雪見露天風呂を求めて豪雪地帯へ。日本一の温泉地で初めての雪中車中泊。
Before heading to the hot springs we’re aiming for, we’ll stop by our favorite roadside station in Okayama Prefecture. This is so delicious! Yeah, this one! But udon is irresistible too. Should we split it? Let’s split it.
This roadside station is famous for mochi. This gyumochi bowl has three pieces of mochi instead of rice. Looks delicious. This is so good. The best roadside station gourmet in Okayama. Let’s dig in. Cheers! Looks tasty. Both the udon and mochi were chewy and delicious.
Bought mochi because we want to grill it on the stove tomorrow morning. Heading to Tottori Prefecture where the desired hot springs are. This hot spring area is said to have the world’s top-class and Japan’s most radioactive springs. Not very famous, but a well-known hot spring among those in the know.
The free mixed-gender outdoor bath “Kawara Bath” standing by the river is a specialty. We’re looking forward to enjoying Yukimi Onsen there. Do you want to go? Shall we go for a walk? Amazing, right? Since our feet got wet, we’ll dry them with a hairdryer. That’s good, huh? Wagging its tail.
Yeah, Chibi looks better in that outfit than Bota. If Chibi wears it, it looks like a flamboyant dog. It’s good that we took Chibi and Bota for a walk. That’s good, huh? It’s nice that there’s no snow here. Yeah, definitely.
Tired from driving on an unfamiliar snowy road, so taking a short break while drinking warm tea. During the break, we’ll have a strategy meeting to maximize our enjoyment of Misasa Onsen. Thank you. Thanks for driving. No, not at all. The Hiace is amazing. Yeah, it’s incredible. It gets stuck so easily.
It was scary. Thank you. What should we do? There’s a mentioned outdoor bath called Kawara Bath. Definitely want to go in. Absolutely want to go in. Seems women can wrap a towel around them. So, we’ll go in at night. Definitely want to go in.
But with just this, I think we might catch a cold. I wanted to go to Kubuyu, which seems nice. It’s said that Koyu is the birthplace of Misasa Onsen. I really want to go. I see. Should we go in the morning too? I want to go in the morning too.
I want a morning bath. I’ve been looking into it. As expected. Kubuyu is open from 8 a.m. Let’s go to Kubuyu in the morning and choose another place for today. If so, it would be nice if there’s a place near Kawara Bath. This is the hot spring map.
This place called Seiryuso also seems nice. Good reviews. Where should we go? Is it close? Yeah, just across the bridge. Sounds good. The price is 800 yen, relatively cheap compared to other places. Certainly, expensive places cost around 1,500 yen. So, it’s good. Let’s go there. It’s open until 9 p.m. Great.
Okay, let’s take a short walk, and go to Kawara Bath around sunset. Take a bath, have dinner, something like that. Sounds good. It’s convenient that the public toilet is open 24 hours. The person at the tourist information center was really nice.
This is Kawara Bath. I couldn’t muster the courage to enter during the day… As it’s getting dark, we’re heading to the hot spring. Beautiful. Exciting. Beautiful. Are you going… Going!! There’s no reason not to go after coming this far. As expected. Even after going in the bath at Lake Kussharo.
I want to overwrite that memory! Cold. Warm. How is it? Good. Really good water. Warm. Warm? Warm! Feels good! Just a regular bath. That’s good. The best location and the best hot spring. It was a blissful time. After Kawara Bath, we came to “Seiryuso” for another hot spring.
World’s best radium spring, here we go. Delicious! Really? It’s a bit unique, but It’s easy to drink in the hot spring. Tastes good. It feels easy to drink in the hot spring. It has a bit of saltiness. Sorry for the wait. Warmed up. Feels good.
Chibi-Bo also turned on the electric blanket, so it must have been warm. Bota-chan too, Bota-chan too. Bota-chan’s fur has grown, hasn’t it? Getting all shaggy. Chibi, come here! Chibi: “I prefer Mom.” Suddenly, stopped wagging his tail. Oh, really? Chibi: “No men allowed.” Hungry. Hungry. Speaking of hot springs…?? Ramen!! Is that so?
Makes you want to eat, right? Should I put all the green onions? They only had this size. Please put them in. Is it okay? Luxurious. But this was about 80 yen, right? It was cheap. Vegetables are okay. Looks delicious, it looks delicious just like this. Looks delicious. Ramen. Asahikawa soy sauce.
