白馬編【白馬東急ホテル】ホテル泊まり放題サブスク tsugi-tsugiで30連泊の旅!Vol.11
This time, it’s the 11th installment of the nationwide unlimited overnight subscription Tsugi-Tsugi 30-night trip. A mountain resort hotel in the Northern Alps. This is a video from when I stayed at Hakuba Tokyu Hotel for 3 nights. Hakuba is known around the world as the host city for the Nagano Tokyo Olympics.
What kind of trip will it be? At the end of the video, I also list the expenses I spent during my stay. Please watch till the end. On this channel, we upload useful information about hotels and living abroad. If you haven’t subscribed to the channel yet, please do so.
Check out Nagano Tokyu REI Hotel. I was planning to go from Nagano Station to Hakuba Station on Resort View Furusato. Resort View Furusato will not run on this day. Since it was the day the Resort View Lake Suwa was running, I took a little detour and headed to Hakuba.
Take this resort view train that departs at 8:37am and head to Fujimi Station. These seats are available in the front and highest rows of the train. You can now enjoy the view from the train. The seats are very spacious. It’s much wider than the express train.
There is plenty of legroom even if you put your suitcase down. Small suitcases can be placed on top of the luggage carrier. You can check the scenery in front of you on the monitor. I’m now heading towards Mt. Obasute. The train stopped at Obasute Station.
[Voice explanation] Once upon a time, there was a lord who hated old people, and gave an order that all old people who turned 60 should be thrown into the mountains. This is a place where people actually dumped the elderly on a mountain.
The train will stop for 16 minutes at Obasute Station, which has a very scenic view. In this way, I was able to enjoy the scenery and take a look around the inside of the station building. [Announcement] This is the confluence of the two rivers.
The river flowing from the back on the right is the Azusa River. The river flowing in the foreground is the Narai River. You will soon arrive at Matsumoto Station. When you depart from Matsumoto Station, station staff will wave you off. This type of service is unique to sightseeing trains.
There was a 12 minute wait at Kamisuwa Station. I bought lunch at a coffee shop at the station. Eating a sandwich and coffee while enjoying a beautiful view from inside the train is something special. 11:38. Approximately 3 hours from Nagano Station. We arrived at the final stop, Fujimi Station.
I also received these Azusa commemorative tin badges. It’s a great deal to be able to ride this sightseeing train by simply adding a reserved seat for 530 yen to the regular fare. From Fujimi Station, transfer to a local train and head to Hakuba Station via Matsumoto Station, which you passed earlier.
The Oito Line, which runs from Matsumoto Station to Hakuba Station, offers views of mountains and lakes, so I never got bored riding it. 3:50 p.m. Arrived at Hakuba Station. The hotel’s shuttle bus came to pick us up, so we got on it and headed to the hotel. We arrived at the hotel.
The exterior looks like a large cottage in the forest. There is a lot of firewood piled up next to the bench at the entrance, which seems to be used for the wood stove inside the building.
When you enter the lobby, there are stairs on the left that lead to the restaurant on the second floor. When you look at the ceiling, you can see a thick wooden frame similar to that of a log house, which is different from the ceiling of a hotel.
As you walk through the stone-paved lobby, you will see a large flower tower. Sofas are lined up so you can enjoy the outside scenery. When you look at the lobby from here, you will see a very large and bright space.
When you step outside, you will see a vast garden that stretches all the way to the back. There seem to be wild birds here, and you can birdwatch using the binoculars provided. And there’s a wood burning stove here.
Apparently they turn on this wood stove on weekends in the summer and every day in the winter. There is a hammock on the other side, so you can enjoy the scenery while swinging. The room this time was 404. Enter the room with this card key. It’s a pretty bright room.
As soon as you enter, the first thing you see is the washstand area. Let’s start from here. There is space for a wash basin. The sink is quite wide and deep. This water can be used as drinking water.
It says that we use underground water that springs from the water source in Hakuba Village, which has soaked into the mountains of the Northern Alps. So I guess this water is delicious. It looks like they use spring water, which is a luxury. From the left, there is a hair dryer and two glasses.
This is face wash and hand wash. And here are the amenities. Let’s see what we have. This is a brush. There are two toothbrushes. There is a shave. The rest is a body towel. And these are cotton swabs and cotton.
I think there aren’t many amenities, but this hotel does have a large public bath. I guess they have other amenities. So I think I’ve put it here at least. What’s nice about this sink is that it has a chair.
So, while sitting, you can dry your hair or apply makeup while looking in the mirror in front of you. There are two doors here, and one door looks like this. It has become a toilet. There is a separate toilet, which is nice. Let’s open another door. This is the bathroom.
