This is THAI Style! / REAL Street Food Tour in Thailand / Loy Krathong in Sukhothai

What did you say about the mother? Your mom is beautiful.. Am I right? Yes! Hey hey hey! Welcome back to our hungry adventures! Guys, it is a beautiful lovely morning here in Sukhothai province. We are in about 450 km to the north from Bangkok city.

And I’ve come to Sukhothai to celebrate one of the major traditional Thai festivals it is called “Loy Krathong”. I went here last year to celebrate Loy Krathong and it was amazingly beautiful. However this time, this year I decided to make video slightly differently. It’s going to be a two days tour..

On the first day (today) we will be riding around Sukhothai province because Sukhothai used to be the first capital of Thai state. It used to be the heart and the birthplace of Thai State. Back in the old days of Sukhothai Kingdom hundreds and hundreds years ago.

Long time before Bangkok has become the capital of Thailand.. or Thonburi, or Ayutthaya. It was 600-700 years ago. So there are many historical ancient parks, temples, buildings and so on. So it would be great to see it and to know a little bit more about rich Thai history.

And on the second day (tomorrow) I will be filming the Loy Krathong itself, because there will be quite many various activities, at least accordingly to the program. So if you’ve got some time and empty space in your stomach – you can join me in this hungry adventure.. let’s go! Okay, it must be somewhere here.

Yeah there are many dogs – it means this is a temple. It’s quite hot because it’s already afternoon time, but luckily this place is located close to the Ramkhamhaeng National Park, so we are surrounded by trees and jungles. This place is called Wat Tham Phra Mae Ya.

There is supposed to be a cave somewhere inside. The only cave I was able to find around Sukhothai area. So since it’s afternoon time now and it is unbearably hot – there is no better place to visit than a cave, especially with a sacred temple in it.

As a person living in Bangkok I instantly noticed amount of birds living in these trees, in this forest. It is just astonishing. It feels almost surreal, like someone is playing special soundtrack with birds chirping for you. But no, this is real. In Bangkok you don’t hear chirping birds much.

Usually you can only hear motorbike noises, their loud exhausts. But here you can really enjoy nature. Beautiful place, isn’t it? Yes, it is! And there are not that many visitors at the present moment, because it’s a regular weekday.. Hello.. Oh he speaks excellent! Too much talking.. Let’s explore this magical place!

Very peaceful place and a very friendly monk, he looked at my palm and showed “thumbs up”   everything is going to be okay, man.. everything’s going to be all right.. Really peaceful place, even dogs are sleeping on the ground – they don’t bark..

It is a really significant feature for a Thai temple (barking dogs).. But not here. Let’s try my luck! He said everything’s going to be okay, so let’s try! How much is it? I want 2 tickets.. 200 Baht.. 2 tickets – 200 Baht. It is called “Bai”, right? Yep!

Just like leaves, right? Yes, correct.. Ands what about eggs? Should I use the same classifier for eggs? Yes, eggs can be called “Bai” as well. 1 egg = 1 “Bai” (classificator) 1 “Fong”.. Proper classificator for eggs is “Fong”.. Isn’t it “Bai”? “Bai” is our villagers language.. Villagers language? Yes..

But in Central Thailand language they use “Fong” as a classifier for eggs. I speak Bangkok language.. If you speak Bangkok language – then you should use “Fong” as a classifier for eggs.. “Fong” 4 eggs – 4 “Fong” Really? Okay.. This one is 200 Baht, right? Yup! How old are you?

What do you think, how old I am? A bit more than 20 years old.. 20? 20+ years old.. Really? Yes! I look like 20 years old? Maybe 27 years old.. Okay, my face looks like 27 years old.. 27 years old.. Good! I am 35! Okay, I stay to live here, they think I’m young!

Okay, bye bye! Time to go! Who’s there? Who is there? Saw you already! Come on out! Okay! Trip to Sukhothai wouldn’t be completed if you have no chance to visit the legendary “Mueang Kao”, the old city of Sukhothai that dates back to the 13th century and where the historical park is located.

