OUR FIRST TIME IN HONG KONG (it blew our minds!) šŸ‡šŸ‡°

All right starting our video off today with someĀ  famous Hong kongers because there’s a big statueĀ Ā  of Bruce Lee back there doing a Kung Fu poseĀ  as well as the handprints on the railing hereĀ Ā  of Jet Lee who you’ve probably also seen inĀ  some action movies and of course I think theĀ Ā

Most famous Hong konger of all is Jackie Chan notĀ  to be confused with Jackie Chun because I guess IĀ Ā  saw the wrong handprints first and I thoughtĀ  oh my gosh I’ve been spelling his name wrongĀ Ā

My whole life but in fact there are two famousĀ  Hong kongers Jackie Chan as well as Jackie tunĀ Ā  so at any rate come along with us as we exploreĀ  Hong Kong today for the first time we wanted toĀ Ā

Start our video down on this really fantastic uhĀ  Boardwalk here because it gives you a good senseĀ Ā  and a good first impression of Hong Kong for oneĀ  from here you can see just how modern this cityĀ Ā  is because there are so many beautiful buildingsĀ  all around there’s already already been five orĀ Ā

Six that have caught my attention and for two youĀ  can really see how densely populated Hong Kong isĀ Ā  from this Boardwalk because if you look acrossĀ  the water here it’s basically 360° all around meĀ Ā  there are tall buildings shoulder Tosh shoulderĀ  and so you’ll see how many people are crammedĀ Ā

Into this tiny spot and yet you’ll also see howĀ  clean it is here because certainly the boardwalkĀ Ā  has no graffiti and no litter and no vandalismĀ  and it’s very wellmaintained but also I’ve beenĀ Ā  really impressed with the color of the waterĀ  because I’ve been calling this Waterway a riverĀ Ā

I guess I’ve been corrected it is also a harborĀ  which typically to me means kind of brown WaterĀ Ā  kind of smelly maybe a fish smell but the way theĀ  water is glistening in the sun it’s almost like aĀ Ā

Caribbean Blue and so it’s quite beautiful to lookĀ  at and the sun really is shining today because itĀ Ā  is the end of December now so you can see a bunchĀ  of Christmas decorations around but I guess theĀ Ā

High today will be 21° so the sun is shining theĀ  water looks great and the city is all around usĀ Ā  and we’re sort of excited to explore Hong KongĀ  for the first time so uh let’s go come along with

Us so my mom has been here a long time ago likeĀ  back in the ’90s and being from Indonesia weĀ Ā  always see Hong Kong as this modern andĀ  advanced place and in fact there is freeĀ Ā  public Wi-Fi available everywhere includingĀ  here in this open space so every time you useĀ Ā

Free public Wi-Fi a suggest you to use VPNĀ  I have been using surf shock VPN ever sinceĀ Ā  our Facebook account got hacked and I can’tĀ  even gain access or even delete my FacebookĀ Ā  page until now the worst part was that my bankĀ  account was linked to my Facebook account andĀ Ā

Guess what the hacker did a lot of shoppingĀ  and we lost a lot of money because of that soĀ Ā  lesson learn we now have VPN which acts likeĀ  a wall preventing anyone from Gaining accessĀ Ā  to our personal information and I know many ofĀ  you guys do online shopping so I would highlyĀ Ā

Recommend using VPN VPN can also virtually changeĀ  the location of your device to basically anywhereĀ Ā  in the world and sometimes you can get cheaperĀ  and better deal online depending on the countryĀ Ā  you shop from for example booking a rentalĀ  car from Czech Republic will be cheaper thanĀ Ā

Booking from Australia all you need to do isĀ  change the location of your device using PPNĀ Ā  and with just the cost of a cup of coffee youĀ  can protect your yourself and save money getĀ Ā  an exclusive surf Shar holiday deal rightĀ  now check the link on our description andĀ Ā

Enter the promo code jet famam to get up toĀ  six additional months for free there is noĀ Ā  risk in trying Surf Shack with 30-day money backĀ  guarantee thanks s Shack for sponsoring today’s video all right and so we’ve left the big andĀ  spacious and quiet boardwalk and we are nowĀ Ā

Walking through our neighborhood actually whichĀ  is called cowon and it is in the city centerĀ Ā  so one thing you’ll have to get used to hereĀ  in Hong Kong especially if you’re staying inĀ Ā  the city center is the amount of foot trafficĀ  because Hong Kong I believe is top five in theĀ Ā

