津軽鉄道は、昭和５年から運行している日本最北の民間鉄道です。
津軽五所川原駅から津軽中里駅間20.7キロメートルを約45分で結びます。
夏は津軽金山焼の風鈴を客車内につるし、俳句の短冊を下げた涼味あふれる｢風鈴列車｣、
秋は鈴虫のかごを車内に置き、可憐な鈴虫の声が聞ける｢鈴虫列車｣、
冬は旧型車輌で運行するだるまストーブが名物、｢ストーブ列車｣が運行されています。

斜陽館(Syayoukan)

太宰治記念館「斜陽館」は、小説家　太宰治が生まれる2年前の明治40年(1907)、太宰治の父・津島源右衛門によって建てられた豪邸です。
和洋折衷・入母屋造りの建物は、米蔵にいたるまで青森ひばが使用され、どっしりした重厚感が特徴となっています。
国の重要文化財建造物に指定され、明治期の木造建築物としても貴重な建物です。

駅舎(Cafe Ekisya)

赤い屋根の喫茶店「駅舎」は津軽鉄道・芦野公園旧駅舎を活用した喫茶店です。
津軽鉄道芦野公園駅は「県立自然公園」の中に存在する全国でも珍しい駅となっています。
春は満開の桜のトンネルをくぐり、雪が舞う冬は石炭ストーブ列車が勇ましく駆け抜けます。
また旧金木町出身の作家・太宰治の小説「津軽」の中にも登場する駅として知られています。