It’s a fairly large bathtub. You can also stretch your legs and enter. But there is a hot spring, so I would like to use it. I think it’s good if you want to take a shower in the morning. From the left, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are available. Let’s open this.
It has become a closet. There is a hanger here. From the right, there are 8 hangers in total, 4 for pants and 4 for jackets. There are lights, brushes, shoe horns, and disposable slippers. Let’s open other locations. It’s the same space as before, but it’s much larger. I’m putting my luggage away now.
There is plenty of room for large suitcases. There is a safety deposit box here. I just opened it up. I think it will fit a 13 inch computer. There are three drawers at the bottom, so you can store small items here if you are staying for a long time.
The room looks like this. It’s really spacious. This is a standard twin room. It was listed as 30㎡ to 34㎡. I think it’s about 34 square meters. There is a large TV. It is more than 50inch. There are three closets like this below.
At the bottom is a yukata, which you can wear inside the building. You can also wear this yukata to the public bath. There is also a small drawer here, and when you open it, there are two teacups, two teacup sets, and two glasses.
Here, we have coffee powder, creamy powder, and sugar ready to drink coffee right away. This includes two hojicha teas and two green teas. There is a box for ice cream. It also comes with a Tefal kettle. There is a tissue box. There’s also a small dresser, or rather a stand.
And there’s also a chair. You can even apply your makeup while sitting here. Store your small items here. I turn around and see a coffee table. There are two chairs that look comfortable to sit on. I just sat down and found it to be very comfortable. Let’s take a look at the bed.
Each bed has two beds that are about the size of a single or semi-double. Two pillows and one cushion are provided. The cushion is huge. There is one very soft pillow and one slightly firmer pillow, so you can adjust it to your preference. This bag contains a bath towel.
As for why it’s in a bag, it looks like I’m going to take this bag to the public bath on the first floor. I’ll also go to the public bath later. There are two lamps next to the bed. You can adjust the brightness like this. A clock is provided.
There is a memo paper. I have a phone. There are two outlets and a USB here. There are each one of them, so there are a total of 4 outlets and 2 USB ports. You can charge up to 3 batteries without using an extension cable. I think this is enough.
You can see outside from the side of your bed. For your safety, please refrain from opening or closing the windows. It says that you shouldn’t open it. In this way, you can see the greenery outside while sleeping. Unfortunately it’s raining now. And here, you can open this and get out.
Let’s open it up now. There is thunder now. There is also a screen door to prevent insects from entering. You can also go out to the balcony like this. There’s a roof, so even if it rains, a little bit will come inside.
You can sit on the chair and look at the scenery outside and breathe in the fresh air. I can’t see anything right now, but if the weather is nice, I think I’ll be able to see the mountains. You can spend time in nature like this.
In the morning, you can sit here and drink coffee while breathing in the fresh air. I’m looking forward to it. Let’s close it for a moment. Let’s measure your internet speed. Let’s start. Download speed is 196Mbps. Upload speed is 276Mbps, which is quite fast.
I think you can enjoy the internet without any problems. Also, since I was staying for 3 nights, I got 6 drink tickets. I would like to go to a restaurant and have a drink later. I would like to enjoy my stay in this room for 3 nights. That’s all from the room.
Excuse me. I immediately used my one-drink ticket at the lounge space on the second floor of the lobby. You can choose drinks from this menu. I had orange juice and my wife had red wine. Good morning, it’s 7:24 now.
It looks like it’s going to be cloudy and then rain today, so I’d like to go hiking in the mountains. It looks like the weather will be worse tomorrow, so I think I’ll climb it today. A free shuttle bus runs from the hotel to the Happo-one gondola stop twice a day.
Riding it, I will aim for Happo-one today. It’s 8:42. I took the hotel’s free shuttle bus at 8:30, arrived at the gondola entrance in 2-3 minutes, and am now on the gondola. I’m a little worried about the weather, but it hasn’t rained yet. I don’t have any rain gear.
If it starts to pour, you’ll have no choice but to ride the gondola home. If you buy tickets at the hotel, you will get a 10% discount, so it is better to buy tickets at the hotel. The end of the gondola was almost in sight.
I think I’ll probably get off there, so I prepare to get off. I just got on the lift. It shakes quite a bit. It’s similar to an open ski lift. It’s slow, but it’s pretty cool. If it rains, you’ll be exposed to the rain.
The number one item on the list of lost items was a smartphone, so please be careful. Maybe if I drop it, I won’t be able to find it. I took the gondola and the lift. I thought it was the last stop, but it looks like I still have to take the lift.
I’m going to ride it now. I’m on the third lift. First we rode the gondola, then the lift, then the third lift. I have arrived now. There’s quite a bit of gas (fog). I just got off the lift and started climbing the mountain. There are quite a lot of rocks.