Entire world of population density so there’sĀ  an incredible amount of people living here andĀ Ā  a foot path like this is not too uncommon inĀ  fact it’s pretty typical for the city centerĀ Ā  um I’ve had experience before where I’ve bumpedĀ  into to someone had to apologize but I’ve alsoĀ Ā

Had experiences where someone has bumed into meĀ  so everyone’s pretty understanding and forgivingĀ Ā  and apologetic but uh it is a really tightĀ  place and certain street corners are likeĀ Ā  shoulder-to-shoulder with hundreds and hundredsĀ  of people so at any rate let’s do a City walkĀ Ā

Here on our way towards a local market and we’llĀ  see what we can see in the city center of Hong Kong wow I love the Big TreesĀ  here feels like I’m in a cityĀ Ā  center but I’m also in a jungleĀ  with all the vines hanging just

Awesome and so Ivon and I were just inĀ  changhai last week and naturally there’s aĀ Ā  lot of similarities from Hong Kong to ShanghaiĀ  but I think you can feel here that it used toĀ Ā  be a British colony because for one the streetĀ  names are very familiar it’s like Nathan RoadĀ Ā

Or Cameron Avenue or Kennedy or Prince EdwardĀ  a lot of the same street names we have in myĀ Ā  city of Toronto actually we’ve even seen dundĀ  Street and for two I think there’s a lot moreĀ Ā  multiculturalism Happening Here in Hong Kong soĀ  we’ve seen a lot more white people which I guessĀ Ā

Is remnants of the British era and even seen aĀ  lot of South Asian people um which I guess wereĀ Ā  brought over here by the British because of uhĀ  British India and so there’s mosques and there’sĀ Ā  even guys wearing shell War cames which is theĀ  traditional Pakistani outfit that we saw a lotĀ Ā

Of in Pakistan and I tell you what this has gotĀ  to be one of my favorite things about Hong KongĀ Ā  right now obviously there’s so much populationĀ  density there’s so much development and thereĀ Ā  are tall buildings all around and yet to thisĀ  day they are sticking with the bamboo scaffoldĀ Ā

I mean it’s unbelievable this building is 20Ā  stories high and I’ve even seen some that areĀ Ā  I’m not kidding like 30 or 40 stories high andĀ  the whole thing is held together when they’reĀ Ā  building it with bamboo and these plastic tiesĀ  massive respect to the people who are climbingĀ Ā

Up and tying it all together I’m sure the peopleĀ  of Hong Kong know about Metal scaffolding thatĀ Ā  we use in Canada or lots of countries butĀ  they’re sticking with the bamboo it’s suchĀ Ā  a nice thing to see because it’s like motherĀ  nature does it best you know it’s cheap it’sĀ Ā

Thin and strong and flexible and it grows rightĀ  from the ground shout out to Bamboo scaving on a skyscraper yes is it this one you have pineappleĀ  bun tourist only had a $500 bill that’s all theĀ Ā

ATM gave me all right we got a classic pineappleĀ  but and egg tart oh gosh D and money it’s funnyĀ Ā  because in Hong Kong they call it dollarsĀ  oh yeah so it always throws me off becauseĀ Ā  uh the price is actually fair but when youĀ  buy something it could be like $100 you’reĀ Ā

Like $100 but it it conver convert likeĀ  $7 all right got our breakfast so thisĀ Ā  is a classic Hong Kong food I think it’s one ofĀ  the most famous ones yes they call it pineappleĀ Ā  bun yeah so it looks just like a regularĀ  bread with some sugar chopping on maybeĀ Ā

It’s good will there be a pineapple insideĀ  it is the shape of a pineapple like a slice inside tastes like pineapple on top I think yeahĀ Ā  sugary pineapple I don’t know maybeĀ  pineapple jam I have no idea but it’s

Good for me it’s good but I’m sorry toĀ  say nothing special I thought you wereĀ Ā  going to say that just is it bread is itĀ  like warm and fresh and tastes like it’sĀ Ā  it’s just regular bread bread regular breadĀ  with sugar on top that tastes a little bitĀ Ā

Like pineapple okay maybe you can redeem itĀ  with this egg tart it’s cheap and it’s a goodĀ Ā  food to go you know maybe you can redeemĀ  it with this egg tart which I’m going toĀ Ā  say reminds me of Portuguese egg tart yeahĀ  that’s right and this I mean how can this beĀ Ā

Bad this is going to definitely be it’sĀ  very shiny listening like a pie hard to eat that’s the one this one is like very crispy and then insideĀ  it’s like custard so five starsĀ Ā  for me five stars this is good IĀ  like this there you have it okayĀ Ā

