The great gathering of Bullet trains🚅 Enjoyed the feeling like traveling[SCMAGLEV and Railway park]
Experience the feeling of traveling at the Railway Museum! Hey, guys! I’m currently in Aichi Prefecture. By the way, have you ever ridden a bullet train? The bullet train is Japan’s leading high-speed railway, and its speed always amazes me. .
This time, I heard that there is a place where we can see the bullet train up close. This is a railway museum called the SCMAGLEV and Railway Park. The location is Kinjo Pier in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture.
We can get there in 30 minutes by taking the Aonami Line from Nagoya Station that is Aichi Prefecture’s largest terminal station. There are 39 trains in the museum, and we can see not only bullet trains but also the conventional trains.
There is also an area with dioramas and simulators, and both adults and children can enjoy them. I’m so excited! ! Let’s go inside! ! Purchasing admission tickets. Touch admission ticket and go inside. Here is the price. If you are a high school student or younger, you can enter for half price.
Oh! Trains are on display! ! Cool. . . The trains on display here are the trains that have recorded the fastest speeds in the world. First of all, this is a C62 steam locomotive. In 1954, it set the high-speed record of 129km/h(80.2mph). Wow! The wheels are really big!
This wheel seems to have a diameter of 175cm. I’m surprised that it’s not that different from my height. . This locomotive is the biggest locomotive in Japan, but do you know what is the biggest locomotive in the world? ? The answer is an American steam locomotive called Big Boy.
The length of that locomotive is said to be twice that of this C62 steam locomotive. I would like to see it once. Here is the driver’s seat. It has a very complicated shape. At the back is a vehicle that carries the coal and water necessary for the locomotive. Locomotives are also cool!
This is a test train called 300X. Central Japan Railway Company felt that the 300 series bullet train that was in operation in 1990 lacked power, so they created 300X in order to further improve its speed. As a result of repeated tests with 300X, it achieved a record speed of 443km/h(275.3mph).
It had been used for over 600 test drives, which shows the hard work of the developer. Although we cannot go inside, just seeing this train car is priceless. By the way, there is another first train car of this test train, which is in Maibara City, Shiga Prefecture.
It is interesting that the shape is different between the first one and the last one. And this is the maglev train called MLX01! The tip of this train looks like we can sit on it, but please be careful not to sit on it lol.
This is the train that set the world fastest railway record of 581km/h(361mph) in 2003. It has a unique way of opening the door. Apparently it’s even in the Guinness Book of Records. Currently, the train called L0 series is undergoing test runs and has set a record of 603km/h(374.7mph).
It’s no longer an airplane. . . Let’s go inside! There are two rows of seats. There were originally 4 rows, but one side was removed to make it easier to see. The interior is similar to current bullet trains, but slightly narrower and rounded. The maglev train is aimed to open around 2027.
I can’t wait ! ! We can see the device that generates magnetism from the side. The device also has rollers to prevent it from colliding with the wall. It seems like this train runs on tires until it picks up speed, but tires were stored. Now let’s head to the next area!
? ! ! ! ! What a wonderful sight! Many bullet trains and trains of conventional line are gathering here. First, let’s take a look at the trains of conventional line! This is a train called Moha 1. It was made of wood and this was the forerunner of commuter trains.
The interior has a very relaxing atmosphere. Although it is a very old train as it was manufactured in 1922, it has been kept in good condition. Next, this is the C57 series steam locomotive. There’s Santa in the chimney lol.
This steam locomotive was manufactured in 1937 and was the last commercially operated passenger train in Japan. It was operated for a long time due to its good performance, and it seems that it was also used as a special train used by the Japan’s emperor. Here is the driver’s seat.
Compared to the steam locomotive that appeared at the beginning of the video, it seems a little narrower. This is the equipment that transports coal to the steam locomotive. The next train car is precious! ! It’s a steam train. Apparently, a steam locomotive was built into the cabin and was running!
This is the only steam train in existence in Japan, and it can only be seen here. The inside of the car is a normal passenger room. But if we look at the front? ? ? A steam locomotive is attached! ! It’s a very innovative train! This is the 52 series.
This train looks like something out of Spirited Away! It was manufactured in 1937 and have been used as an express train before the world war Ⅱ. I also like that it has a handwritten message that says “Go to Osaka.”
Although it is a fairly old car, the interior feels similar to current conventional trains. Next up is this train with its distinctive orange color. It is called the 111 series, and it began being manufactured in 1963 and was in use until recent years.
This train car does not yet have air conditioning, but instead has a fan. It was operated in a big city like Tokyo, so I think it was very hot when it was full. . . Actually, this train car has some ashtray. I can’t even think about it now lol.
And I can’t quite open the lid haha. This is the 381 series. The destination is Nagoya. This is the first train to be equipped with pendulum system that allows the train to tilt when turning on the tracks.
By introducing this system, it was able to achieve high-speed operation when making turns on the track. This car is equipped with special equipment. It’s blind! The windows are double-layered, and by turning the handle at the top, the blinds between the windows will come down. It’s funny, isn’t it!
There was also a wash basin. We have arrived at the bullet train area that everyone has been waiting for! ! This is the Japan’s first bullet train called the 0 series. It debuted in time for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. The bullet train area is also very exciting for boys. I’m excited too! !
This is the inside of the first generation bullet train! ! The windows are much larger than the current bullet train, and curtains are installed. The seats do not recline and the backrest is integrated with the next seat. However, I think it was quite luxurious from the perspective of people at the time.
By the way, there is no table for the person in the middle seat lol. Head to the next train car in the back! The wash basin also feels a little old-fashioned. And surprisingly, this 0 series has a cafeteria. It says it’s full. amazing. . .
