【ガイドになってもいいですか?】(前編)日本で食べるかき氷に驚愕/初めて食べるうどんに感動/初めてのアジアは絶対日本に来たかった/アクティブ過ぎるニュージランドからの観光客

So Julia son and Jo son and where are you guys from again we are from New Zealand yeah New Zealand um Joe has an accent I’m from the US originally but I moved there like 6 years ago oh I’m so excited to spent time with you guys

Today yes yes and juliaan is also a photographer right yes yeah so yeah so I’ve got my camera and my backpack Yeah now we’re going to get hak okay that is like Japanese traditional sha iice okay so it’s really hot today so that’s going to be perfect sweet right okay let’s go no it’s really hot oh my God that’s okay we’re here about Google translate she was try

Transl I don’t know what an UI is oh yeah yeah yeah well like uji is like the the name of the Macha uji Macha is like yeah you how they are turn it around yeah that’s for you wow this is Japanese shap guys that’s like very Trend trendy one is it is not

The basic the basic ones are more smaller that’s like the store’s feature is like how they put the syrup like the other side waterfall yeah like a waterfall and that’s for you the watermelon flavor Y yeah before it melts need go syrup then I saw just together yeah together oh soft it’s really soft oh you that’s really good that’s really good really like the syrup it’s like a gam strawberry jam that’s really nice I expected but that’s that’s fantastic so this is the flavor I

Ordered for today this is a corn with the soy sauce okay it’s very unique wow okay I should get one picture in before we destroy it before everything dies and melts yeah please take a picture of this that’s cute get competing competing cameras yeah competing cameras Oh I’m nervous in the first one Crazy how how is corn it’s weird not in a bad way it’s it’s weird but not in a bad way it shouldn’t work but it does yeah I don’t get why it works why but it works is it milky like milky corn like a corn soup kind of but it’s like but it’s

Sweet though it’s not like a you always think of like something that looks like it’ be quite Savory it’s like corn soup but thin thin like light like light let’s try it tastes like a soy sauce a little bit a little bit yeah oh so this is the soy sauce part right here

Oh inside yeah try go in from the front and then grab a bit from the back it’s a bit salty here in this part like go it’s literally soy sauce soy sauce Shap it looks like um an on on I really like corn soup corn soup is one of my favorites but I would never think to eat it with ice and here I am so unique but we have like a Dango mm do you know like the the Mochi ball like

Usually like three M bows in a skewer on a skewer they’re all really good like sticky I would not expect that to be as good as it was got to eat it before it melts oy it is it’s tasty oh it’s too sweet this but quite Savory to is a you like

Matcha yeah you can maybe get like a matcha latte and like certain cafes but not it doesn’t taste like real matcha it tastes like yeah like like tea that’s green but not green tea it’s like every time we go to a sushi restaurant there’s like six bottles and they all are for different

Types like which one is the normal one oh actually I think Sashimi soy sauce is more like sweet okay okay nor more soy sauce you agree that the yeah all the Japanese food seems a little bit lighter than guess a lot of Western food I would

Say cuz you don’t want to eat a lot when it’s this hot outside 15,000 to 17,000 steps a day from about five we lost I we’re definitely sweating a lot more but also would drinking a lot of like a lot of sugary drinks to kind of so maybe we’re saying exactly exactly

Level I think I think we’re say pretty level because I don’t drink a lot of sweets like soda um I only drink like sparkling water oh okay and then here every time we go to a vending machine there’s something new and it’s like okay well have to try this we’re going to try

That yeah a friend and AA showed us the um the jelly grape drink that you have to shake up oh yeah had that one a few times I really like the match yellow yeah that one’s really good lot of Pari lot of Pari soda yes soda Y what do you like about

Japan um oh so I mean obviously we came here for the culture and the food um and to be in some warm weather but um I quite like big cities and that sort of thing um it’s just very stimulating I find even like my Japanese is horrible

So like even going to go to the family model the 7-Eleven to get like a drink or something is like stimulating for my brain and it’s you it’s a little bit hard a little bit scary but it’s good to you know get out your comfort zone and sort of

Thing especially when the population of Tokyo 37 million people is six times bigger than the entire population of New Zealand yeah it is nice to be anonymous sometimes what you don’t what I don’t like um I’ve had I’ve had a great time the whole time cuz Judy

Has been planning the whole thing and I’ve just been coming along um no there’s been nothing that’s really jumped out that I really haven’t enjoyed or hearing a lot of garbage in your backpack though yeah that’s true and sometimes sometimes I want sometimes I want to sit down cuz I get tired I

Don’t walk that much um that’s but only really little things I guess probably um pretty little it’s been very hot to and I do like the warm temperatures but it’s it’s been an adjustment very helpful people have been very helpful so even if there are things that are annoying or difficult or bad

People who are familiar with them kind of jump in and prevent us from either making any mistakes or doing something wrong and there’s been a lot of kindness about that so even if we take a wrong turn or go through the wrong gate at a train station people are very forgiving and

Like oh no you can go ahead like you you did this wrong but it’s not a big deal cuz you’re not from here and it wasn’t intentional and we understand that people make this mistake all of the time I’m sure we’re not the first and won’t

Be the last either um so what Japanese food was like most like amazed to you I think even just the quality of like the basic stuff has been amazing like your average sushi restaurant is like better than pretty much anything we have at home and like half the price probably as well

Like I’m really impressed with a we have a really good Strawberry Shortcake in oaka is delicious um we had we got to try Takaki and Osaka as well that was really good yep just had a lot of ramen we’ve had a lot of ramen had a lot of sushi shade ice was really

