【韓国旅行】東大門・広蔵市場・弘大|空港からソウル市内へ|韓国料理
Hello~ It’s Miyu, traveling in South Korea☺ I’m currently in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, and I just arrived at Incheon International Airport. I’m currently in Terminal 1, and I’m heading towards downtown Seoul, and I’m going to go to a market to eat Korean food.
I got off at Hongdae Station and I’m changing trains. As the name of the station (Honggik University) suggests, there is a university in this area, so there are many young people here. I’m staying at a hotel in Hongdae, but today I want to eat Korean food at the market,
So I’m heading to the market in the city center. Local trains take about 1 h 15 min to reach Seoul Station. I took a cheap local train because it was only 15-min difference from the rapid train.
But when I got on from Terminal 1, the seats were filled with people who had boarded at Terminal 2, so I had to stand for about 50 minutes to get to Hongdae. So, I’m tired😵
Maybe I should have taken the rapid train, which costs about 500 yen more, but sat in a reserved seat… I got off at Euljiro-4ga station. Now, I will go to a market called Gwangjang Market. Gwangjang Market is located near the Dongdaemun area and is said to be a market with local vibe.
Today is Chuseok, a holiday similar to Obon in Japan. I heard that unlike Obon in Japan, many people go back to their parents’ homes and many shops are closed. Some shops in Gwangjang markets are open seven days a week. Not everything is open, but the main area seems to be open.
So I’m going to Gwangjang Market! Gwangjang Market is about a 5-minute walk from Euljiro-4ga Station. Along the way, there is a beautiful river called Cheonggyecheon. That’s all for Gwangjang Market. Only the main street was open, and it looked like about 70-80% of the shops were open.
Probably all the tourists in Seoul gathered here, so it was very crowded. I found a restaurant where I could sit down and ate. I’m too full to eat anything else, but Gwangjang Market is famous for the mung bean pancake called bindaetok. Also, mandu (dumpling) looked nice😋
I want to try it next time I come! Now, I will go to the neighboring area, Dongdaemun. There seem to be many famous restaurants in Dongdaemun, so there are many places I would like to try. Since I can’t eat anymore, I want to walk around Dongdaemun and see the atmosphere.
“Dongdaemun” is written in Japanese as East Big Gate. As the name suggests, there is a gate, and the big gate is lit up at night and it’s beautiful, so I’m going to go see it! I’m walking down a big street called Jongno right now, and all the shops are closed.
The lights on the signboards are on and the road is bright, but all the shops are closed. However, when it comes to Korean food, there are a lot of restaurants that are popular with Japanese people, so there are probably many restaurants that are open around Chuseok.
For those of you who think of Korea as delicious food, you might enjoy Chuseok as well. It might be difficult for people who want to go shopping a lot! Many stores are closed on Chuseok, but there are some good things about it! This time, I started planning just a few weeks ago.
I usually book cheaper flights and hotels a few months in advance, but flights tend to be more expensive a few weeks in advance. Flights between Narita and Incheon are cheap during the Chuseok weekend.
I was able to book a round trip for around 34,000 yen, which is the same price as booking about 3 months in advance, so I decided to come. Dongdaemun is home to Takkamari Yokocho, which’s famous for its Korean food Takkamari.
When I looked at the map earlier, I passed by without realizing it😮 Now that I think about it, I thought there was a street that looked like a market. The street was dark. Takkamari Alley may be closed during Chuseok 🤔 Actually, I’ve already arrived at Dongdaemun. This is Dongdaemun! It’s so beautiful!
Here today Can you see it? The moon is shining beautifully! Let’s walk around Dongdaemun – Dongdaemun seems to have a lot of shopping malls, not just the gate. You can see it in the back, you can see it here, and you can see another one in the back!
There are various shopping malls. It’s already late, so everything seems to be closed. Dongdaemun is an area where you can enjoy shopping. Since it’s a department store, you can probably take the tax exemption procedures inside the department store. I didn’t do any research on shopping this time.
My last stop at Dongdaemun is DDP (Dongdaemun Design Plaza). It’s a beautiful modern building built in 2013. I’ll go around DDP and head to Hongdae. I’ll walk around Hongdae, where I had changed trains earlier, and head to my hotel in Hongdae.
This time I’m staying at a hostel that costs a few thousand yen per night. Although I booked a hotel at the last minute it’s cheap at 2-3000 yen per night, so I recommend it for a cheap trip to Korea! I’ll show you later! I took the train in the wrong direction
And got off the train. I don’t think I can go straight to the platform on the other side. It looks like I have no choice but to go through the ticket gate. I read somewhere that if you have T-money card,
You can transfer for free within 10 minutes, even if you go out the ticket gate. I tried it this time, and I’ll check it later. I arrived at Hongdae Station! Although it’s almost 10pm, It’s as busy as the Dongdaemun station area where I was earlier. Clothing stores are open as well!
I heard that Hongdae is like Harajuku in Japan, so I think it’s a good place for people who are interested in fashion. However, please note that it is a little far from tourist spots such as Myeong-dong and Dongdaemun. I’ll walk through Hongdae for about 15 minutes to reach the hotel.
Now that I’m out of the center of Hongdae, I’ll walk for about 5 minutes to the hostel and introduce it to you. I don’t have my own room, I’m staying in a room for 6 people, so I don’t think I can talk to the camera or anything like that
Because it’ll bother other guests. so bye for now 👋 It’d mean the world to me if you could comment and like my videos! The slope here is so steep that I can’t catch my breath 😵 I’ll continue sightseeing in Seoul tomorrow, so stay tuned! If you’re interested in cheap hotels, here it goes!