I came wearing regular shoes. You can’t see anything below. It’s foggy. It’s now 9:28. After getting off the lift and going to the bathroom, I walked around the rocky rocks for about 10 minutes. It feels a little harder than I imagined.
I was sweating so I took off my jacket and climbed in a polo shirt and jeans. The right side is quite sloped. It’s foggy and hard to see. The side we climbed up was quite steep, but we couldn’t see it because of the fog. I climbed 1,974m, and it says Mt. Happo (cairn).
We have now arrived at Happo Cologne. The altitude is 2,035m. I walked quite a bit. I’m aiming for Happo Pond, but it’s only 350m away. Fog is rising steadily from below. It’s amazing, this is a slope where if you fall, you’ll keep rolling. We arrived at Happo Pond.
It’s a bit windy and foggy today, so it’s hard to see the mountains. I can see the mountains in the distance right now. The standard time is about 60 minutes, but since I climbed the mountain at a leisurely pace, it took me an hour and 10 minutes. The mountain has disappeared.
After resting for a while, it just started to become sunny. I could see mountains such as Mt. Karamatsu, Mt. Kaerazunoken, and Mt. Hakuba Yarigadake. It’s really impressive. It’s amazing that you can see this view after climbing for about an hour from the gondola.
While I was enjoying the view of Happo Pond, the clouds were increasing, so it was time to head down the mountain. Everyone was eating rice balls at the top of the mountain, or rather, at Happo Pond.
It may be a good idea to bring something like a banana or rice ball to replenish your energy. I’m already hungry. This time, we will go down this wooden path, which is long but easy to walk. I’m glad it didn’t rain.
I don’t have a raincoat or an umbrella, so I want to go home before it rains. I’m also getting hungry. It’s better to buy rice balls. I can’t see anything underneath. I can’t see it, so it’s not that scary. I’m going down. We have arrived at the last point of the lift.
It took 35 minutes (to descend the mountain). It took an hour to get there, but the way down was quick. I started to see the scenery, so I took some pictures. It’s a nice view. There was a restaurant on Usagidaira Terrace, the gondola relay point, so I ate curry and rice.
This is the last gondola. The scenery looks more beautiful on the way back. It looks like it’s raining and there are raindrops on the window. I’m glad I made it this far without getting caught in the rain. I’m hungry, so I go to a convenience store near the hotel to buy some dessert.
There is a gondola shuttle, but you have to walk a little to reach convenience stores and restaurants. I just arrived at Lawson. It takes 13-14 minutes to get to the nearest convenience store. I’ll buy tomorrow’s breakfast or today’s snack. I’ve been going all the way up this hill.
The route is all downhill, so it’s easy. If you walk for about 13 to 14 minutes, you will arrive at Lawson. Instead, the return trip will be all the way up. It’s quite shady, but I get sweaty on the way up.
After this, you will take a bath in the hot springs to relax, and then enjoy a course dinner. For dinner, we will have a course meal called Montage at Chamonix, a restaurant on the second floor of the hotel. The first dish was seasonal river fish. Yamame escabeche grown in spring water.
There are 3 Yamame. It’s like fried yamame beans pickled in vinegar, and it’s very refreshing and delicious. The second item is the deliciousness of Hakuba. Shinshu salmon tartare. Accented with green pea puree and cream cheese marinated in miso.
The small chunks of salmon contain turnips and cream cheese, and are served with green sauce. The flavor of the miso pickle was a great accent, and it was so delicious that I would have wanted a bowl of it if possible. This time, the warm bread arrived.
A baguette is a long thin piece of bread. The round bread is called brioche. There is also olive oil and butter to put on the bread. The baguette has just the right firmness and a little bit of salt, making it delicious. This can be replaced, so I’ll add it later.
3 items have arrived. This is a cold soup of clear stream, water shellfish, and junsai. The soup is clear, but it’s made from tomato extract, and it contains junsai and finely chopped water molluscs. Although it is clear, it has a very elegant taste with a strong tomato taste.
It’s so delicious that you’ll want to drink it from a pitcher instead of from such a small cup. The fourth item is the blessings of the sea. Fish eye gobly and chef style. As soon as it is placed in front of you, you can smell the shellfish.
It looks like they use sea bass from Chiba Prefecture, and you have to open the transparent bag it is wrapped in. The sea bass is plump and has a good taste. There are also extracts from garlic, tomatoes, olives, and mussels, which go well together.
This soup is so delicious that you should definitely try it with rice. The main dish is pork fillet. A duet of Goichi wine and truffles has arrived. The sauce in the bowl is Goichi wine sauce. The black sauce painted on the plate is a puree sauce made with truffles.