You heard it here first guys Ivana saidĀ  it pineapple bun overrated sorry how many stars it’s not bad but good quick food it’s notĀ  great for eight bucks can’t go wrong that’s aĀ Ā  American dollar cost is very good but it’sĀ  alarming right you look at it you go $8 no noĀ Ā

No that’s one1 American dollar right yes yes thisĀ  is another thing they love to do in Hong Kong theyĀ Ā  love to write which way the traffic is coming onĀ  the road I guess it’s evidence that there’s noĀ Ā

Snow here in Hong Kong because in Toronto thisĀ  would be useless for like 4 months of the yearĀ Ā  covered in snow true true and so I guess it’s alsoĀ  evidence that uh there’s a lot of one-way streetsĀ Ā

Because it seems like half the roads say look leftĀ  and half some them say look right and so from aĀ Ā  tourist perspective it’s sort of helpful becauseĀ  uh that’s thing I want to do is be talking to theĀ Ā

GoPro and get hit by a bus so I just look at theĀ  ground and then I know where to look it’s sort of helpful and so I’m going to say this but thisĀ  might be the stupidest thing anyone’s ever saidĀ Ā

This taxi is all over Hong Kong there anotherĀ  one going over here and for some reason for meĀ Ā  it just looks British I mean for one I’ve neverĀ  been to Britain so how would I know and for twoĀ Ā

It’s definitely a Toyota which is JapaneseĀ  not British but when I see this taxi I thinkĀ Ā  it looks British and I don’t even know why but atĀ  any rate they’re consistently cheaper than UberĀ Ā  and so we’ve taken them more than a few times theyĀ  always use the meter trustworthy and good I wouldĀ Ā

Recommend the quazy British looking I like theĀ  color taxi red and white color scheme always orĀ Ā  red and silver actually and so you can add HongĀ  Kong to the list of cities that Ivon and I haveĀ Ā  seen recently where we really enjoyed the CityĀ  walk because we’re quite impressed by just howĀ Ā

Well things are run I’m thinking of SingaporeĀ  and then Shanghai and then Hong Kong those areĀ Ā  three cities we’ve seen in the past months andĀ  all of them are great places for a City Walk IĀ Ā  guess what makes Hong Kong more unique is it looksĀ  like Hong Kong was developed maybe a generationĀ Ā

Or two before those other places because someĀ  of the buildings are relatively rund down andĀ Ā  they sort of look like they could use a FreshĀ  coat of paint and so to put a positive spinĀ Ā  on it I would say I think Hong Kong has moreĀ  character than other places because it looksĀ Ā

Like the buildings have seen a few Winters andĀ  even the foot path is the same we’ve seen manyĀ Ā  people cleaning the foot path it’s very clean andĀ  very wellmaintained but it does look like it wasĀ Ā

Put down uh many hundreds of thousands of stepsĀ  ago and so it’s uh been used and sort of wornĀ Ā  in but still very impressive and clean and so inĀ  any case uh you can add Hong Kong to the list ofĀ Ā

Cities that for a CityWalk is just great becauseĀ  feels like you can wander anywhere you want andĀ Ā  you won’t end up in some sort of broken dirtyĀ  uh homelessness drug addicted place where it’sĀ Ā  unsafe uh but with that being said this is anĀ  interesting thing to see look at that becauseĀ Ā

This is why Ivana says Hong Kong feels a bitĀ  like where East Asia meets southeast Asia cuzĀ Ā  this kind of night market here is very familiarĀ  to Jakarta or Thailand or anywhere in SoutheastĀ Ā  Asia and so it’s sort of interesting that it’sĀ  tucked away inside this really modern and reallyĀ Ā

Quite impressive City so let’s go check outĀ  the market honestly I might buy sunglassesĀ Ā  I didn’t bring my sunglasses today they’reĀ  in the house because I thought it was winterĀ Ā  time 21° the weather’s so good so uh let’s goĀ  browse the market and see what we can see let’s

Go and so I sort of expected these supports toĀ  be made from bamboo I’m kind of disappointedĀ Ā  that they’re made from metal actually butĀ  of course some uh Bruce Lee shirts iHeartĀ Ā  HK and actually a lot of these stalls areĀ  sort of similar to what we’ve seen in HongĀ Ā

Kong so far they’re pretty narrow stallsĀ  and pretty tall so it sort of speaks toĀ Ā  this kind of vertical build that HongĀ  Kong has because of the uh populationĀ Ā  density and they’re so tightly packed allĀ  the shop shops they’re really maximizing the space they look like ladies they look like ladiesĀ Ā

