Full bloom in midwinter. Daffodil Festival in Tsumekizaki, Shimoda, Izu.
Hello. Today, I came to Tsumekizaki’s daffodil festival. The chirping of birds foretells a good day ahead. Oh, the cherry blossoms are blooming. Is it an early blooming cherry blossom? Late last year, I saw on the news that the cherry blossom buds had bloomed by mistake due to abnormal weather. . .
In a little while, the early-blooming cherry blossoms, Kawazu-zakura, will bloom. But before that, maybe Atami Sakura. Tsumekizaki is located in Shimoda, Izu Peninsula. Sunday, January 14, 2024, 9 a.m. Today, we will aim for that lighthouse while enjoying the daffodil festival.
I parked my car in the free parking lot of Tsumekizaki Natural Park, which is far from the festival venue. I walked less than 5 minutes from the free parking lot to here. This parking lot costs 500 yen. I’m glad I saved 500 yen just by walking a little.
This is an aloe flower. . . . I thought it was just daffodils, but the aloe vera flowers are also blooming quite a bit. It looks like buses are coming this far. The sweet scent of daffodils fills the area. Unfortunately, I can’t send you the scent.
It’s 9 o’clock in the morning, but the store is already open. The cat still seems sleepy. If I could be reborn, it might be a good idea to become a cat. Flowers are on sale. I’ll buy it for that 500 yen on my way home. . .
This is the first time I’ve seen a golden sea bream trash can. A golden sea bream seems to want garbage to be separated, but is it okay to just separate cans and bottles from other items? I feel like it would be better to separate the garbage a little more.
The fact that there is an information board means that many people come even when it is not the Daffodil Festival. I came to the entrance of the Daffodil Festival venue. Admission is free. I regret that I should have at least paid for the parking lot. I’ll buy some flowers on the way home!
It is said that 3 million daffodils grow wild here in Tsumekizaki. It’s really a shame that I can’t bring you the scent of daffodils. The Daffodil Festival period is from December 20th to January 31st. Now is the best time to see them.
Not only is it the best time to see it, it’s sunny and there’s no wind. In winter, there are many windy days even if it is sunny. Today is the perfect day to go out. Before going out, I always check the weather forecast.
I start checking about a week in advance and make the final decision on whether or not to go the day before. The wind is forecast to become stronger from the afternoon today. It was a storm last night.
Flowers are in full bloom, sunny, and windless. It’s not often that these three things come together, so traveling is something I look forward to. It is written as a habitat for wild daffodils. I don’t know much about haiku.
Wild daffodils originally grew wild along the Mediterranean coast, and are said to have arrived in Japan via China. I thought it was a Japanese plant, so it feels a little strange. Don’t eat the daffodils. Every year, we see news stories about people getting sick after eating daffodils.
The white daffodils, red aloe, and blue sea are wonderful. I’m planning to go see cherry blossoms here and there again this year, and I hope it’s like today. Flowers are in full bloom, sunny, and windless. Since the best time to see flowers is short, it is difficult to meet all three conditions.
Compromises are necessary, but the priority is the best time to see the flowers. The beach here is not a swimming beach, but it seems like you can do snorkeling. Beaches are popular in Izu. There are many famous beaches. Now, let’s head for the lighthouse.
Actually, I must have been here to Tsumekizaki three times, but I don’t remember much about it. Maybe I’ve even been to a lighthouse. . . I have no recollection of climbing these stairs. It’s like a stairway to heaven. A famous Led Zeppelin song plays in my head. . .
The song starts quietly and gradually becomes more exciting. It’s my favorite song. My breathing has also become quite exciting. A lighthouse in love? There seems to be a photo spot, so let’s go there. You can see the heart object.
The two lovers would probably stand inside it and take a photo with the lighthouse in the middle. . . I see. . . Now, let’s go to the lighthouse. I don’t remember ever coming here, but I clearly remember staying at an inn nearby.
I stayed at Iida, a rental villa run by a friendly owner, three times in a row every year. I have been going to see Kawazu cherry blossoms almost every year for the past 20 years. When I go to Kawazu, I usually stay around here for the night.
The rental villa Iida is very close to here, so I think I stopped by Tsumekizaki when I stayed there. It’s the Kawazu cherry blossom season, so it’s around the end of February. In any case, today is my first time here during the Daffodil Festival.
Even if it’s not the daffodil festival, it might be nice just to see this coast. We arrived at the lighthouse. This is the filming location for the CD jacket of Mr. Children’s famous song Sign. When I think about it, it seems like a wonderful lighthouse. The blue sky and white lighthouse become picturesque.
It makes sense that it would be on the CD jacket. Lighthouses provide light to prevent ships from running aground. If I ever go on a boat trip someday, I would like to look for the light of a lighthouse at night. There are people on the rock. . .
Now, let’s return to the Daffodil Festival venue. It’s a camellia bud. I saw one blooming earlier. . . I almost forgot, but from 10 o’clock there will be a drum performance and miso soup served at the festival venue.
There are a lot of people on Sundays, so I don’t go out to tourist spots much, but Sundays still have the fun of Sundays. Perhaps this place is not well known yet, and there are very few foreign tourists. It’s a hidden spot.
Ladies and gentlemen, there is no admission fee, no charge for the drum performance, and no charge for the miso soup. blooming. . . Is that person collecting shellfish? That is a rock called columnar joint.
It is rare for columnar joints to appear on the ground, but when you go to scenic spots, you can often see them. Now we can say goodbye to the lighthouse. I came to Led Zeppelin’s slope. This time, the stairs leading to the real world. A real world like heaven.
