[ Trip vlog ]暮らすように旅する絶景・癒しの風景 | 丹沢湖・小田原のレトロ風景と古民家カフェ | Japan travel

After checking out of the inn, I was sent by shuttle bus, and when I arrived… I came to Lake Tanzawa, a famous spot for autumn leaves in Kanagawa. A short walk around the lake. There was an old Japanese house with a thatched roof. It seems to be a free rest area.

Let’s go up to the observation facility next door. Lake Tanzawa is an artificial lake created by a dam. You can enjoy scenery that is in harmony with nature throughout the four seasons, such as cherry blossoms in spring and colored leaves in autumn.

A walk along the lake. The autumn leaves are beautiful. But it’s a little windy on this day. There was a store so I stopped by. I never thought you could buy curls, which were only sold west of Kansai, here. At one point, we came to an area where the autumn leaves were spectacular.

The observation deck here seems to have a panoramic view of Lake Tanzawa, so I decided to climb it. Lake Tanzawa and Mt. Fuji. And a perfect view of the two bridges spanning the lake. This bench is a special seat for feeling nature. If you climb further up there is a second observation deck.

I thoroughly enjoyed the scenery that I will never get tired of seeing. There aren’t many buses on weekdays during the day, so I called a taxi. From here, we will change trains and head towards Odawara city. I arrived at Hakone Itabashi Station, one station next to Odawara Station.

This is a town along the old Tokaido road. There are still some townhouses that retain the vestiges of those days. I would like to visit the autumn foliage spots while feeling the history. While walking along the old Tokaido road, I discovered architecture that felt both historical and modern.

A famous fusion of Japanese and Western architecture built in the Meiji era, with features such as the “sea cucumber wall” and “stone arch” that can be seen on the top of the stone wall.

The Uchino residence, which has been brewing soy sauce for nearly 100 years, is registered as a national tangible cultural property. During the Meiji period, this area of Odawara attracted attention as one of the best resort areas in the country, and many villas and villas for important people were built there.

There are also places where you can take a look inside. This is also a mansion that was Aritomo Yamagata’s villa. It is also famous for its autumn leaves. Handwritten by Aritomo Yamagata. The south-facing room with a view of the garden receives very warm sunlight and allows time to pass slowly.

It is clear that the owner of this mansion loved elegance and preferred a garden that valued nature. I’ll take a look at the garden too… but the wind is strong! The next destination is also the site of a great man’s villa.

An art museum that displays the antique art collection of Yasuzaemon Matsunaga, a businessman known as the Electric Power King. There is also an old private house where you can admire the beautiful autumn leaves. A tea room created by the owner, who was also a famous tea master.

Touring quiet old folk houses in Itabashi, Odawara. This is an area you’ll want to visit again when you want to calm down. While walking along the Old Tokaido Road, we came across a shop with a sign that made everyone wonder, “Is there a tofu shop here?”

It looks like a cafe that sells black tea. It was originally a renovated old house that was a tofu shop. A shop with a wonderful atmosphere where you can enjoy black tea from Odawara’s tea plantations and carefully selected green tea.

I ordered Koyurugi Black Tea Spring Harvest for 550 yen, Lightly Steamed Green Tea for 500 yen, and 2 types of desserts. Tea pudding 500 yen. Matcha cheesecake 500 yen. Sweets are so delicious! This matcha cheesecake is especially delicious!

Both green tea and black tea are rich and delicious. They give you hot water in a pot, so you can drink many cups slowly. Autumn trip to western Kanagawa Prefecture. Autumn leaves, hot springs, scenes of good old Japan… It was a relaxing and enjoyable trip.