Right yeah maybe this is not theĀ  right market for sunglasses oh over here you know what I’m thinking you what thisĀ  is a scenario where we got to negotiate theĀ Ā  price yes I think so maybe we’ll just go homeĀ  and get mine I’m going to get scanned for sureĀ Ā

I’m going to overpay I Know It All right so theĀ  sunglasses hunt was a bit of a fail nonethelessĀ Ā  it’s an pretty action-packed Market with lots ofĀ  stuff around so it’s a good experience and so nextĀ Ā

We’re going to head up to the peak which shouldĀ  hopefully provide a really good view of Hong KongĀ Ā  and for that we have to cross the water and go onĀ  to Hong Kong Island which first means going on theĀ Ā

Metro which actually sometimes here in Hong KongĀ  they call Subway yes I’ve seen signs saying SubwayĀ Ā  which is very familiar to me I’ve sort of learnedĀ  to not say subway anymore because most peopleĀ Ā  in the world when they think Subway they thinkĀ  sandwiches when they think train they think MetroĀ Ā

Uh nevertheless they call it Subway sometimes hereĀ  in Hong Kong and we’re about to get on it so let’sĀ Ā  go all right so we’ll get on here at Mong coockĀ  station which I guess is part of the red line andĀ Ā

Again sort of the same thing I was saying earlierĀ  uh clearly a nice Metro perfectly clean but youĀ Ā  can tell by the tiles it’s a little bit older soĀ  it’s still impressive but it’s not brand new uhĀ Ā

Like Shanghai or Singapore while still being veryĀ  impressive and uh quite robust as you’ll see whenĀ Ā  we show you the map here to be honest it remindsĀ  me of Toronto subway it reminds me of TorontoĀ Ā

Subway if Toronto subway was cleaner and betterĀ  oh yeah if it was properly run you know it’s likeĀ Ā  it’s like Toronto subway especially cuz the redĀ  and white is the same color as TTC but it’s likeĀ Ā

Toronto subway if the Toronto subway were properlyĀ  managed I think and so the first thing we’ll doĀ Ā  is we’ll buy some tickets which we can just clickĀ  on that map we want to go to Central which should

Be here click there boom got it oh and then weĀ  can go multiple two two 30 bucks which sounds likeĀ Ā  a lot but with conversion it’s quite affordableĀ  that’s right come on change yeah oh $10 bill okayĀ Ā

There’s a $10 coin and a $10 bill by the way IĀ  love it because it’s a so colorful blue and purpleĀ Ā  and pink yeah and plastic too probably waterproofĀ  come on plastic money okay let’s go let’s [Music] [Music] goine line two line your attentionĀ  please eating or drinking is not allowedĀ Ā

In the paid areas of stations or in trains ohĀ  look at that there’s a line right there we’reĀ Ā  still going down I think there’s a green lineĀ  here so I think there’s actually three linesĀ Ā  connected here there’s a one the two and the fourĀ  I believe yeah quite deep actually my ears just

Popped and like I said guys it’s surprisinglyĀ  clean it might not be brand new but it is uhĀ Ā  perfectly maintained no garbage no litterĀ  no vandalism almost lost my wife there jeez pretty crowded what time is it now like 2:00Ā  p.m. 1 something W even at 1: p.m. is this fullĀ Ā

Bet your rush hour is even more so I mean that’sĀ  pretty full for 1: p.m. and so here’s the fullĀ Ā  metro map you can see it’s pretty darn robustĀ  especially for a city of only 7 million peopleĀ Ā

It’s got a lot of lines wi in every directionĀ  and it’s impressive that so many of the linesĀ Ā  cross over the water in fact right now as we’reĀ  in this tunnel we might be in a Tunnel underwaterĀ Ā

I’m not sure I didn’t see a bridge but I knowĀ  for sure we are going to Hong Kong Island whichĀ Ā  means we’re on that Red Line crossing the waterĀ  uh not sure if there’s a tunnel underneath theĀ Ā

Water which would be super aggressive for toĀ  the bridge but at any rate I think a lot ofĀ Ā  Hong Kong residents rely on the train everyĀ  day is affordable and it’s full of people asĀ Ā  you can see and actually it’s surprisinglyĀ  windy in here no yeah it’s colder here thanĀ Ā