It is a number one landmark in Sukhothai, however to me the major surprise was to discover how green, peaceful and quiet the area outside of the city was. There are many green fields and farms along the roads, massive mountains on the horizon. The roads are smooth and mostly empty.

No traffic jams, no traffic lights – everything you need for a good motorbike ride! Guys, there are quite many ancient temples around Sukhothai and especially around Sukhothai historical park. Actually the entire Sukhothai historical park is filled with ancient temples.

However I’ve chosen this place to visit first, since I believe it is the most unique, and it is located slightly outside of the historical park. So maybe there will be less visitors, less tourists.. Maybe we can catch this authentic feeling of ancient Sukhothai Kingdom. However, coffee is got to be first! Fresh coffee..

Hello.. Can you make an iced americano, please? Sure, can. How much for 1 cup? 40 Baht. Okay.. Not sweet, don’t add sugar, please. Nothing else needed.. Hello.. How much is the ticket? 100 Baht for foreigners. Thank you. Guys, Sukhothai is a province in lower Northern Thailand (upper Central Thailand),

However, even though it is in the north and even though there is a massive national park with mountains.. it’s still pretty hot in the daytime. In the evening it’s fine, but in the daytime it’s hot, probably just like in Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai. Looks really fantastic but unfortunately people don’t come here to pray..

People come here to take selfie with this giant and ancient statue of Buddha at the background. They’re discussing inside what they want to eat for dinner, or where they want to go for a festival.. It feels like.. I don’t know.. People should pay a little bit more respect when they visit such ancient and sacred places.

It’s not just a selfie station.. Just my humble opinion.. Guys, however if you’ll take a ride away from the city for 50 km in northern direction (approximately 1 hour drive).. you will be surprised to discover another historical park in Sukhothai – it is called Si Satchanalai historical park.

This place used to be the second largest city in Sukhothai Kingdom which was formed about 750 years ago. And of course exploring this place would be better with a rented motorbike.. I mean a bicycle. Hello How much for a bicycle? 30 Baht. One hour or 1 day? 1 day, till 5 pm.

30 Baht, really? Yep. Can choose any? Which one is the best? A big one! A big one? Because I am heavy.. Heavy? Yeah, Thai food is tasty so my body is big! You speak Thai very well.. Can speak just a little.. uh-huh.. okay, this will do. “Espalada”, is it Spanish brand?

It’s from Japan. From Japan? Ah okay. Yeah, it’s been a while since my last cycling experiment. Oh.. I don’t trust two wheels without engine! Ohh, I love this sound.. 100 Baht for a ticket for foreigners and 10 Baht – bicycle fee, correct? Okay. Can’t go inside with motorbike? Cannot..

Okay, I needed to ask this. Thank you.. Nice book.. All right then, let’s take a dive into the rich history of Sukhothai Province and Sukhothai Kingdom! That’s definitely not a very pleasant bicycle ride. Ohh.. I forgot how to use bicycle brakes! All right..

Yeah, it’s definitely not a motorbike.. it’s very hard to get the same speed. Probably I should turn right and explore the park in this direction.. because this supposed to be its central part.. The central line with the most beautiful monuments and temples, most beautiful chedi.. just need to wait when tourists leave..

Oh squeaky brakes.. Looks spectacular! Si Satchanalai town was founded in the middle of 13th century and built between the bank of the Yom river, few hills and a mountain slope, what made it an ideal natural fortress for preventing an enemy attack.

The city was known for its ceramics and pottery, Buddhist monasteries and stunning temples – some of them can be seen today. The park itself located in the lush countryside and is not so famous as the major Sukhothai historical park,

Which makes it a perfect destination for those who want to spend a day in peace and quiet, face to face with Thai history and nature. Selfie, selfie, selfie.. selfie selfie selfie.. Everywhere, every day, every hour.. What is really interesting in my opinion, is what is the type of the stones people were using 700 years ago.

