【神社仏閣ひとり旅】江東区・墨田区・台東区御朱印巡り5選[御朱印500名印(No.204~208)]
This is Masaharu Goshuin Travel. This time we will start from Kameido Station. From the north exit, head north on the prefectural road to Kameido 4-chome, the intersection with Kuramaebashi Street. Cross the traffic light and turn left, and you will soon see the torii gate and the approach to the shrine on your right.
Its name is Kameido Katori Shoun Shopping Street. There was another torii gate at the end of the shopping street. We have arrived. Since it is Katori Shrine, the deity enshrined is “Kyotsusu no Kami”. Founded in the fourth year of Emperor Tenji (665). Please bow in front of the torii gate.
We will proceed along the approach lined with ginkgo trees. I would also like to come when the autumn leaves are in full bloom. As we passed through the row of ginkgo trees, we were greeted by a pair of guardian dogs.
By the way, it is also said to be the “god of sports promotion,” and many people visit to pray for victory. The Chozuya was on the left side of the approach, so I stopped by. Before joining hands at the shrine, cleanse your hands with water.
In front of the Chozuya is a monument to Kameido radish. It was cultivated in the surrounding area until the early Showa period. The shrine building is a relatively recent building built in the late Showa period. In front of the shrine, I expressed my gratitude and prayed for world peace and for fewer disasters.
I looked at the shrine, then turned around and looked at the approach, then went around from the right side of the shrine and went deeper. At the back of the worship hall is the main shrine where the god is actually enshrined. We expressed our gratitude and gently put our hands together.
Now, on the right side in front of the worship hall are “Okunijin” and “Ebisujin”. Use a ladle to cleanse the same area that hurts you. In the back, “Kamenoi”, which is the origin of the name of Kameido, has been restored. And on the left in front of the worship hall is the “Katsuishi”.
It is said that if you touch the stone and pray to it, you will be blessed with victory and good fortune. Furthermore, there were several shrines lined up on the right side of the approach. “Mizu Shrine”, “Mimine Shrine”, and “Kumano Shrine”. “Fuku Shrine”. The guardian deity of wealth, prosperity, and business prosperity.
“Inashi Shrine”. Industrial development, the divine virtue of Takamasa’s family luck. “Tenso Shrine”. Amaterasu Omikami, the same deity as Ise Grand Shrine’s inner shrine, is enshrined here. There was a “Kagura Hall” in front of the Chozuya. And this is the Goshuin seal that I received on the day.
Since he is the god of victory in sports, he also had the seal of “victory” stamped on him. Next, leave Kameido Katori Shrine and head to Ekoin. Go back the way you came earlier and head towards Kameido Station. From Kameido Station, take the JR Sobu Line train bound for Nakano.
It’s convenient because there are more than 11 trains per hour. After Kinshicho, get off at Ryogoku Station. After leaving the west exit of JR Ryogoku Station, walk south along Kokugikan Street. The “main gate” came into view in front of the Ryogoku 2-chome traffic light that hits Keiyo Road.
Ekoin Temple began in the third year of Meireki (1657). In that year, there was a huge fire called the “Furisode Fire,” which killed more than 100,000 people. It all began when a large memorial service was held to commemorate the unrelated Buddha.
As you go through the main gate, you will see the main hall in front of you. You can put your hands together inside. There is also a “Nakiryu” inside the main hall. Hidden in front is the Hashira Fudoson.
I would like to put my hands together inside the main hall and then move to the back on the left. Then, several memorial towers were lined up. Tokyo is prone to many disasters. A memorial tower built in the event of a major earthquake, major eruption, or fire.
“The Grave of the Mouse Boy”. A thief who only targeted feudal lord mansions during the Edo period. There is no end to the number of people carving gravestones to keep them as amulets. “Nekozuka”. It originates from the Edo period story of a cat returning the favor.
“Roku Jizo of the Great Ansei Earthquake”. This tells us that Japan is a country prone to earthquakes. “Karinu Eight Mounds”. The shrine grounds have many mounds related to animals like this. At Eko-in Temple, we also hold memorial services for animals, mainly at the Bato Kannon-do Hall.
That’s why you can see memorial towers for various animals. I was sad to part with an animal when I was a child, so I haven’t had one since… ` `Torii Kiyonaga Monument.” He was considered one of the six great ukiyo-e artists. “Salt Jizo”. If your wish comes true, offer salt.
In front of the main hall are a large ginkgo tree, a Buddha’s foot stone, a mokizuka, and a loving mother Kannon. “Rikizuka”. It was established by the Sumo Association in 1936. And this is the Goshuin seal that I received on the day.
This is the winter version of the silver ball. In summer (April-September), it becomes a golden ball. Next, head from Eko-in to Moto-Mishima Shrine. First, I returned to Ryogoku Station. Take the JR Sobu Line train towards Nakano. At Akihabara Station, transfer to the inner Yamanote Line.
During the day on weekdays, the pace is approximately one every five minutes. After Ueno Station, we will aim for Uguisudani Station. After getting off at Uguisudani Station, head towards the north exit. As soon as you exit the north exit of Uguisudani Station, you will enter an alley. Immediately, the shrine came into view.
There was a shrine in a slightly seedy hotel area. The deities enshrined are “Oyamazumi no Mikoto” and “Izanagi no Mikoto”. Our head office is Oyamazumi Shrine in Shikoku. Just beyond the torii gate is a guardian dog with a characteristic posture. Ahead on the right is a simple-looking chozui-sha.