Outside it’s way colder in here hey good thing IĀ  brought my winter hat it’s cold in here [Music] Man and so overall Hong Kong Metro is veryĀ  impressive and pretty great and ifon and IĀ Ā  are pretty sure we just took a tonel underwaterĀ  because we’re definitely on the island now andĀ Ā  we didn’t take a bridge and we were undergroundĀ  in the cold for like a long stretch yeah whichĀ Ā

Is doubly impressive I have no idea how toĀ  build a tunnel underwat what I can tell youĀ Ā  is if they use those bamboo sticks to buildĀ  a tunnel under water the greatest engineersĀ Ā

In the whole world uh at any rate let’s go findĀ  the tram which take us up to the top called theĀ Ā  peak I’m a bit lost there’s I think there’sĀ  four lines over here maybe five it’s a bigĀ Ā

Subway trouble is when you’re underground theĀ  GPS doesn’t work great so you want to figureĀ Ā  out which exit to go to there’s exit ABCDEĀ  e FG h k up to L just what is that 15 exitsĀ Ā

So there’s walking paths going every directionĀ  and we can’t figure out which one to go on cuzĀ Ā  the GPS no good underground all right let’sĀ  try to go up go up top and get the GPS yes

Exactly all right so I think we’re on the rightĀ  track peak train that way but before we even getĀ Ā  that far my first impressions of Hong KongĀ  Island is like oh my gosh what a nice placeĀ Ā  everywhere you look it’s awesome nice mix ofĀ  greenery with tall buildings and uh reallyĀ Ā

Beautiful architecture I’m impressed with HongĀ  Kong Island this building here is uh somethingĀ Ā  special actually you know what this is this hasĀ  got to be the headquarters of uh aquina likeĀ Ā  the sa water right look like a sixpack of waterĀ  with a tight plastic squeezed on it isn’t it coolĀ Ā

Looking building man oh my gosh I was impressedĀ  with the Hong Kong CityWalk or Hong Kong IslandĀ Ā  CityWalk it’s not to be forgotten first of allĀ  tons of big trees here huge Cathedral equippedĀ Ā  with bamboo supports for renovation which I loveĀ  and so many great looking buildings uh big fanĀ Ā

Of of the CityWalk here in Hong Kong Island IĀ  tell you what thank goodness for these signsĀ Ā  that are everywhere we wander we’ve alreadyĀ  seen three or four that say Peak trim becauseĀ Ā  we are truly wering Ivana and I we are likeĀ  classic tourists looking up in amazement atĀ Ā

Everything and yet somehow we’re still not lostĀ  so I think we’re almost at the tram let’s checkĀ Ā  it out this has got to be the place Iana theĀ  Peak Tram let’s check it out must be here oh my

Popular all right so a bit of a museum as weĀ  were waiting in line which was pretty great andĀ Ā  made the weight enjoyable although to be clearĀ  the weight was pretty quick uh probably 100 orĀ Ā

200 people in front of us but uh the line movedĀ  very quickly because I guess every tram holds 120Ā Ā  people now to pay for the ticket we actually putĀ  our Visa card right on the counter and the tap toĀ Ā

Pay is right on the counter which in hindsight isĀ  not that impressive technology just move the tapĀ Ā  payment underneath the counter but at the momentĀ  when it happened I was like wow so impressiveĀ Ā  first time we saw it first time I saw that whereĀ  they counter is the payment uh nevertheless let’sĀ Ā

Get on the train actually it feels like we’reĀ  going to spaceship somehow futuristic tunnelĀ Ā  here know yeah we make it on this trend think so IĀ  think so think we can it holds like 100 something

People now we got a choice to make want sayĀ  on this side or on that side cold side orĀ Ā  for side at this point I think we’ll see why weĀ  get where is the view going to be better is the question good I’m excited forĀ  this and I love the trim withĀ Ā

The glass on the ceiling and on bothĀ  sides it’s going to be a beautiful view think we’re waving atĀ  strangers yeah every’s having fun That’s it minutes I think it’s less than 5 minutesĀ  I think it was 2 minutes and we got the wrongĀ Ā  side that’s the good side yeah all right so I’mĀ  going to go ahead and say this and I’m sure allĀ Ā

Of the locals from Hong Kong who are watchingĀ  this video already know this but that tram isĀ Ā  overpriced overcrowded and overrated but listenĀ  I’m over it because we’ve made it to the peakĀ Ā

Which is a pretty special place I guess the tramĀ  sets you out in sort of like a mall which has gotĀ Ā  some beautiful decorations and some stores allĀ  around but outside of the mall there’s a bunchĀ Ā  of really great buildings and viewpointsĀ  and it’s a really great place for touristsĀ Ā

