lined up in rows, making it an impressive sight. And all of them are national treasures. Each of the 1,000 Senju Kannon statues has a name and a different facial expression.

It is said that there is always a statue that looks like you or the person you want to meet, so it’s fun to look for it. I had a goshuin written. We visited two famous places in the morning. It makes you feel very refreshed. I came back to the inn.

Checked out of the inn and said goodbye to the town of Gion. We cross the Kamo River, where the cherry blossoms are blooming, and look for a restaurant where we can have brunch. I found a cafe that seemed to have a really nice atmosphere. good! !

This is a great seat where you can see the Kamo River with cherry blossoms blooming! I start drinking alcohol in the morning. Pasta set & beer 1,750 yen. Quiche set & wine 1,750 yen. I tried to make the most of the time I had because I woke up early. At times like that…

It’s big! When I asked the store clerk, he said it was a gray heron that often comes here. I’m a little wary, but it’s okay because it won’t come any closer. It’s cute once you get used to it. Dessert looks delicious too. He’s been around forever.

After eating brunch at a cafe, I didn’t have much of a plan, so I went for a walk. A stunning cherry blossom blizzard! It’s almost gone. Cherry blossoms are really blooming everywhere in Kyoto. Walk along the Kamogawa River.

The cafe where we had brunch earlier. The seats on the second floor also seem comfortable. I walked to Kyoto Station. On the last day of the no-plan, the train stopped and there were many twists and turns, so we decided to visit this shrine.

Fujimori Shrine is located near JR Fujimori Station on the Nara Line. The pleasant approach to the shrine continues for a long time. The shrine is said to be famous among horse racing fans, as it enshrines horses and the god of war, and is said to bring good luck to horses.

The main shrine is an important cultural property. It is also a shrine with a deep history. Visit. I had a goshuin written.

The last place I visited on my 2-night, 3-day trip to Kyoto was Toji Temple, which was recommended to me by the proprietress of the small restaurant I went to on the first day. This is also a famous spot for cherry blossoms.

You can see many buildings and sculptures that are national treasures, and it has also been designated as a World Heritage Site. The cherry blossoms are a little scattered. This weeping cherry tree is probably even more beautiful when it is in full bloom. Take a leisurely tour of the large grounds.

The combination of the National Treasure “Five-storied Pagoda” and cherry blossoms is a picturesque sight. This is “Kondo”. It is a national treasure building. Inside is a statue of Yakushi Sanzon. Important cultural property. This is a very delicate sculpture. And what is built next to it is the auditorium.

There are also many sculptures of national treasures here. I had a goshuin written. This place is lit up during the cherry blossom season, and is open for special viewing at night. If you come when the weeping cherry blossoms are in full bloom, you’ll be able to take good photos.

There was a shop selling “matsutake kelp” in front of the gate of Toji Temple, and I bought some as souvenirs. I’m going home. On the way back, just like on the way there, I will use the cheap Shinkansen train called “Plat Kodama.”

I leisurely head home while eating the fish bento I bought at Kyoto Station. Flatfish Saikyoyaki bento ¥1,200. Salmon Saikyoyaki bento ¥1,200. And the drink coupon that comes with “Plat Kodama”… Exchanged for sake. What a Daiginjo! Eating Japanese sweets sold at the station… They even opened souvenir sweets.