Because even now 700 years later – it’s still in excellent conditions.. I mean it’s in good conditions considering its age and amount of rain falling from the sky in Thailand every year. From April or June till November – it’s raining pretty hard and yet the stones are still here. Phenomenal!

It was a pretty nice place to explore, however, since the sun is going down, it’s already 4 pm.. Now I want to visit one more place which is located not far from here. It is another temple which is not included in this historical park and which might be even more beautiful and quiet. Let’s try! Oh yeah, it is so much better than a bicycle! Unfortunately, it is under reconstruction.. under maintenance..

Probably I should come here again next year. All right, let’s get back to this city! And we are back to my lovely resort, because it is my favorite place to enjoy sunset in Sukhothai province. There are just several houses here, probably just seven or eight houses.. Each house contains only one room.

I spent here Loy Krathong one year ago and I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to book a room here this year too. Because the price is only 500 Baht (14 USD), 500 THB for a house with this amazing view!

It’s been a pretty long and sunny day which is why I feel pretty exhausted. So today I’m just unable to enjoy Loy Krathong activities. Besides, tomorrow is the final day, tomorrow there will be entire performance, which is why it’s better to go to bed early without strong apple juice!

Even though it’s going to be not easy! But meanwhile we can enjoy this beautiful sunset together.. However, wait! I got to show you the room first, of course! Okay, this is the parking area, this is the reception.. here is some protection from the sun..

Because it is really hot in Sukhothai in daytime.. hot and sunny, trust me! And this is the entrance to the housing area.. entrance to your accommodation. This is the type of houses.. Here is a beautiful pond with fish, many fishes..

And beautiful lotus flowers which are opening their buds in the morning and closing them by afternoon. And here on that side is enormous rice field, many many many rice fields.. there is some river or maybe a canal..

500 Baht a day (14 USD) – still hard to believe that you can get such incredible price with such incredible view. Ah, let me show you what’s inside.. Maybe there is nothing inside, you might say! So this is how it looks, guys! Here is the kitchen, fridge, toilet and shower.

A little bit more light, yeah.. here’s the shower head, here is the regular shower.. okay let’s close the door.. there are not that many mosquitoes yet, but they are coming later at night.. when they are seeing and feeling there is light, there is a delicious foreigner, we need to try this foreigner!

And here is the bedroom room.. here is my massive wardrobe.. here is the office desk.. and a chance to see a man who is always tired! The bed is pretty soft, so I can lie down and just enjoy the view, enjoy the sunset and the pond.

However, of course, the view is much better from the balcony itself! Yes, ladies and gentlemen the sun is going down again, it was another hot day! Nevertheless, I came back to the historical park where we can see all of the performances, where all of the food is being cooked –

Which is the most important thing for me! Yesterday, I got slightly overheated inside this park because it’s really hot in Sukhothai.. I’m not complaining – it’s just a fact! But look at this! What a beautiful sunset! Anyway, let’s get inside the historical park and enjoy the performances! “Mickey, stop talking! Show us the Loy Krathong itself!”

Three elephants in the crowd of people.. I feel a little bit confused in the crowd of people.. How do elephants feel when they’re surrounded by people taking photos of them? Let’s step away for a while! Hello.. Suki rolls are with pork, right? Yep.. How much is it? 50 Baht. How many pieces? 4 pieces.

Okay, good. Is this really Thai food? Yes, it is! Really? Never seen it before! Okay, I’ll take a 50 Baht portion! Looks appetizing! Ok, thank you.. I follow you on YouTube! Really? Yep!

It’s hard to make a video here, because there are so many people.. I keep walking and walking but the crowd is big! Not same as the last year.. Last year there were less people.. Okay, thank you very much! Quite unusual food for Thailand.. minced pork meat covered with Chinese cabbage..

