One of the best places to start our walking tour is Takamatsu-Chikko, the waterfront area near the JR Takamatsu Station. We took the Kotohira Electric Railway to get to Takamatsu-Chikko station. This is a very old railway company that has been around for a hundred years. The station we
Got off at was the end of the Kotohira Line and Nagao Line. The trams were so charming, with electric fans, luggage racks, and curtains that you could pull down on the windows. we felt like we were traveling back in time.
When we left the train station, we walked to Tamamo Park. This park used to be Takamatsu Castle, one of the “three major water castles in Japan”. These are castles that are surrounded by seawater and use it for their moats. The park is also called “Tamamo Castle” because of this.
The park is right next to the station, and you can see the seawater moat from the platform. Tamamo Park has a lot of events going on, and one of them was the Tamamo Park Chrysanthemum Exhibition. It was so impressive to see all the different kinds of chrysanthemums.
The pier was beautiful at sunset. we saw a flat mountain in the distance and wondered what it was. It turned out to be Yashima, which is in Takamatsu City. It’s not actually an island, even though
It has “island” in its name. It’s a lava plateau that looks like a roof, and it’s about 290 meters high. It was also a historical site of the “Genpei War”, which was a war between two clans in Japan.
We went to 30-story of a skyscraper that offers panoramic views of the city and the sea. We admired the stunning view of the sun setting over the mountains. The sky was painted with orange and purple colors, and the city lights started to shine. It was a magical moment!
We saw the calm sea reflecting the sunset. It was a peaceful and relaxing sight! We walked around the streets and observed the daily life of the people. Takamatsu City is located on the Sanuki Plain, and has a rich history and culture. We could see Shiun Mountain
In the background, and many modern buildings in the foreground. It was a contrast of old and new! We ended our day at JR Takamatsu Station, where we saw the lively atmosphere of the city at night. The traffic was busy, and the shops were bright. We had a delicious dinner at a local restaurant,
And enjoyed the night view of the city. It was a perfect way to end our day!