On the day I visited, it was a beautiful flower ceremony. We use this type of water to purify our hands before joining them at the shrine. The shrine is on top of these stone steps, so climb them. The shrine building is a building built in the late Showa period.
A pair of guardian dogs will also welcome you in front of the shrine. Then, in front of the shrine, I expressed my gratitude and prayed for world peace and for fewer disasters. The Goshuin I received on that day is this November Goshuin. We provide the latest goshuin information on Shrine Official X.
Following “Moto Mishima Shrine”, we headed to the next “Ueno Daibutsu”. Return to the original road and return to JR Uguisudani Station. From Uguisudani Station, take the Yamanote Line to Ueno, one stop away. During the day on weekdays, trains run at a rate of one every five minutes.
When you arrive at Ueno Station, head towards the park exit. After leaving the park entrance, we decided to have lunch at a restaurant right next to the park. You can enjoy simple meals at the self-service restaurant. The menu looks like this. There is also a menu related to Ueno’s pandas.
There’s a panda here too! After ordering at the register, you will be given a bell and when it rings, you will go to pick it up. I think there are about 100 seats. A casual atmosphere. Then, I took the opportunity to order a stew named after a panda.
The panda’s face is cuter than I expected. We were able to spot pandas in various places inside the store. Now, with my stomach full, I resumed my goshuin tour. Go to “Ueno Daibutsu” in Ueno Park. Turn left before the zoo.
Then you will see a small hill on your right. Above this is “Ueno Daibutsu”. “Ueno Great Buddha” was originally a “seated statue of Shaka Nyorai” and was erected in 1631. It has been rebuilt and repaired many times due to earthquakes and fires, but
Its head fell off during the Great Kanto Earthquake. During the war, all metal except the face was donated. This prayer tower was erected in 1967, 50 years after the Great Kanto Earthquake. Although we hope that the Great Buddha will be rebuilt, it has not been done to date, and
In 1972, only the preserved facial part was enshrined. I too have been praying for reconstruction. By the way, goshuin stamps are only available from Friday to Sunday. I had completely forgotten about it… and this is the stamp of Shaka Nyorai that I received later.
You can receive the stamps of Shaka Nyorai and Yakushi Nyorai. After Ueno Daibutsu, we headed to Yasaki Inari Shrine. Pass through Ueno Park and head towards Ueno Station on the Ginza Subway Line. There is a subway entrance under the guardrail of JR Ueno Station. Take the subway Ginza line bound for Asakusa.
During the day on weekdays, trains run every 4 minutes. Get off at Tawaramachi Station. When I exited the ticket gate, the only exit was an elevator. After exiting the exit, walk to the right towards Ueno. Cross Kappabashi Dougu Street and turn right at the first road.
As you walk straight past Matsuba Park, you will see the shrine’s torii gate. If you look closely at the torii gate, you will see that the plaque on it is made of ceramics. Please bow in front of the torii gate and excuse yourself. It was founded in 1642 (Kanei 19).
The chozuya was on the left in front of the shrine. Although it is small, the basin is full of rustic charm. Purify your hands before joining them at the shrine. The enshrined deity is Inari Shrine, so it’s called “Kura Inadama no Mikoto”. In front of the shrine, I expressed my gratitude and
Prayed for world peace and for fewer disasters. If you go inside the shrine, you will see 100 paintings on the ceiling! It is based on the history of horse riding in Japan. This is said to have been dedicated in 1964.
A long time ago, there was Edo Sanjusangendo, which was modeled after Kyoto’s Sanjusangendo. “Toshiya” was held in the corridor of Sanjusangendo, and since this Inari was at the target, it was called “Yasaki Inari Shrine”. Sanjusangendo was relocated after it burned down. Apparently that was abolished in the Meiji period.
Now, this is the Goshuin seal that I received on the day. There is a limited-time goshuin stamp, but it is not advertised online so I am looking forward to going there. This time, we ended our goshuin tour at Yasaki Inari Shrine.
After walking over 20,000 steps, I took a break at a cafe in the nearby Kappabashi Dougu Street. What a nice cafe. I stopped by. It seemed crowded, but there seemed to be an empty seat. They prepared a seat for me right away. First, order drinks etc. at the cash register.
There were more foreigners than I expected. Kappabashi is amazing! After paying, you will be given a coffee cup with this number on it. The matcha float I ordered arrived shortly. It was like being in a foreign cafe with a calm atmosphere. Now, don’t forget about family souvenirs.
Turn west at the Kappabashi traffic light and proceed along Kappabashi Main Street. There was a cake shop at the Matsugaya 2-chome traffic light, so I stopped by. This restaurant is produced by the former owner and chef of the French restaurant “Chez Matsuo.” All the cakes looked delicious and I was spoiled for choice.
The cakes with cute animal decorations also stand out! From among them, I ordered these three items based on my family’s preferences. My son loves strawberry shortcake. No.1 in popularity. The Japanese chestnut Mont Blanc is for my wife. Gentle taste. I also enjoyed the tiramisu, which I was really interested in.
I also bought souvenirs for my family and headed home. Inaricho and Ueno stations on the Ginza subway line seem to be nearby, but since I’m heading back towards Ikebukuro, I decided to walk to Uguisudani station. I walked along the JR tracks to Uguisudani Station.
By the way, you can also walk to Iriya Station on the subway. This time, I was able to receive 5 Goshuin stamps. It was a journey of over 20,000 steps, so please come and visit us. See you next time!