Of course, the food is still extremely hot, but it looks very delicious.. especially with this “Nam Jim” – sweet chili sauce! Must work a lot work with your jaws, not that easy to chew this cabbage, but it is tasty, the sauce is great!

There are many children around and every time they’re seeing a foreigner – they just stop and stare at you. But this thing is really tasty – “Suki rolls”! Excuse me, are you from Singburi province? I am from Ayutthaya. Oh, Ayutthaya, really? Yes!

Because I’ve seen Singburi has the similar style, with swords and everything.. Yes, yes the style is same as Ayutthaya. Ah, okay okay.. I’ve seen it before and now I was trying to remember where exactly.. Ayutthaya World Heritage on 15 December there will be similar style festival in Ayutthaya. in December

Ayutthaya World Heritage festival, same style as this one. Ah, I understand.. Wow, you look amazing.. You have this thing? Is it Thai style? no no no, it’s just a model.. oh okay.. wow, you look amazing, excellent job! Okay bye bye.. Hello.. What is this? Chicken sausage..

Same style as the pork sausage (Vietnamese-style Sausage) which is made with pork, but this one is made of chicken, right? Yeah! Same as regular chicken sausage, right? Yeah.. And spring rolls with vegetables too.. And where is this food from? Food of Central Thailand. uh-uh, okay.. How much is it? 40 Baht..

I’ll take it! Would you like some spicy sauce? Not spicy – not tasty! Yeah! Spicy and tasty! Yes, add it please.. I want to eat it right away, don’t put it in a plastic bag! Chicken sausages.. Fermented chicken sausage if I understand it correctly.. Served together with some cabbage and spicy sauce, of course.

You can find “Moo Yor” which are fermented pork sausages in any place in Thailand – in 7-Eleven, on a street, in “big C”.. However chicken sausages, fermented chicken sausages are not easy to find.. probably this is the first time I’m seeing them.. “Gai Yor” oh wow .. Very delicious and spicy! wow!

Hello.. Hello, oh you came back again! Hi! All right, ladies and gentlemen.. This is probably the major reason why I decided to celebrate Loy Krathong in Sukhothai again. “Khanom Wong”! This is the only place in Thailand where you can find the authentic “Khanom Wong”! Traditional Thai donuts made in Sukhothai style!

Nowhere else in Thailand I was able to find the same taste, the same amazingness, the same love people put in the dough.. But here in Sukhothai during Loy Krathong you can taste this Khanom Wong. I’m going to buy a whole truck of them.. I think so!

Just look how appetizing it is.. how amazing it looks! Khanom Wong.. Can find only here! I’d like to buy big set, 2 boxes please. 2 boxes? Sure! Because it was the most delicious thing in my life! Thank you so much! Many people followed us after your last video! Very good feedback!

I traveled to the north, south, many provinces, but never was able to find same stlye “Khanom Wong”. I found Khanom Wong on Koh Kret in Nonthaburi province, but the taste wasn’t the same as yours.. Not same taste? Yeah.. It’s the most delicious here! Thank you so much..

These are traditional ancient money that people were using in Thailand a long time ago.. Maybe we can find some money exchanger and buy some old-style money for good memories. Big box cost 50 Baht, right? Yes! We also follow you on social media! Oh thank you! Thank you so much for your support!

It’s ready.. 2 boxes, right? Yeah, 2 boxes.. I don’t want.. You don’t have to pay! Really? Yes, you don’t need to pay! Oh you’re very kind! Thank you so much! Thank you.. Nice to see you again! wow amazing.. amazing and kind Thai people!

I’ve been dreaming about this moment for one year, since the last November… And what is especially cute about this dessert – they put a Thai flag in it, because this is the most authentic Thai dessert.

Not many Thai people had a chance to try Khanom Wong, and here I’m trying it for the second time in my life.. This is so good.. And like I told you guys one year ago, there is nothing better than stuff your stomach with delicious donuts in the midnight and then enjoy watching beautiful fireworks!

