Kobe (神戸市) is the capital city of Hyōgo Prefecture and is Japan’s seventh-largest city and the third-largest port city after Tokyo and Yokohama. It is located in the Kansai region, which makes up the southern side of the main island of Honshū, on the north shore of Osaka Bay.
The landmark of the port area is the red steel Port Tower. A ferris wheel sits in nearby Harbourland. Away from the seaside at the heart of Kobe lie the Motomachi and Sannomiya districts, as well as Kobe’s Chinatown, Nankin-machi, all well-known retail areas.