They were selling this. And they also had Hakodate salt and Sapporo miso. But I was in the mood for soy sauce ramen. They use Rishiri kelp. It’s amazing. It must be delicious. Cheers to the night at Misasa Onsen! Delicious. After all, a cup after a hot spring is nice. Delicious.
The ramen looks delicious. Thank you, really. With a little tweaking, it’s instant but it’s good. The vegetables look delicious. I’m happy! I love bamboo shoots! Let’s eat. Let’s eat. Delicious. Delicious. The soy sauce has become mellow, I feel. It’s delicious. Bag noodles are really delicious.
I like the softness of the noodles in bag noodles. I understand, I understand. Misasa Onsen was good, wasn’t it? It felt really good. That snow-viewing bath was amazing. It was really good. There are two types, two of them.
One bathtub has the source flowing, and the other one next to it just has a little flow. The one in the front was quite lukewarm. Because Kawara Bath is exposed outside. The back side has the source flowing, so it’s warm. It was good to go to the back side. Absolutely.
It’s really warm even after getting out. It was cold until I put on my clothes, but after getting out, it was incredibly warm, so it was good. That’s good. After all, being able to bathe in such a location is luxurious. Yeah, the open-air bath is nice. It’s really nice. There’s a special feeling.
In my understanding of open-air baths, if you act embarrassed, it will be even more embarrassing. I feel like saying, “I’m used to it.” It’s like saying, “It’s something natural.” I think that way, but if someone actually comes in, it’s still embarrassing. That’s true. When someone comes in…
They’re probably deliberately going when they think nobody’s there. It depends on the time. How was it at Seiryuso? It was really good. It was great, right? Google reviews were good too. That’s why I chose it, and it also had a sense of cleanliness.
Depending on the time, women could use two baths, and men could use three. It was great for 800 yen. That’s good. The open-air, source-flowing bath was great, right? It was really great. But when I looked at the hot spring composition chart, it said “tasteless, odorless, colorless and transparent.”
Did you still feel different after bathing in it? Like a slow, gradual warmth? But it’s a chloride spring, right? It felt a bit salty, but I thought it was tasteless and odorless. That’s what I thought too. I’m glad we chose it. It was good, right? It was good.
The hot spring itself gives a deep warmth, doesn’t it? When I looked up Japan’s top radioactive spring, Misasa Onsen came up, so it must be really good. It seems good for hot spring therapy too. Oh, really? Hot spring towns have such beautiful streets. Beautiful.
It was a hot spring that makes you want to go again. Looking forward to tomorrow’s Kawayu Onsen. Exciting! Thank you for today. You always make it for us. Thanks. It’s Churu. Dual-wielding? Bota, over here. Chibi. While giving it to Chibi. Is it open? It’s not open. Starting with Chibi. Is it delicious?
You’re so eager. Bota is patiently waiting. Good job. Well done, Chibi. Next is Bota. Sorry for the wait. Chibi is watching intensely. I wonder how people with multiple pets handle giving treats. It always seems that one pet gets more attention. The end. You both did great. That’s a wrap. Chibi: “Mom…”
Chibi: “I don’t want to brush my teeth…” We’ll do it later for Bota. Good boy, good boy. OK. You were good, Chibi. Bota: “Fooled.” Well-behaved. Ever been sandwiched by cushions like this? Chibi… Getting sleepy, huh? Let’s sleep. Before sleeping, we’ll go to the last toilet break. It’s not as cold as I thought.
It’s not below freezing. I’ll lift all the mats and make the bed. I want to have a foot bath tomorrow morning. A foot bath? But we take a morning bath, right? Yeah, we do, but… I want to have a foot bath right after waking up to improve blood circulation. Oh, I see.
It’s close to a foot bath. Certainly. Let’s do it. Let’s. That feels good. I get excited thinking about taking a bath in the morning again tomorrow. Happy. Misasa Onsen is really wonderful. I’ve grown to love it. Let’s sleep. Good night. Thank you. The remote is here. Thank you. Good night. Next morning Yuta-san.
Yeah? Get up… I’m awake. I want a hug, Botachan. Botachan, hug. Really? Botachan gets grumpy if you don’t hug him when he wakes up. Sulky boy. Shall we go to the footbath? Let’s go to the footbath. You fell asleep again. Let’s go. Lately, I have bad bed hair. Your bed hair is terrible.