And locals alike to hang out and sort of admireĀ  the beauty of Hong Kong so let’s check out the Peak and so in the end Ivana and I are not tooĀ  disappointed that we took the TR because it isĀ Ā  a tourist experience and we figured we would tryĀ  it once but the thing is whether you take a taxiĀ Ā

To get up here or whether you take a small hikeĀ  and go by foot the views are so good from theĀ Ā  peak that we didn’t think it was necessary soĀ  in the end Ivan and I poked our nose around theĀ Ā

Peak and we saw a bunch of malls and things forĀ  sale and I guess the sort of crown jeel is thisĀ Ā  building here which now that I think of it sortĀ  of looks like the Marina Bay Hotel in SingaporeĀ Ā

And it is a Viewpoint that costs I think aboutĀ  $10 Amic per person for people to see but butĀ Ā  because we had such good views from all around theĀ  peak we decided to skip it because like I said theĀ Ā

Views are so good from all around the peak and theĀ  more you look at Hong Kong it sort of reminds meĀ Ā  in a different sort of way of Rio De JaneiroĀ  because it’s got these big green sort of notĀ Ā

Mountains but big boulders poking up with all theĀ  big buildings in between and some really beautifulĀ Ā  bays and inlets and water everywhere obviouslyĀ  Rio is tropical and different but uh as you guysĀ Ā  know I’ve said before Rio de Janeiro is the mostĀ  beautiful big city in the world true so when IĀ Ā

Say Hong Kong looks sort of like real what I’mĀ  saying is Hong Kong is very beautiful also it isĀ Ā  the Skyland is gorgeous with all the skyscrapersĀ  it’s just beautiful very nice and the water is soĀ Ā  surprisingly blue that it’s uh really somethingĀ  special and so Ivon and I have elected to takeĀ Ā

The hike which I don’t think it’s very long lessĀ  less than an hour on the way down and so we’llĀ Ā  see if we can get some more views as we uh enjoyĀ  Hong Kong from the sky so come along with us andĀ Ā

Hopefully on the hike we can burn some caloriesĀ  and free up some space because I’m getting hungryĀ Ā  and maybe we will go for lunch at the bottomĀ  yes I should say dinner at the bottom yeah let’s

Go I tell you what huge fan of the hike down fromĀ  the peak I really can’t say enough of the viewsĀ Ā  obviously we’re on our way down but somehowĀ  the views are getting better and better andĀ Ā

It’s such a different perspective of Hong KongĀ  than from in the city CU when you’re down thereĀ Ā  at ground level feels like the concrete jungleĀ  goes on forever and it’s just endless buildingsĀ Ā  but from up here you can see a whole lot ofĀ  green space and in fact there are more thanĀ Ā

120 Islands in Hong Kong and from up here itĀ  gives you a total different vantage point ofĀ Ā  all the green sort of Hills all around uh quiteĀ  a beautiful place I’m really falling in love withĀ Ā

Hong Kong but I am getting very hungry so let’sĀ  hurry up on this hike and get some [Music] foodĀ Ā  wild Bo sped yeah so cute right there on the PĀ  wow wild Boors yo should I be S scared of thisĀ Ā

I don’t know I I’m not scared but they chargeĀ  me I will scream and run I think maybe they’reĀ Ā  used to human maybe I don’t know wow what doĀ  wild boys eat like ants and stuff like wormsĀ Ā

I know leaves I got no idea he found a big pieceĀ  of meat from the garbage wow he’s in heaven rightĀ Ā  now my goodness now right now I guess now we knowĀ  what they eat they eat they eat cow legs straightĀ Ā

From the butcher they made por here it’s got toĀ  be 300 bucks of meat right there no who put thatĀ Ā  there my goodness look at this WOW his friends areĀ  never going to believe him I know and he’s alone IĀ Ā

Found a whole G alone sure you did Buddy normallyĀ  they come in like 10 they come in a group but he’s Alone all right we are going to take whatĀ  it’s called the central midlevel escalatorĀ Ā  but going down there’s no escalator I thinkĀ  it’s only for going up Steve there’s one forĀ Ā  going up but nothing for going down okayĀ  it is supposed to be the longest outdoorĀ Ā

Escalator in the world but we were hopingĀ  they would have escalator to go down tooĀ Ā  well sorry to disappoint you we just at likeĀ  an hour hiking or something from the peak IĀ Ā  got noodle legs all right now hopefully we willĀ  make it to our dinner all the Mitchell and God

