The FANTASTIC NEW Czech Intercity Train / České Dráhy Interjet Review
This video is Sponsored by Manta Sleep. Sleep better, anywhere, anytime. Today we’ll be taking a ride in First Class onboard the NEWEST Czech domestic Intercity train, the České Dráhy Interjet, so let’s go and check it out it together! Hello & welcome to Karlovy Vary,
Which is around 34km (21mi) from the Czech Republic’s western border with Germany. We’re going to be heading all the way back to the capital city of Prague today, but first let’s just take a quick look around this beautiful West Bohemian Spa Town, which is
Home to 50,000 people, and over 300 hot springs, making it the most visited in the Czech Republic. OK, let’s head to the station! A bus stop can be found right outside, with direct services to the town centre, which,
Although not far is down quite a steep hill. I walked there, but I got the bus back up! The station itself, kind of looks like a spaceship, but it has a convenience store and small café on the ground level. There are also a couple of vending machines down here, along with the toilets.
Step-free access to the platform level is provided by lift, but there is also a staircase up here where you’ll find the staffed ticket office and a small waiting area. Our train today is the 13:09 – R613 service to Praha hlavní nádraží, or Prague Main Station.
‘R’ stands for Rychlík, which translates as ‘fast’ in Czech. Heading outside, and we find a modern 4 track station, which serves local and regional train in the Czech Republic, along with domestic Intercity such as ours, on the Cheb to Prague mainline, which connects to International services onwards to Germany.
It’s a chilly winter day today, so let’s hope our current 5 minute delay doesn’t extend much longer. Ah, here comes our train now. It’s hauled by a Siemens Vectron electric locomotive, which has a top speed of 200km/h (125mph). Trailing is a fixed formation 5-coach Interjet set, comprised of three Second Class coaches,
One Multi-function coach, and one First Class coach, where we’ll be sitting today. Unfortunately, boarding is not level, so you will need to request a ramp or wheelchair lift if required. Let’s check out today’s route from Karlovy Vary to Prague. First impressions of the First Class coach,
Are that it’s very modern, bright, spacious and in a 2+1 configuration. Luggage can be stored on the large mid-carriage stacks, or the the overhead racks which run the length of the coaches. Here’s our seat for today, a single forward-facing one by the window.
The driver’s not hanging about today, and we’re on the move about 1 minute after the train stopped. We depart around 7 minutes late on our 235km (146mi) voyage to the Czech capital. The journey is scheduled to take 3 hours & 26 minutes, arriving into Prague’s Main Station at 4:35pm.
Shortly after departure, tickets are checked and we can settle in to this journey. It’s very quiet in here today, which is great for filming purposes! The price of an adult ticket in First Class, starts from 550 Czech crowns (£19.30, €22.27,
$24.58). I think this is pretty good value for the level of comfort you receive on this 3+ hour trip. We’ll take a look at the Second Class prices a bit later on. Digital displays throughout the coaches show route information, in both Czech and English. Let’s Czech out the seats!
They are well shaped, have a good amount of padding and come with adjustable armrests, and winged headrests. Legroom is good, but not great, and there’s a adjustable footrest down below. The seatback pocked contains the ‘minibar’ menu, which we’ll check out later on.
The large and sturdy tray tables have an expandable bar to support any laptop size, and a small indent for drinks. A small bin can be found under the side of your seat, along with one standard European power socket, and two USB-A ports per seat.
The pairs of seats also have wireless chargers situated in-between them. The seat’s good recline can be deployed by lifting this lever, and shuffling the seat base forward. Up above your head are individual reading lights, sliding coat hooks, a ČD magazine, and lastly, large window blinds. Free WiFi is available to all passengers onboard.
Overall I think it’s an excellent First Class product that is very competitive with today’s other European operators. If you want AD-FREE early access to every video, great perks and to help me to do BIGGER & BETTER reviews, then become a Channel Member from just £1.99 per month.
Just click the link above now, or the JOIN button in every video. Thank you! The ‘minibar’ lady comes around soon after selling her wares. There is a small selection of hot & cold drinks, snacks and chocolates etc. They are very reasonably priced.
Did you know that these Interjet sets are based on the famous Railjet sets, that both ČD and OBB run on international Intercity and Eurocity services? They have been modified to reduce costs, and so they’re more suited to the Czech
Domestic market. The don’t have a cab car at the rear, so will always be driven loco first, and the dining car has also been removed in favour of the trolley service. I love travelling through snowy vistas, as we sit back in the lovely warm coach,
And enjoy the wintry countryside pass by outside the windows. I may even have a quick power nap… Manta Sleep make the World’s BEST sleep masks and functional sleep accessories. And who doesn’t love a good nap? The Manta Sleep masks come in a wide variety of models and styles,
But I’ve recently been checking out the SOUND Mask, which has integrated, adjustable razor-thin Bluetooth speakers with a 20 hour battery life. They are made from perforated material for amazing airflow, and have 100% Blackout, zero pressure eye cups. Personally, for sleeping on planes or trains, I find there’s nothing better!