Sweet and crunchy.. with sweet caramel and sesame seeds.. it’s just wow! you’re really should try it one day! Thai noodles soup! Noodle soup? Yes, yes.. What is the name of this soup? “Khao Perb” Food from Sukhothai? Yes, Khao Perb Sukhothai! Khao Perb Sukhothai.. Okay, I should try it! One? Yeah! He can speak Thai!

No, I can’t speak Thai! Noodles Perb, right? Khao Perb Noodles, yeah! Oh you got a beautiful shirt! Beautiful shirt, yes.. I am handsome as well! Eggs, vegetables, minced pork meat, right? Yes, fresh flour, vegetables, woon sen noodles, pork.. Everything is yummy! Come take a look at this! okay, okay..

You speak Thai very well! You wife, right? Yes, I am the wife! Hello.. This pot is called “Pak Mo”, right? No it’s different. Same style but different name.. Finish.. it’s ready! I want one plate, please. One plate.. Yeah.. Oh, I forgot! Tired, cause it’s very hot! How much is it? 40 Baht

Pay with scan.. Ok, scan here.. Here is chili! Spicy! Must add chili because “Not spicy – not tasty!” Chopsticks, too? Okay, thank you so much! Noodles… ? Khao Perb! Khao Perb Sukhothai! I am gonna eat Khao Perb noodles Sukhothai! Thanks a lot!

All right, we probably need to mix chili with this soup, vegetables, minced pork meat and some noodles.. glass noodles.. looks pretty delicious.. Okay, let’s try! Quite unusual taste, very refreshing because there is a lot of vegetables.. pretty spicy because other otherwise I wouldn’t tried it.. spicy, delicious.. crunchy cabbage.. yummy!

Here is the exchange point.. money exchange center.. Hello.. 100 Baht, 20 Baht, 10 Baht.. Can I exchange 100 Baht? Sure! Is she your mom? Yes.. Your mom is beautiful! For 100 Baht, please.. Oh you remember me? I follow you on IG.. Really? Yes! You’ve seen me before, right? Yup!

What did you say about mom? Your mom is beautiful! Am I right? Yes! This is 100 Baht pack, right? Yeah.. Can you open it please? Sure, can! This one is for 50 Baht, That cost 20 Baht, This one is 20 Baht, right? 2 items.. Yeah..

These all are 50 Baht, these 2 cost 20 baht each, and the bag is 10 Baht.. okay I understand.. Very beautiful! Can I pay with scan? Yes, over here.. Okay, thank you so much! Bye bye! Mother, how much for this coconut? 35 Baht!

Never mind, I don’t need the change.. Wait, take this one for free! Can you help me a little, please? Ok, give it to me! Can? Okay! Okay, thank you! Okay the final part.. Let’s make a wish.. probably somewhere here.. Well, ladies and gentlemen.. Happy Loy Krathong everyone! Thank you for joining me in this journey!

It was a two-day exploration of Sukhothai and celebration of Loy Krathong Festival! Rainy season is officially over, because Loy Krathong is dividing rainy season and winter season. I feel pretty exhausted, you probably can see it on my face.

But from here we’re going further to the northern provinces of Thailand, so probably the air is going to get cooler.. The landscape will be filled with mountains and my lunch, breakfast and dinner will be filled with delicious Khao Soi, which is going to give me some energy.

So hit the like button if you have enjoyed this video and if you want to see more videos from Northern Thailand. Because your support really matters! Share this video with your friend or with many friends, write a comment and I’ll see you in the next episode pretty soon! Somewhere else in Northern Thailand! Bye-bye!

In today’s travel video I am inviting you for a 2-day motorbike tour to explore ancient Sukhothai province and attend one of the major traditional festivals of Thailand called loy Krathong, where we could observe local traditions and activities, find a fantastic variety of Thai street foods and as always – meet many friendly and kind people!

Anyway, since I was late – I prepared a long video from Sukhothai province for you, which I hope will be enjoyable! Smash the like button if it was fun!