Winner it’s funny e melling is a tire guy yeahĀ  I don’t know how it started I think the ideaĀ Ā  is like it’s worth driving for or something likeĀ  this I don’t know how it started but anyway I’mĀ Ā

So hungry let’s eat let eat at a Michelin starĀ  restaurant our first time yo the Food comes soĀ Ā  fast so fast I guess because they got aĀ  small menu they can make it very quicklyĀ Ā  yeah only noodles that’s their only thing itĀ  looks so good actually a little bit of spice

Yes we’ve been hungry we’ve been hungryĀ  yeah the bowl is a little bit small trueĀ Ā  fact yeah but just looks good yeah not exactlyĀ  a cold day but a long day so we’re ready to eat what you got there wantonĀ  and verelli oh my gosh table

Wanton uh shrim shrim shrim one it’s okay it’sĀ  not 5 minutes it’s good the shm t is good yeahĀ Ā  pretty good I would give it maybe four outĀ  of five four stars yeah it’s a melin storeĀ Ā  well you got high standards you want stillĀ  good though I like it it’s um the wantonĀ Ā

Itself is quite plump and juicy so I like thatĀ  but the noodles there’s nothing special aboutĀ Ā  the noodles I don’t know if it’s handmade orĀ  anything and the broad is quite good so um IĀ Ā  will give five stars for for the broth and theĀ  won but four stars for you’re a Critic IvanaĀ Ā

You’re a hard hard one to please man it’s goodĀ  though we were so hungry yeah let’s eat man let’s eat good honestly it’s good but what’s up with theĀ  Michigan stares we had some at some random placeĀ Ā

A couple days ago random little shop with yellowĀ  tables remember right I think was better overĀ Ā  there wow yeah I’m not sure yeah how do you getĀ  the Michelin start I’m so curious it might justĀ Ā

Be marketing to be clear it’s good food but whenĀ  I heard Michelin star I thought my head it wasĀ Ā  going to Expos now let me end the video by doingĀ  five things I noticed okay rapid fire one a lotĀ Ā

Of really good-looking dogs in Hong Kong oh yeahĀ  I think Hong Kong people are good dog owners yesĀ Ā  I think so two I think Hong Kong people are theĀ  best in the world at lining up TR place there wasĀ Ā

Like an open area where there could have been aĀ  big mob and automatically people just made fourĀ Ā  lines right also we went to the ATM perfectlyĀ  formed line true three Hong Kong weather I thinkĀ Ā  it’s the goldilock Zone Shanghai is too coldĀ  Singapore is too hot Hong Kong is just rightĀ Ā

Uh four Hong people so exercising jogging up theĀ  hills honestly walking on these Hills is so tiringĀ Ā  especially downhill because your foot slides inĀ  the front of your shoe and my toes are hurtingĀ Ā  yes Hong Kong people are running around the hillsĀ  they’re in good shape suggestion they should buildĀ Ā

An escalator to go down to the world’s longestĀ  escalator is still pretty impressive but it’s onlyĀ Ā  going up uh and then overall honestly I I thinkĀ  I fell in love with Hong Kong yes place a goodĀ Ā

Balance of east and west and also a good balanceĀ  of uh just City Life and also nature yeah and alsoĀ Ā  it’s very fancy and clean but still feels moreĀ  real I can live here right right right SingaporeĀ Ā

It’s like you can’t do anything wrong or ShanghaiĀ  It Feels So Perfect it’s like don’t even fart orĀ Ā  anything he got characters here more vintage moreĀ  character but also modern and very POS at theĀ Ā

Our First time in Hong Kong!
Hong Kong is a special administrative region of China.
We walked our way from Avenue of Stars overlooking Victoria Harbour, all the way to a traditional market called the Ladies Market in Kowloon. Then we took the subway to go to Hong Kong Island, and to Victoria Peak. We knew that Hong Kong is a concrete jungle, with the most skyscrapers in the world. But we did not expect it to be so green! we were pleasantly surprised by the view from The Peak. We also tasted some popular food from Hong Kong like pineapple bun, egg tarts, and even went to a Michelin star restaurant for some wonton noodle. Check out our first impressions of Hong Kong.

We ate at Tsim Chai Kee Restaurant (Michelin Star)
Don’t do what we did…standing in line to buy the tram ticket. Instead, buy your Victoria Peak tram ticket online , and skip the line: https://affiliate.klook.com/redirect?aid=47520&aff_adid=791190&k_site=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.klook.com%2Fen-HK%2Factivity%2F765-peak-tram-sky-terrace-hongkong%2F

  1. You think people get off work at 5:20pm? LOL. They're more likely getting a snack before working overtime. It's common for people to leave after 7pm. Many people work late into the night. I have even worked 20 hour days!