Onion pie is also included. Let’s start with beef fillet. This meat is tender and delicious. It was my first time to eat such tender and delicious meat. Refills of bread have arrived. This is the third time. This time I got bread that wasn’t brioche.
Maybe we had too many refills and the brioche ran out. The onion pie that comes with it has a crispy pizza-like flavor and is very delicious. Finally dessert. The highlight dessert is coconut espuma and exotic sorbet. It has an eyeball design, and the white part of the eye is coconut espuma.
The highlight on the top is ice cream made from tropical fruits such as passion fruit and mango. When eaten together, the sour sorbet and coconut mousse at the bottom give it just the right taste. It’s delicious, but it was a mystery to me why they designed it as the centerpiece.
At the end, we had coffee and the course was over. I was able to refill a lot of delicious bread, so I was full and satisfied. Today we will get back on the bus and head to the gondola stop heading towards Hakuba Mountain Harbor. It’s now 8:52. I rode a gondola.
The gondola seemed to be running from 8:30, so it was perfect. We left the hotel at 8:40, arrived at the boarding point at 48 minutes, and accelerated from there. We will climb all at once from here. It’s 9 o’clock this morning. We arrived at Hakuba Mountain Harbor.
The altitude is 1,289m, which is lower than yesterday’s Happoike, but it’s nice to be able to get there with just one gondola. As I walked straight, I saw a big swing and heard Heidi, the Alpine Girl, singing. This swing was quite popular, and many people took turns enjoying it.
We will now head to the mountaintop terrace where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Northern Alps. This terrace has a part that juts out into the mountain side, and from there you can enjoy a panoramic view of Hakuba. There were a lot of clouds on this day.
There are tables and chairs, and they also sell coffee and bread. I was able to enjoy the scenery of the Northern Alps and the passing clouds while slowly drinking coffee. This is Hitokinomori. I took the lift down from Hakuba Mountain Harbor.
There was something called Techball that was a combination of soccer and table tennis, so I decided to try it out. Neither of us have any soccer experience, so our rallies never last.
However, it became a hellish game where the other player was forced to pick up the ball that was kicked by the opponent. Isn’t there a game that everyone can enjoy? Now, I’m going to take the lift again from Hitokinomori and go up. We arrived at the giant mouse tree.
It’s easy to get there in about 20 minutes after you start walking, but it’s huge. A huge tree splits into two. 12:06. Take a gondola ride home from Hakuba Mountain Harbor. It is a tourist destination where you can easily see the scenery of Hakuba with just one gondola.
Recommended for families with small children, elderly people, and those who want to hike with their pets. After getting off the gondola, take the free shuttle bus back to the hotel. Instead of getting off the gondola at Mountain Harbor and returning to the hotel, we got off at this Happo bus terminal.
For some reason, I wanted to eat lunch. There are no places to eat lunch around the hotel. The hotel restaurant is also not open for lunch. So I definitely have to eat lunch outside. It’s the only ramen shop around here. All the soba restaurants and tonkatsu restaurants are closed.
I think it’s only open on Saturdays and Sundays. For lunch, I’m a lunch refugee, so finding an open restaurant around here is really valuable. So you’ll excuse me. After that, I ate ramen and bought dinner at Lawson. I returned to the hotel and relaxed in the hot spring. It’s 11:30 on September 13th.
Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and checked out today. I would like to talk about the good things about staying at this hotel and the things you should be careful about. The good thing about it is that it’s a great place to sightsee the mountains of Hakuba.
The hotel provides a shuttle bus from the hotel to Happo-one and Happo-ike every morning. And on the way back, they provide a bus to take you to the hotel. This hotel is very convenient for those who want to go to Happo-one, Happoike, Tsugaike, and Hakuba Mountain Harbor, which I went to yesterday.
When I come back tired from hiking in the mountains, I immediately take a bath in the hot springs. I thought this point was also very good. I think this was just the busy season. I couldn’t make a restaurant reservation on the day I checked in.
I was told that the place was already full. So, if you want to use this restaurant, it is better to know the restaurant at the time you book the hotel. All the hotel staff provide excellent service.
The food at the restaurant was delicious, the hotel room was spacious, and it was a hotel I would want to come back to again. Afterwards, I was taken to Hakuba Station by the hotel’s shuttle bus.
At a set meal restaurant in front of the station, I had a katsudon with sauce and my wife had a fried chicken set meal. Then we will head to our next destination, Tateshina Tokyu Hotel, also in Nagano Prefecture. I’m also really looking forward to staying at Tateshina, which represents Japan’s highland resorts.

自分も観光列車に乗っているような気分になる楽しい動画でした!
自然の中のホテルは良いですね。こういうところでコース料理をいただくなんて羨ましいです。ところで部屋で水道水は飲まれましたか?美味しいんだろうな。
