Kyoto Gion and Pontocho, the Geisha Districts, Walking Tour in Japan
Hello everyone. This time we will be walking around Kyoto again. This time we will take a walk around Gion and Pontocho. This is the southern end of Gion’s Hanamikoji. So let’s take a walk. Here is the walking route for this time.
Gion and Pontocho are Kyoto’s “Geisha District”, where you can enjoy beautiful scenery. First, we will walk towards Shijo-dori. It’s a very atmospheric townscape. I came to Shijo Street. Proceed west through the Gion shopping district. There are a variety of shops lined up and it has a very lively atmosphere.
I came to Kawabata Street. We will cross the Shijo Ohashi Bridge. The scenery of the Kamogawa River in winter is also beautiful. As soon as you cross the Kamogawa River, you will find the entrance to Pontocho. Enter Pontocho from here.
There are not many people walking during the day, but in the evening it becomes crowded with tourists. It’s a very beautiful road. This is Pontocho Park. It’s right in the middle of the street in Pontocho. It’s a truly beautiful scenery. This is the Kaburenjo in Pontocho. Well, this walk is almost over.