Check Out Manta Sleep at my link above, or in the description below and use code: EUROTRIP for 10% OFF every order. Once again, a BIG THANKS to Manta Sleep for sponsoring this video! The #TrainWindowViews sure are excellent in this part of the country, as we follow
The meandering River Ohře, the forth longest river in the Czech Republic at 304km (189mi). Let’s go and check out the rest of the train now… Next to the only First Class coach is an InfoPoint, although I have never seen this staffed. It seems to be a bit of wasted space to be honest.
Then directly after this are where the train’s three wheelchair spaces are located. They are spacious and all have tables, powers sockets and companion seats nearby. The accessible toilet is also right next to this area. The normal toilets that are spread throughout the train,
Are a bit on the small side, but were fully functional, stocked up and very clean. Moving on to the Second Class seating, which is in a 2+2 configuration. The price for Second Class is 249 Czech Crowns (£8.74, €10.08, $11.13) It’s still a very comfortable place to spend a few hours,
With comfy seats, good legroom and power sockets at all seats. The multifunction coach has Second Class seating, but also features a dedicated family zone, with kids play area, cinema, and reserved family seating. Eight bikes spaces are also available, which must be reserved before travel.
All in all I think it’s a very well thought out, high quality train perfect for these medium to long distance routes on which they operate. As we enter the North Bohemia region, we stop at Most, whose name means ‘Bridge’ in Czech.
It is a small city of 64,000 people which was first populated in the 11th century, but in more recent years its primary industry is lignite mining, which is the city’s largest employer. This line we are crossing over now, is the line to Prague.
We are now on the approach to Ústí nad Labem, where out train will reverse and head back out on the line that we just crossed. Ústí is the largest city in the northern Czech Republic, home to 92,000 people. It’s not only a major railway junction, where you can change to services to
Dresden and Berlin, but also an industrial and educational powerhouse of the region. The city’s most popular tourist attraction, is the 14th century Střekov Castle which is located just to the south of the city centre. As I mentioned previously, there is no cab car,
And therefore no way for this set to operate in a push-pull configuration. So a new loco is whacked on the front, and the old one left behind here at Ústí. We will now follow the River Elbe for most of the remainder of our journey.
This is one of Europe’s most majestic and major rivers, measuring 1094km (680mi) in length. It’s now starting to get dark outside, so let me give you my summary onboard this České Dráhy Interjet service from Karlovy Vary to Prague in First Class. I thought it was excellent! The new trains and clean,
Comfortable and full of all the amenities you’d need for these domestic intercity trips. I’d highly recommend these trains when travelling within the Czech Republic. We arrive at Praha hlavní nádraží, the main station in the city a few minutes late,
Just before 4.40pm, having made up over 5 minutes of the delay we departed with. Have you been on any Intercity trips in the Czech Republic before? Which route did you do, and how did you find it? Let me know in the comments below!
By the way, I’m always open to new video ideas, so send me a DM on Instagram or Twitter if there’s anything you really want to see on the channel… Don’t forget to subscribe as I publish a new review every Friday, thanks for watching and I’ll see you next week!

I travelled back in time to last Saturday at about 9:35 AM CET to be the first person to comment here
14:49 I think this video was recorded near Christmas, because it's 4:40 PM and the sky is very dark. For example, here in my location in Spain (Which it's farther east than Galicia, but not farther east like Barcelona, and the Canary Islands are at one timezone to the left of Mainland Spain (One hour less than ours)), the earliest time when the sun sets is 5:45 PM near Christmas
Is there a direct route between Karlovy Vary and Praha?
Are train windows usually clean enough for good filming?
Welcome to Czech Republic !!!!! You have Interrail Global?? 🙂
Klášterec nad Ohří is my home 😀
It just goes to show that trains in the Netherlands are glorified trams. Taking a bicycle is complicated and/or expensive, and I get the distinct impression that some passenger wish that children simply did not exist. It's nice to see that operators take care of cyclists and parents with children.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Good of you to go Czech them out
Boa viagem bonito trem
Thank you for checking out our trains again! Hopefully you had a great time here!
0:52 fun fact about this statue: it's supposed to be a statue of Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, the first Czechoslovak president, but when Russian tourists come here, they always mistake ut for Lenin 😂. Great video as always 👍
Czech republic got some nice trains. It's unfortunate france doesn't have different varieties of train companies like that.
Will you Go to Slovakia again please or to High Tatras tram or rack rail
Great video !!
So good prices!!!
I appreciate you trying to pronounce the "Ř" and not saying "R" like so many other people!
