Hello everyone, I’m Takashi. This time, I’m going to upload a video of the arcade, shopping street, and fallen town in the center of Tokushima City, which is the prefectural capital of Tokushima Prefecture and has a population of about 27,000 people.First, let’s move on to the video. This
Is the scene in front of JR Tokushima Station, the central station of this town. The early part of the video was taken with a different camera than I usually use, so the image quality is poor, but please forgive me.
As you can see, the rotary and pedestrian deck stretch out for a long time. The station building itself is large, housing a hotel and a commercial complex, and across the street is a Mitsukoshi called Amiko. It has an urban-like appearance due to the presence of a large commercial facility with many shops,
Etc.If you get off the deck in front of the station and proceed south, you will see the road of National Route 439, which you can see now, stretching out onto the sidewalk. There is a roof on top of the building, where local shops are lined up,
And the one that has now been moved is the one that crosses the Shinmachi Bridge over the Shinmachi River. I saw a number of buildings, and it looked like there were a lot of old buildings, but you can see what lies beyond the buildings.I
Posted a video of it a while ago, which I climbed on the Bizama Ropeway. It is a famous tourist spot, with a spot overlooking the city of Tokushima from the top of the mountain. As you can see, as you can see, the entrance to the arcade shopping street
Appears on the opposite side of the road. There’s also a small arcade, but we’ll show you that in the second half of the video.Currently, we’ve moved to the main arcade in the center of Tokushima City, Higashishinmachi, and the shopping street, Tokushima Hansou Yatsuka Imma. It
Started as a gathering of merchants when they entered the country in 1585, and by 1630 it had prospered as Tokushima’s number one shopping district. In 1934, a department store called Nemashi Department Store was located at the entrance of the arcade, and it was a
Bank. I think there was a shopping street there, but it opened there and further developed as a shopping street. The previous life of this arcade was around the 1970s, and on holidays, the number of pedestrians reached as many as 40,000. By the way, this video is
From January 2024, and it shows a calm arcade street where only pedestrians and bicycles can be seen from time to time. There are also a number of shops with their shutters closed. As you can see, there was a fork in the road at the illuminations, and I came to the
Bright side, which turned out to be another arcade called Kagoya-machi Shopping Street. But it ‘s a better department store. Initially, it was affiliated with Daimaru and Seibu, and it was said to have gained popularity as a store in Mako’s Higashi-Shinmachi shopping district,
But in 1983 it opened in front of the station in what is now Amiko. As a result, the Higashi- Shinmachi shopping district began to decline, and the Martin Department Store closed in 1995.The site was later used as an event plaza, and
Later the main branch of the now-defunct Anyasu Bank was built. In addition to department stores, it seems that in the past there were movie theaters such as DaA, Toei, and Toho. However, these facilities are also suburban roadside stores
, and with the opening of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge. It seems that the proximity to the Kansai region has influenced the situation, and now it is located at the entrance of the arcade, which is an anime specialty store produced by an anime production company called UF Table. There
Are movie theaters, and they also sell goods, and there is a movement to liven up Tokushima with anime. The street on the side of Masono Arcade has also changed quite a bit, but as you can see, the area is becoming more and more like a fallen town at night. It’s about
8:00 pm or 9:00 pm on a Sunday, but I would like to share with you the details of my walk. This is the day I took this photo. That’s why I was able to walk leisurely at night like this. It was written as Takagicho 1-chome. It
Was an area located on the west side of Tokushima City’s Kagura District, but Nema Yonoe Entertainment. I saw a lot of shops like this right away, right? From there, they are slowly moving eastward. The east side of Takajo Town is
Probably becoming the Sae Town area.Even now, there are many shops like that in the information center. As it was written on the wind, I entered the narrow road again from the information center, and there was an adult entertainment shop with a big signboard, and opposite it was a small multi-tenant
Building containing snacks and other things. It looks like they are lined up in a row, right? This is the address of a fallen town in Tokushima City, but it is long and narrow, and the area has been designated, so for example, along this street in Sae Town. I was just walking
Along the street, and it looked like Takagi Town, and it seemed like it had a nice atmosphere. Now, I walked into the street a little further back, and there was a pretty big signboard that said this was an adult entertainment shop. There are about two of them in a row, and it’s very
Glaring. When you walk around at night, you can clearly see just how large and prosperous the fallen town of Tokushima is, even though it’s only a Sunday. I don’t think I’ve seen that many people, but the fallen areas of Tokushima City are
Divided into areas with place names such as Akita-cho, Tomato-cho, and Sae-cho, Takagi-cho. This area has been part of the castle town since the Edo period, and in the Meiji era, a red-light district was established in Akita Town, so from now on,
It is called a town. Moving on to the video, we move to a larger street. Tokushima is famous for Maawaori, and yes, the street you see now is a very lively street where many people gather and dance every August. From now on, we will be
Walking through an area called Akita Town. There will be a large road crossing again, but from now on, we will proceed south of this intersection. The area is called Akita-cho, and considering that it’s a city with a population of around 200,000 people, it’s quite high-rise, medium-rise buildings are lined up densely, and there are