  2. Enjoy your trip, we have been following Reporterfy Media-Cyrus Janssen. CGTN The Point-Hub-Heat journalists are amazing… Poverty alleviation completed in China now Modernization-BRI-BRICS

  3. Somehow YouTube recommended this video to me and as a HKPR here it is nice to see your perspectives of my beloved city. Both of you are such lovely travellers with a positive mindset and I like it that both of you are just very open-minded about everything. And yes the Peak Tram is definitely overpriced and overcrowded haha. I live in mid-levels and I exercise to the peak with proper shoes, sorry that your foot is hurting! HK is just a very chaotic city full of contradictions and that’s what I love about this city. And yes, the Michelin Wanton Mee you ate is just average really šŸ˜‚. Come back HK soon!

  4. Hong Kong was a British colony up until 1997, hence the taxis and other Western features

  5. At 9.07 you are passing the Prudential hotel and shopping arcade on Nathan Rd Kowloon. Once on this sight stood the childhood home of Bruce Lee, his Dad owned a couple of properties.

  6. Fun fact, the Hong Kong MTR operates the fastest escalators at 0.8m/s for a transit system anywhere in the world.

  7. The escalator would go down in morning rush hours for residents at the mid-levels to go to work, and the other way otherwise.

  8. The Pineapple bun does not have any pineapple in it, is just the name, and if you go to a local cafe, they serve you with thick butter with it and then it taste better, someones they put other stuff in it

  9. Thank you for visiting our amazing city! And just an fyi, the Mid-Levels escalator does actually travel downwards but only in the mornings from 6am to transfer residents to Central. Just before 10am they get switched to the opposite direction to carry passengers back uphill till Midnight.

  10. berapa hari di HK, Ivana? kalau mau beli Pinapple Bun, jangan di kota, ga enak haha. beli lepas Yau Ma Tie ke utara jg uda enak kok. Best in Asia mungkin. waktu itu aku beli di Tsim Tsa Chui jg ga enak, aku buang. di kota emg kurang enak.

  11. Love Hong Kong! Spent 18 years there. Most favourite place on earth despite the British opium government… I wish we had democracy before 1997 to push he Brit Governor out and his dictatorship.

  12. Michelin Stars was created by the tire company to encourage people to drive to different spots so that they will use more tires, creating demand for the company.

  13. The peak tram is on it's 6th generation, even just a few years ago the cars were comparatively more crowded and cramped than it is now. Go in the morning, when i went a few days ago, the tram was less than half full, and there was no queue. Prebuy the ticket online, it was only 112HKD for a round trip and sky terrace included. The views from the sky terrace are so much better than any "free" view outside, having experienced both. After living in HK for a while, it does lose it's appeal, there are pros and cons of living in big cities.

  14. Since I’m from the 852, ā€œsubwayā€ means underpass. A walking underpass. Not subway like metro…. Or sandwich.
U were prob around carnavon rd tst where there’s an underpass to get access to star ferry etc…. Or Ned Kelly’s. šŸ˜‚(if u know tst… u may appreciate that comment)

  15. (1) Pineapple Bun don't have any pineapple. It's only the skin like pineapple skin so name it as Pineapple Bun. (2) You should order "Pineapple Bun w/ Butter 菠č˜æę²¹". The most delicious & famous one is "Pineapple Bun w/ Butter 菠č˜æę²¹". Without butter it is tasteless.

  16. Welcome to HK, please come again and spread the good news about HK, we need more visitors especially westerners

  17. You have come in a very good season. Literally no rain and nice weather. Hope you guys enjoyed your trip

  18. As a Hong Konger, what I think you truly missed out on was Hong Kong’s nightlife. For example visiting Victoria dockside , the Peak by tram is truly a complete different experience at night. It is also known as how Hong Kong is a city that never sleeps. Going out the outdoor escalator at night in Soho or going to Lan Kwai Fong for a drink to experience Hong Kong’s nightlife culture would be an unforgettable experience.

  19. Hi, Mr Jetlag, I suggest you go to Lamma Island to walk around. Your video is reality and interesting. However, I want to ask the 呃 translate in Chinese may be not right, the word mean cheating. So…,some translate I cannot guess. Anyway welcome you come to Hongkong, hope both of u enjoy and have fun.

  20. As a Torontonian currently living in Hong Kong, I want to say this series of videos on Hong Kong are fantastic and hope you will be back in the future =)
