続日本100名城 河後森城 予土国境最前線の山城 愛媛県 Kagomori Castle 2023
Today I am heading to Kagomori Castle in Ehime Prefecture. Get off the Yodo Line at Matsumaru Station. Matsumaru Station also has hot spring facilities. There was a model of Kawagomori Castle inside the station. You can see that the curves are arranged in a U-shape.
First, we will go to Eishoji Temple, where the castle gate has been relocated. This Sanmon gate appears to be the relocated gate of Kawagomori Castle. Returning on the road and walking a little further, there was a stone monument of Kagomori Castle. Proceed toward the entrance of Furogaya Castle.
There are guides at various places to make it easier to climb the castle. This is the parking lot for Furogaya, and if you come by car, park here. Information boards are also available. Kagomori Castle is a mountain castle from the Sengoku period, located on a hill surrounded by three rivers.
On an independent hill surrounded by a river, there are a series of curved circles in the shape of a horseshoe, centered on the main castle at the highest point. In the 16th century, there were frequent battles between the Tosa Ichijo clan and the Chosokabe clan around this area.
There is a well, so let’s go there. Local elementary school students are making information boards. wonderful. Return to the castle route. I could see the gate of the tenth curve in the west. The outer slope is a cut bank.
There was also an information board at the gate. There is a comparison with Uwajima Castle, and it has been devised. The dug-out pillar building has also been restored. The next 100 famous castle stamps were here. Proceed towards the main castle. We passed through a small kuruwa and arrived at the west seventh kuruwa.
A road continues next to the curve. We have reached the west fifth curve. There is a Horikiri between the West Third Kuruwa and the Second Kuruwa. It looks like they are covering it with soil to preserve it. We arrived at the west second curve.
Horikiri and stone walls remain between it and the main enclosure. We have arrived at Honkaku. There is a legend that a castle tower existed in the late Sengoku period, and that it was later relocated to the turret of Uwajima Castle. The main hall ruins have been restored.
The information board tells us about the rituals of the time. The view is wonderful. Further, head towards the curve on the east side. This is the third curve in the east, which connects to the fourth curve.
On the other side was a rock called an old castle, with a gate and a moat in between. Let’s take a look at Horikiri from below. I’m heading to the old castle. It seems that there were five buildings and a defensive facility called a stone shelf. Finally, head to Shinshiro.
I met a cat in Yamashiro, which is rare. We have arrived at Shinjo. It seems that there was a high-rise tower here. Shinjo seems to have also had the role of watching over the advance towards Tosa. The main body looks good. Thank you for your viewing.