The dining car also has a kitchen, so it was possible to cook on the bullet train. It’s a strange feeling to be able to cook on the bullet train. At that time, prices were low, so it was possible to eat at a reasonable price. I wanted to experience it too.
Next is the 100 series that has a sharper shape than the previous bullet train. There is something surprising about the 100 series. Actually, it has a double decker! ! What is the inside of the car like? ? Let’s start with the first car. It’s more comfortable than 0 series!
We can see the driver’s seat! It brings back memories of looking at the driver’s seat from here when I was kids. . The space between the front and back is a little wide, and it has a reclining function.
This 100 series debuted 21 years after the debut of the 0 series, but it has evolved considerably! Wash basin. And this is a double-decker! What kind of car do you think? ? Go a little further and you’ll find out the answer! The kitchen is now in sight!
The answer is the dining car! ! The first floor is the kitchen and the second floor is the dining room. Now let’s head to the dining room. Oh! It is stylishly interior! This is the menu at that time. There are various dishes such as hamburgers, curry and so on.
I’m confused as to which dish to order lol. This is the dining room. Most of the walls are made up of windows. It would have been great to eat while looking out at the view.
By the way, it seems that the food prepared on the first floor was taken to the second floor by lift. Wonderful. . . Here I would like to introduce a slightly different bullet train. This is the bullet train called Doctor Yellow.
This is a bullet train that can measure the condition of the tracks and overhead wires, and passengers are not allowed to ride it. It is said that seeing Doctor Yellow will bring you happiness, as the days of operation are limited and the hours of operation are not disclosed.
The interior is a little inferior compared to the general bullet train, because the purpose of this train is to perform inspections, By the way, the 0 series Dr. Yellow that I’m riding has already been retired, and the 700 series Dr. Yellow is currently in use.
It’s really nice to be able to ride the bullet train, which we can’t normally do! ! This is a facility called an observation dome. The crew can see the condition of the overhead lines from here. I returned to the general bullet train area. This is the 300 series.
It debuted in 1992 with the aim of connecting Tokyo and Osaka more quickly. The dining car and double-decker were abolished and 300 series became the basis of the current seating configuration. W can see that both the exterior and interior of the train have been significantly changed from the 0 series and 100 series.
Can I see the driver’s seat? ? We can hardly see it. Although the 300 series was not in operation for that long, it is a bullet train that leaves a very strong impression on me. There are also public telephones that are rarely seen anymore. And the 700 series.
This bullet train debuted in 1999 and was retired in 2020. It has steps so drivers can get on and off from the ground. This is a great discovery because we can see it from this distance! The 700 series has a distinctive shape, and is said to resemble a platypus.
This shape was chosen to reduce impact noise and vibration when entering a tunnel. Speaking of the 700 series, I remember Wolverine fighting on top of this train. Personally, I am very familiar with the inside of the train, as it was in operation until recently.
The seats are painted in a bright blue color, giving a sense of lightness. The ceiling height and aisle width are wider than the 300 series, giving us more space. This bullet train is characterized by significantly improved running performance and comfort compared to previous bullet trains.
It was fun to see the various bullet trains. . Wait! ! ! This is not the end of the bullet train display! ! In fact, the N700 series that is still in use is on display outside the museum.
This is said to be the masterpiece of the bullet train, and is top-level in terms of running performance, environment, and comfort. The basic base is the 700 series, but various improvements have been made, and the main difference from the 700 series Shinkansen is that it has a body tilting device.
It is now possible to drive at high speed even on curves without slowing down. The evolution of the bullet trains is amazing. . It seems that we can sit on the seats for this exhibit. Let’s sit down! ! The seating comfort is quite good. We can also topple the table.
It makes me want to go on a journey! In addition to the vehicle exhibits, there is also an area where we can learn about trains. The front model of the bullet trains. How the rail works. Mechanisms of power, signals, and communications.
This is an exhibit where you can see how the bullet train stops when an earthquake occurs. The initial movement of an earthquake can be detected quickly and the bullet train can be stopped before the earthquake hits. This is safe even if an earthquake actually occurs! These are train trolleys.
We can move the lever and rotate the tires. I feel like I’m the driver. . These are bullet train seats. These are regular seats and green car seats that we can actually sit on. Let’s take a seat in the green car! Wow! Soft and extremely comfortable to sit on! !
I feel like I’m on a journey. It’s a pantograph. It seems that we can move the pantograph by pulling the string. It’s really heavy. . . . This is an area where historically valuable train cars are exhibited. Although we can’t go inside the cars, this is a must-see area for train fans.
This is an area with a bullet train simulator. This simulator is available on a first-come, first-served basis, so if you want to try it out, I recommend coming as early as possible. The driver’s seat is designed almost exactly like a real driver’s seat, so we’ll feel like we’re driving a real bullet train.
This is the diorama area. Too amazing! ! ! This is one of the largest railway dioramas in Japan. The railway section from Tokyo to Osaka has been recreated, and the structure is extremely detailed. Is this Nagashima Spa Land in Mie Prefecture? ? Nagoya Station has also been recreated!
The bullet train has arrived! ! There is even a station for the maglev train below. In fact, the station for maglev trains is currently being built at Nagoya Station, so I can’t wait for it to be completed! Oh! There’s a baseball field here! . The images on the small screen are moving! !
This is the food area where we can buy ekiben(lunch box) and other items. It’s nice to be able to buy ekiben that can only be bought at the station! That’s all about the inside of the museum!
I was able to enjoy the entire museum, so I would like to go to the souvenir shop at the end. We can purchase railway-related goods and sweets here. Well, it was fun to see all the different trains. I hope this video helps you on your journey. Thank you for your watching! !