Good I don’t think we’ve had a bad meal yet the only like bad food that we’ve tried have been from vending machines getting drinks that we haven’t been able to read the labels for and being not sure of what we’re drinking but trying in anyway um and even then it’s not like

It’s bad it’s just I can’t like everything even though I like most things longer you wake up like you know instead of waking up at 7 or 8 you wake up 10 11 and then go later that’s been quite nice it’s been quite cool the hours of the shops being open quite late

It’s nice where you don’t have to rush to oh and to be here before it closes in 3 hours and you f is the last train we can always go karoke and then wait wait before the sun comes up then just go home yep and he catch missed the last

Train catch the first train which is 2 minutes later which [Laughter] is so it’s been it’s been really good it’s been nice to see that you know you go outside at night and there’s people going on and there’s lights there’s music playing and everybody is excited

To be out there just just walking around and just having all this all these things going on that’s that’s just been awesome um I had no idea what we were getting or or where we were going um it looked pretty daunting the big pile of

Ice um going there’s no way I’m going to be able to finish all of that but it does melt down and I was pleasantly surprised um I was worried it was going to be too sweet but it was just the right amount of you know flavor but not

Feeling you know make you feel sick it was yeah surprisingly very good I’m GL like what brought you to have like interest in Japanese culture um it’s all I Asia’s always intrigued me and I’d never never been to Asia before until this trip um and then obviously um

Julia has always been interested as well and we had you know we got some time off to go on holiday this year and um yeah just decided to go somewhere new and be tourist for once when I was younger when I get home from school be always Pokemon

And Dragon Ball Z like every day after school so like that I guess that is anime um so not not huge amounts but um yeah definitely still appreciate and that sort of thing you enjoy the most during this entire trip like there hasn’t really been any low lights by any means like

Everything’s been great um again you’re just really really stimulating it’s all new fresh and interesting and that’s you know that’s good for your brain and and um yeah I mean the food’s been great um which is probably one of the bigger reasons we came along I suppose but um

Oh just yeah honestly all of us are still new and interesting and yeah it’s just really exciting why Japan for me is because I love video games we always had a lot of Nintendo games I more Crossing you went to Nintendo shop already right oh okay like the games interested

In the food interested in the culture um like the big flashy lights good to photograph good for photography oh yeah um like nail lights like the night views and yeah so it’s always just been it’s my first Asian country as well and definitely the highest on the

List game okay see like L like all the alphabets is it turned yeah it’s turned talk yes never mind okay so I have a question okay show me your tattoo why you have house on your arm okay so when I was in university in 2017 I studied in New Zealand which is

Why I’m originally from the US ended up in New Zealand um CU I studied abroad for 6 months in University otago in denen and I’m really into backpacking and hiking and camping and New Zealand is really unique because in all of the mountains there are these little red

Huts and this was my favorite one this is um Brewster Hut and you hike to it and I got this because it’s the same Hut but also was to commemorate my trip also this house is on your arm we’re out new want to like goes around the

For the spoon for soup curry soup this is yours that’s the chicken temper C Wood Chopsticks correctly though oh wow it’s really good have we ever tried like Japanese Curry but we went to the pom pom puring Cafe pom pom ping Cafe yes we have this is really nice that’s pretty

Good you need it you need it it’s really good that’s really good this one I like the hot chicken cold noodles with cold noodles what is sp you going to try a noodle that’s pretty good I a that’s a whole big piece of cheese pretty good too M the lemon and

The um the sauces dashy Dash really good oh that’s fantastic the Jon’s wooden looks really hot yeah it’s very temperature hot especially after the ice that we had not that long ago if you go Huka Hoka or Kagawa perfecture okay you can get really good oodle okay is it

Just because that’s where the noodles the flour comes from yeah I mean like Kagawa is famous for sanuki sanuki is like their like like a signature UD like Pine yeah and flour okay yeah next time please try like h k also Huka has really good me like food

Y I’ll try anything yeah I like that every region has a food that they’re known for which is really nice yeah Kagawa is Ki is like Bonito like seared Bonito like do you know a fish ponito is a fish but it’s a it’s not just a Sashimi it’s

A surface is kind of like burned with a torch it’s good though it’s good to try something new and it’s like mky trees inside which is is very stringy stringy um what I peel stretches and oh stretches oh okay okay okay it’s just color flavor M so much

Doughy there’s a lot lot of showing to get it down but it’s good it’s [Laughter] video give me food priew 10 out of 10 10 out of 10 10 out of 10 um the temporal was delicious very big very warm the dashy was perfect not of salty and the udah noodles tasted like

They were made next door yeah like right next to them very very good I would definitely get it again it’s a shame to everything else on the menu that I’m sure is delicious but if we were to come back again I would just get the same

Thing oh the same thing oh you really like the Tori like a chicken Tempur it was really good I’m G how about you jaw um yeah the curry was I I was not too sure what I was getting into um I knew it was going to be great and it definely

Exceeded expectations there’s it was probably a little bit too warm and cheesy for like the middle of summer but hey we’re in Japan so I’m going to try you know try something new and but no it was fantastic really enjoyed it thank you I’m glad y good see youat safe Trip yeah I think it’s good with the lemon flour with the food come by I will visit you Us

– カツオのたたき –

英語でカツオのたたきは“seared-bonito”と言います!

Seared-bonito is a chunk of sashimi from bonito ( could be back meat or belly meat) that have been perfectly seared around the edges. It is usually served as think slices.
It is a signature food of Kochi prefecture!