A lot of bars like this. You can also see the signboard for the free information center, and since this is the main street, you’ll see a lot of people walking here, unlike the back street I mentioned earlier. I feel like this is a bit of an inappropriate expression, but
This is one of Tokushima’s busiest districts, so it’s true that there aren’t many landscapes in Tokushima where buildings are lined up like this. The police officer gave me a strong feeling that it was the center of the city,
But it also means that this fallen town has been around for a long time.Even from the Showa era to the Heisei era, it has been flourishing as Tokushima’s nightlife district. There are many restaurants and bars, and there are also many snack cabaret clubs,
And if you go a little further down the street, there are hotels for adults. As you can see from the number of pedestrians ignoring traffic lights like this, the traffic volume is not that heavy, and the number of shops in front of the station and in the suburbs is
Increasing and developing. Over the past few years, the population has been on the decline, partly due to the infectious disease problem that hit the fallen town directly, and the bustling atmosphere it once had is gone. When I entered the area, I noticed that there were many adult-oriented adult entertainment establishments
Standing alone in dark places, and there were many streets that seemed to require some courage to walk down. Yes, it’s a dark place, but this area of Tokushima’s fallen town seems to have quite a deep sex-related area,
So I guess it’s a little further south of where I’ve been walking so far. I had completely forgotten about the cat at the time, but now that I’m editing and narrating it, I remember that I had that information, and I regret not mentioning it at that time. I
Wish I could have my revenge again, so this video is from the day I stopped at an inn in this fallen town and was about to head back to my hometown Kochi from Tokushima Station. This is the
Back of the fallen town. I went through the streets and came into town tonight, and I’m taking all the building troops. From there, I’m going into the back streets, and I’d like to take a last look at the arcade shopping district. When I featured the video of Higashi-Shinmachi Shopping District earlier, I
Think there was a branch off there.I took that branch into Kagoyama-cho Shopping District earlier, but it’s also on the dimly lit side of Higashi-Shinmachi Shopping District. As you can see, there are a lot of shops with their shutters closed, and most of them
Are in a parallel state, I guess, just because they’re overworked. There’s a cosmetics shop near the entrance to the arcade. I saw some shops open and open, but when Mako was photographed it was a gloriously sunny day, so there was a dark atmosphere here,
Reflecting the harshness of the business in the center of Tokushima City. After passing straight through Higashi-Shinmachi Shopping Street, I took National Route 439, where the visa section is now, and then crossed this road to the other side, heading for Nishi-Shinmachi Shopping Street. I’ve posted videos of Tokushima city center in the past, but
At that time I only took a small part of the arcade shopping district, so I’ll just show you the whole thing once. As you can see, this Nishi-Shinmachi shopping street is quite short, but there are several local shops. I was
Able to confirm that it was open for business, so I came out on the opposite side of the entrance. If you go a little further from there, as you can see, there are quite a few buildings standing there. You can see several office buildings. There are some buildings that are
A little further away, but there are many buildings that are about 23 years old, so it ‘s a very calm town considering it’s the prefectural capital.Currently, the main branch of Anyasu Bank stands tall, but from there … Once again, I crossed the Shinmachi River towards Tokushima Station and headed
Back toward Tokushima Station, where I was about to return to Kochi.I came up on the road No. 318 sidewalk from the deck in front of Tokushima Station. Although it has only moved slightly to the west, the density of buildings has decreased
Considerably, and there are many office buildings on the east side of Nema Station, so this side is relatively close to the center of Hae Station. I’m a calm city police officer, and I’m currently on the west side of Tokushima Station. As you can see, the Popoga
Shopping District stretches out on a narrow street. On the other side of the street is the rotary in front of JR Tokushima Station. That’s why this store is 160 meters long and only 4 meters wide, with about 50 shops lined up.There
Are quite a few local restaurants, giving it a local feel, but there are also quite a few anime-related shops. It seems that Tokushima’s Akihabara-like existence has become something like that.In the past, it seems that Animate and maid cafes were also included in this area, and even now, it is located
Near Tokushima Station. Yes, you can see Big Echo karaoke shop, Matsuya gyudon shop, 7-Eleven convenience store, and the area around the rotary has a city-like atmosphere. When you look in front of the station from the rotary, Tokushima looks quite urban. That’s
Why this time I’m going to show you how the central part of Tokushima city looks, especially the arcade shopping street and the fallen town. This time, I’m going to take the Tokushima Line from JR Tokushima Station. I then took the limited express Kenbokusa to
Makoko Aikeda Station, a station on the west side of Tokushima Prefecture, and from there I transferred to the Kochi limited express and headed back to my hometown. I’ve posted quite a few videos around Dokdo City, but there’s still
A lot to be done. For example, there are many places I haven’t been able to photograph, such as fallen towns and the surrounding area that looks like a sleepy town, so I’ll continue to photograph various places in Tokushima Prefecture. I wish I could do it. Thank you for watching.