I’m wearing a hood. Good idea. Touching Chibi and Bota like this makes me sleepy. In other words… Is it their fault? Don’t blame others. Are you getting up? Chibi-chan is awake too. It’s warm. Good morning. How about the footbath wake-up? It’s a really good wake-up. Feels great. Warms body and soul. Feels good.
Am I the first one? Please. Staff: “Have you used our facility before?” First time. Staff: “Is it your first time using the baths?” Staff: “The water is hot, around 45°C.” Staff: “Gradually acclimate your body starting from your feet with some splash water before getting in.”
Staff: “Also, try not to soak for too long. It’s hot.” Thank you. The weather has become so nice! Beautiful, fantastic! Totally satisfied. There wasn’t a hairdryer. Forgot there was no hairdryer. Have to go back to the car and dry off. Try not to get too cold.
Want to drink some hot spring water on the way back? Let’s drink on the way back. Hot spring, huh? Same taste as yesterday’s? Wasn’t yesterday’s easier to drink? Slightly different, maybe? Two Yogurt Butter Sandwiches to go, please. Thank you. OK, it’s done. Looks delicious. Amazing, you did it. Got a little burnt, though.
But that’s what makes it tasty. It’s warm and incredibly comfortable. Starting to feel sleepy. Let’s eat. Thank you, let’s dig in. Thanks for this soy sauce dip. Delicious! Tasty. The moment it enters your mouth, the deliciousness spreads. Delicious mochi. It’s really delicious, this mochi.
It feels good to be able to make mochi like this. It’s soft all the way through. How was Kubuyuh? It’s simple, right? It’s like, “We’re doing it with 45-degree hot water!” kind of thing. But, it’s still 45 degrees, and you slowly enter, and in the end, you go, “Juwa~” with that feeling.
Not exactly “Juwa~”, more like “Hot, hot, hot!” kind of feeling. It feels like it’s penetrating, you know. Around 45 degrees seems to be my limit. If it gets hotter than that, it would be tough. I think the last time I had a bath around 45 degrees was in Nozawa Onsen in Nagano.
There aren’t many baths at that temperature, even in hot spring resorts. They adjust it to a familiar temperature. Still, it’s nice to take a bath that’s warm like that. If you want to enjoy Misasa Onsen economically, then Kubuyuh is the way to go.
Because it’s like a public bath with locations, open-air baths, and facilities. There were no shampoo, conditioner, or dryers. If you need those, it’s more like a hotel, isn’t it? So, the people here are those who stopped by and locals, right? Everyone in this town is very friendly.
Wherever we go, people approach us and strike up conversations. Even when we just passed each other in the parking lot earlier, they asked, “Where are you from?” “Did you enjoy Misasa Onsen?” “Please be careful on your way back.” Even though we just passed each other, they were incredibly kind.
The people at the tourist information center were also really nice. The staff at the counter is important. Just that can make it a good hot spring resort. Ryochan, is an iced café au lait okay? Iced café au lait is good! Drinking something cold in this warm place is nice. That’s luxurious.
Even when I go to cafes in winter, I order iced café au lait. Is that so? Certainly, that might be true. Sounds good. Delicious. Thank you. Can I try it first? Sure, go ahead. Delicious. It’s amazing that you can drink this café au lait even in the car. Yuta-san, coffee? Coffee. Today?
Is it the one we bought in Okayama? Is it bold or light? Bold! Nice aroma. I can smell it from here. Nice. Yeah, the aroma of this coffee is nice. The sweets we bought earlier. The logo is cute. They looked delicious, right? Somehow, you can read it as “Misa-sa,” right, this logo?
Indeed, indeed, you can read it. I was looking at it, thinking it’s a very stylish logo. Yogurt butter sandwich cookies look delicious. Thank you. No, thank you. Looks delicious. It’s a waste to eat. It’s a waste to eat and drink. Let’s eat. For sure. Well blended? Firmly bitter. It has a punch.
I don’t drink coffee, so the taste is different, right? No, no. It’s completely different. Oh, is that so? Looks delicious. Like this. Delicious. As expected, with only yogurt, it’s not too sweet. Light. But the cookie gets sweet later and it’s delicious. The cream inside is very light. It disappears with a “shh.” Delicious.
Glad we bought it. It’s delicious. Thank you for watching until the end.
