The length of the open-air bath is 5m. It is about the same size as a public bath at a small inn. There are drinks available outside too, so it’s nice to be ready. We can put drinks in the bucket. There’s a refrigerator outside, which is great. Towel warmer. Audio room.

This is a bead cushion from a manufacturer called Yogibo. This is a TV made by the Danish luxury manufacturer “Bang & Olufsen.” Various things are placed there. Above all, it was a very spacious room. I think this room is unique in that it has a TV room compared to the others.

It’s dinner time. Dinner is usually served in the room, but this time we heard that the Japanese-style room at Takezono garden was open, so we ate there. Go inside. There will be a special guest. Open. Special guest “Kumamon”. It is probably the largest Kumamon in the world. Kumamon’s eyes are wrinkled.

Paws on the feet. The best special guest. Soft drink. Beer, whiskey. Glass of wine, fruit liquor. Champagne. There is “Krug” that appears in first class on airplanes. White wine and red wine. Wine. Japanese sake (Japanese rice wine). Shochu (distilled spirits).

Since there are some foreigners staying here, they also have a drink menu in English. The envelope contains a piece of paper with a dinner menu written on it. The dinner menu changes seasonally. First of all, let me say that the amount of food is large.

Since there are almost no places to eat around Takefue, they seem to eat a large amount of dinner. Chopstick rest and chopsticks. Towel. The aperitif is mandarin orange sake. Wooden box. Sweet shrimp, red clams, spinach, eel, etc. Sweet orange jelly. Appetizers.

Sushi with soles, Japanese beef, shungiku and nagaimo kinshimaki, Kumamoto karashi lotus root, etc. Shimonita green onion grilled sea urchin, tomato, grilled scallop terrine. The spiny lobster that was cut alive was still moving for a while. This is lobster sashimi. Shabu-shabu hotpot with yellowtail and vegetables. Japanese beef and foie gras wrapped in lettuce, winter vegetables. Broccoli sauce. Ordered plum wine. A large titanium cup. Yellowtail shabu-shabu. The color of the yellowtail will change immediately.

Rice mixed with crab and Japanese parsley. Add eggs and white foam soy sauce. It looks delicious. Wooden tableware was often used for dinner. Finally dessert.

Western style dessert. Japanese style dessert. Fruits. Dinner ended while being watched over by Kumamon. The next room is like a bar. This is the toilet. It’s a beautiful toilet. Dinner was satisfying in both taste and quantity. There is a flute performance in the garden that night.

Pond and waterfall at night. The lighting is beautiful. Bamboo is said to reach a maximum height of 25 meters. It’s very long. The atmosphere is very nice at night. This is the entrance to Takefue. The grounds of Takefue are beautiful at night, so I decided to walk around the whole area.

The path from the entrance to the front desk. It has a fantastic atmosphere at night, unlike during the day. There is only one room called Bettei Tenku (別邸天空) here. Entrance to the hut with lobby. There is also “Shishiodoshi” here. The atmosphere of the lobby remains the same even at night.

Although the volume is turned down, music is played inside Takefue at night. Go to the Tsukimi (moon viewing) deck. It’s beautiful. It’s called the Tsukimi (moon viewing) Deck, so it seems like a good place to sit and watch the sky. This time I forgot to look at the sky.

In front of the room we are staying in. I like the red bridge. To the corridor. It may be a little difficult to walk up the stairs if we wear geta. This is Takezono garden, where we came after dinner. Kumamon inside the Japanese-style room can be seen from outside.

To the Kawadoko garden. Kawadoko Garden is very beautiful when lit up at night. The short bamboos on the ground are beautiful. There is a small light bulb inside the bamboo. Bonfire. We can walk around the grounds in about 20 minutes. We go back to the room. Go to the room.

They used the leftover rice from dinner to make rice balls. There’s sand here. Bathing. The temperature of the open-air bath is 42 degrees in spring, 41 degrees in summer, 42 degrees in autumn, and 43 degrees in winter. Place the drink in the bucket and float the bucket in the open-air bath.

I’ll take the opportunity to add yuzu. As you can see from the video, the open-air bath is 5 meters long, so it’s very spacious. Takefue opened in 2000, but has been renovated several times. This room has also been renovated and has a slightly different design than before.

The indoor bath felt a little warm. An open-air bath is better than an indoor bath. Amenities have a simple design. Going to bed. Good morning. For breakfast, we can choose between Japanese and Western food. This is Western food. Looks delicious.

This is Japanese food. There is no paper with a menu written on it. We can choose meal times from 8:00, 8:30, and 9:00. There are various kinds of food in wooden tableware. The morning fish is salmon. Dashi-rolled eggs. Shiitake mushrooms. Fruits and salad. Pot. Everything looks delicious. Bamboo and towel.

Earthen pot rice. Bamboo forest water and tea. It says, “Probably the biggest Kumamon in the world. Please don’t kick, hit, or bully him.” It’s quite large and seems difficult to carry. Bamboo with sesame dressing. Breakfast was also delicious. Also, I felt that breakfast was not as large as dinner.

Let’s take a look at the bamboo garden and pond in the morning. The atmosphere of the pond changes considerably depending on the time of day. There are mallards. I don’t think it was there the day before, but I may have just overlooked it. We go back to the room.

I’m going to take a bath in the morning. Due to our return flight, we will be checking out before 10am. The price is 424,150 yen (2,862 USD). We received a souvenir. Cairo. Calendar and brochure. The service that gives us brochure on the way home is unique.

This is a map of the inside of the inn. A description of each room is written. This is the calendar for 2024. If we display the calendar at home, we will never forget about Takefue for a year. This is an amazing service that we don’t often see at other Japanese inns.

It seems that Takefue has many repeat customers, which makes sense. All 12 rooms have different tastes, so I’ll want to stay in one of the other rooms. If they give them a brochure on the way home, it probably means that they are asking us to come back again.

If we stay for consecutive nights, we can have lunch at Takefue. This is an English lunch menu. The inn can also be used as a day trip. We’ll go home then. The bamboo we see in the morning also has a different atmosphere. I feel like there is a lot of bamboo again.

This is the entrance. On the way back, we will be picked up by a private car. All the Takefue staff will see us off. Waters are provided in the car and the temperature can be adjusted. It takes 1 hour and 30 minutes by car from Takefue to Aso Kumamoto Airport.

It takes 1 hour and 40 minutes by plane from Aso Kumamoto Airport to Haneda Airport (Tokyo). To be honest, the inn “takefue” is located in a location with poor access. I think it would be easier to go by taxi or bus from Aso Kumamoto Airport or Fukuoka Airport.

To summarize my impressions, Takefue was a wonderful inn. The room was spacious and the drinks were placed near the open-air bath. Personally, I thought the food was delicious, but there are some reviews that say it’s not good.

The facility does not have a large public bath, but there are room baths and private baths, so I don’t think it will be a problem. The service content was perfect. Handing out brochure and calendar on the way home will also leave a lasting impression on our memory.

The difficulty may be the location with poor access and the difficulty of making reservations. When it comes to reservations, I think it’s best to make reservations early or wait until a room becomes available due to cancellation. Thank you for your viewing.