Birds of heaven. . . This is my first time seeing this flower. . . At 10 o’clock, we have a little more time and the light has changed from backlight to frontlight, so let’s go see the daffodils again. Daffodils are good, but so is the sea.
Daffodils are poisonous and should not be eaten. Someone harvests a daffodil, mistaking it for a chive, and sells it without knowing it. Such accidents happen every year. By the way, it is said that the name daffodil comes from Narkissos, a handsome young man in Greek mythology, which also seems strange.
I thought it was a Japanese plant, but it actually grows wild in the Mediterranean Sea, and its name comes from Greek mythology. We are reminded that once upon a time, the center of the world was Greece and Rome. I wanted to go to Europe before I die.
But lately, I’d like to go to nearby Taiwan, Indonesia, Vietnam, and South Korea. Closer than far. And if possible, I would like to go back to the same place I went once. It’s so fun to see the same cherry blossoms in the same place every year.
Maybe it’s because I’m older, but I feel happy when I come back to the same place. This year, I saw the daffodils in Tsumekizaki for the first time, and I want to come again next year. But maybe this year is the best.
“The daffodils I saw a long time ago were the best.” I’m sure I’m happy as I say this. It’s a haiku. “Idakaneba Suisen-no-yure Yamazaruyo” If I don’t hug Daffodil gently, the shaking won’t subside. Haiku is composed based on various feelings and feelings, but I don’t really understand haiku.
It’s easy to understand that white and yellow daffodils are adorable and cute. It’s almost 10 o’clock. This is the line to get miso soup. The drum performance began. It’s a drum, a flute, and a shamisen. I don’t know much about traditional performing arts, but I think it’s probably a pretty solid performance.
They may have practiced a lot for this day. Comfortable. I feel even romantic when I think that it was played in the same way in the past. It feels like a miracle that these traditional performing arts are being passed down to young people.
I hear that everywhere is suffering from a lack of successors. Finally, it was my turn. Miso soup with lots of ingredients. It warmed me up so much. What a peaceful scene! I’m glad that there are many young performers.
Tradition may be the same as anything else, but it’s easy to break it. But the opposite is very difficult. Although it was limited to guests staying in the city, turban shell pot roasting was also served. I was allowed to play the drums. Thank you for the valuable experience.
With this, we leave the Daffodil Festival venue, but this is not the end. After this, we will go to the greenhouse nearby, and finally, we will head to the secret beach. Thank you very much for watching the video so far.
From here on, it will be an extra video. If you like the atmosphere so far, I’d be happy if you continued watching. Once again, it’s a heart object. lighthouse in love I’ll come here again next year. The view from the high ground is also nice. Calendula. stock.
Even though it’s midwinter, there are lots of flowers in bloom. The Izu Peninsula is probably a warm place. This facility is also free. It could be a normal flower bed and a normal greenhouse that you can find anywhere. However, it is very carefully taken care of.
Although it is a free facility, it is well maintained. My preference for Shimoda City has increased. A proper tourist city is well-maintained. Speaking of new year, it’s leaf peonies. They probably replant different flowers each season. Currently, it is a flower bed centered on leaf peonies. There are many types of leaf peonies.
Most of the people who went to the Daffodil Festival don’t come here. Even in normal times, no one may come to this place as their destination. Although it is not a luxurious facility, this place provides the best hospitality for those who come. There are various roles. And this place is fulfilling its role.
I feel good when I come to a facility that feels good. . . . Cute leaf peony. Now let’s go into the greenhouse. As expected of a greenhouse. It’s so warm. Hibiscus welcomes you. What is the name of this flower? Is this bougainvillea? It’s nice to see so many blooms. . .
Found the name tag! angel’s trumpet. I see. . . angel’s trumpet. This was also a well maintained greenhouse. thank you. Finally, let’s head to a secret beach. In fact, the parking lot where you park your car becomes the beach parking lot in the summer.
I had thought from the beginning that if I was going to park my car anyway, I would try going to that beach. On the map earlier, there were two paths leading to the beach, and this one seemed closer. . .
I may have taken the wrong path. I don’t feel like I’m getting closer to the beach even though I’m walking. . . I’m sure I’ll get somewhere, so I’ll just keep going. It was supposed to be a 5 minute walk, but it turned out to be a bit of an adventure.
Although I’m nervous, the sound of the waves and the chirping of birds are soothing. . . This path was the correct one. It’s a cute beach. I hear that there is a lot of garbage floating on the beach. Someone must have picked up the trash. No one is here. It’s a secret beach.
I love the footprints of birds. . . You can see the beach house. Kujuppama store. Yes, this is Kujuppama Beach. Parasols are 1,500 yen and beds are 1,000 yen. If you drink beer here in the summer, it must be really delicious. . .
There aren’t many people there because it’s winter, but I wonder what it’s like in summer. I see a group of canoes. They must have come to see the secret beach. Maybe they’re saying there’s someone on the beach. Maybe they’ll go near the lighthouse. It’s 11 o’clock.
When you see a hole like this, you want to step inside. I think that’s probably the case for everyone. Let’s go as far as we can. If possible, go as far as you can see the lighthouse. There are many wonderful beaches on the Izu Peninsula, but Kujuppama Beach is quite nice.
I recommend visiting during the winter when no one is around. There are stones on the path. . . I’m a little nervous. Can you see the lighthouse when you turn that corner? I couldn’t see the lighthouse. There seems to be a lawn area ahead, but I’ll stop here for today.
The next video will be about Atami cherry blossoms or Atami plum garden. Today was my first daffodil festival, and I was very satisfied. Thank you for watching until the end. If you enjoyed it, please like, comment and subscribe to support this channel ☺
