The previous episode saw us arriving in Yellowknife. This time I chose to stay in “New Town”. Arrive at the airport around 9pm local time. It was almost 10 PM when we arrived to the hotel.

In fact, it is quite a shame as it is too late to join the night aurora hunting tour tonight So although we said we stayed for 3 nights… we only have 2 chances to see the northern light The name of the small hotel we stayed in was “Super 8”

Next to it is a very large Wal-Mart supermarket, where you can buy food or If you are not used to drinking local water, it is very convenient to buy water! I don’t know if this is the case in other places…

The tour guide told us that they actually don’t do anything to tourists. They usually ask for money or cigarettes when they come to talk to us. Just ignore them and pass quickly. When we arrived, we wore thick down jackets, However, I still wear regular jeans Then the shoes are Timberland

After buying McDonald’s and water, returning to the room, we took a look at the contents of the winter clothes we rented this time. Winter clothing includes down jackets and pants There are also gloves, scarves, shoes, But their gloves didn’t have separate fingers, so we actually wore our own ones later.

The cold-proof shoes they prepared are really, really heavy! So we almost always wore our own shoes when doing activities during the daytime At night, it is recommended to wear their pants, jackets and shoes! The next morning, we had a simple breakfast at the hotel. The breakfast content has a more local feel…

The atmosphere is very much like family having breakfast together The staff will bake waffles for everyone, like a Guest House where many of them are self-service. The local daylight hours are very short in winter, so there are not many activities that can be done during the day.

We planned to go for a walk in the city….but we underestimated the local weather…. We wore our own down jacket & the sweater from the uniqlo heat-tec collections I just walked to an exchange house near the hotel….

I had to give up the idea midway and decided to wait until noon to participate in the dog sledding activity. When we went dog sledding, we still didn’t wear all the local winter clothes either. They actually run super fast! The location is to run around a completely frozen lake (about 8 kilometers).

The time spent sitting in the sled is about 15-20 mins. The local breeding methods are different from pet dogs at home. It gets cold wherever the wind blows, especially on the cheeks and hands I remember my knees were freezing that day!

To participate in dog sledding, it’s better to keeping warm ! The itinerary said that dog sledding only takes about half an hour, but it starts from hotel pickup After arriving at the local area, you have to wait in line for a while.

So the total time added up is about 1.5 to 2 hours. After dog sledding we had a meal at a local restaurant. It is a restaurant with a relatively high Google rating in Xincheng District, about 4.3 points. It’s a steakhouse. The local specialty buffalo steak tastes quite tender!

I originally thought it would not taste too tender, but I didn’t expect it to be quite good! French fries are also included with the meal (there are several to choose from) What I ordered was fish steak, which is a local freshwater fish (pickerel). In addition, we also ordered Chowder soup,

The bread is super delicious! ! (*´∀`*)/ Hot on the outside and soft on the inside! It goes great with Chowder At around 9:30 pm, we started our first night of aurora hunting The first day of participation was to take their car to different locations to see the Aurora.

But we were not so lucky tonight… The clouds are very, very thick! The moon was still visible at the first location, but when I arrived at the second location The group we joined was quite nice they made a small campfire and prepared some snacks and marshmallows for everyone !

With the campfire in the snow and also a variety of hot drinks! Tourists from different countries drink hot chocolate and roast marshmallows together and spend a great time ! For sightseeing in the city, taking a taxi is actually not too expensive. About 15~20 CAD

We arrived at the bus stop near the hotel and prepared to take the bus to the city. If you take the bus to the city, the fare is 6 CAD per person. After taking a ride from the new town to the city, if you want to transfer to the old town again

You can transfer directly to the next bus without paying any more money. After arriving in the old town, the first attraction was a completely frozen lake. There are many boats parked on the lake, but because the whole thing is frozen So it seems like they are all stopped on land….

It’s a lake next to the old town There are also dog sledding activities on the lake. At noon this day, we plan to go to a local restaurant with the highest rating on Google A restaurant for fish & chips! This restaurant is probably the one with the most queues in Yellowknife Town.

There are even many tourists who come here by taxi. In fact, almost 99% of the people in line are tourists. I didn’t see any locals queuing up… there’s many options , mostly seafood based. They also sell buffalo steaks here. There are three ways to cook fish steak: “fried”, “pan-fried” and “grilled”.

DEEP FRIED is the most classic fried fish steak in everyone’s mind. PAN FRIED is fried and eaten with sauce! PAN FRIED is super delicious! ! ^^b After we finished our meal, we walked to the city This time we went to the “Visitor Center”

Here you can get a certificate of “Visited to 60 Degrees North Latitude”. In addition to the visitor center, we also went to a local museum There are many local traditional cultural relics and specimens on display there. After that we also visited their parliament center

You can see inside the parliament center where they usually hold meetings…. There’s also a bear in the middle…a polar bear rug? ! The Aurora tour we participated in today was different from the previous day. Go to the cabin and follow the tour to see the aurora nearby.

I was very lucky that day… I saw a (very faint) aurora on the way there. this tour also provide bread and Chowder There is a traditional tent next to the cabin, which also has a campfire. people can stay warm inside and wait for the Aurora to appear!

Except for the aurora that appeared at the beginning…it never appeared again after waiting for more than two hours. Before we were about to leave, a more obvious aurora began to appear in the sky! ! ! Only then did I realize that it was completely different from what I saw at first! !

Let’s talk about the equipment we used for shooting. We have GO PRO, iphone and cameras. After downloading the photo app, I was able to barely capture the aurora on my iPhone. Of course, the picture quality is really not good… but the videos and photos were taken!

It is recommended that all photographic equipment carry spare batteries and mobile power supplies. Go Pro already knew the day before that it was difficult to record videos at night. But in terms of camera function, it’s actually pretty good! Almost all of the later more successful photos were taken with Go Pro!

Because the Aurora came out relatively late, it was already 2am when we returned to the hotel and we’re leaving Yellowknife in the morning and prepare to head to Vancouver. barely slept that night…. maybe it’s the reason we got so sick later …

經過兩次轉機後我們抵達了加拿大極光聖地「黃刀鎮」！
雖然是待三個晚上，但因為第一天抵達時間太晚
只能參加後面兩個晚上的極光活動
但人品大爆發有順利的看到極光出現！

白天活動參加了狗拉雪橇
走訪了黃刀鎮市區景點
也品嚐了黃刀鎮美食
整個相當充實！

オーロラ鑑賞の聖地カナダ「イエローナイフ」に」到着！
３泊滞在しましたが、
初日の夜到着時間が遅かったため、
オーロラ鑑賞ツアーの参加に間に合わなかったですが
翌日から2晩を参加して無事でオーロラ鑑賞することができました！＾＾
